  • Learn how to make classic spritz cookies! Including how to use both new and old cookie presses. These cookies are slightly crunchy, buttery, not too sweet and absolutely, the most addicting cookies you will ever have! They are a tradition on many holiday tables but many folk have problems making them. Let me take all the guess work out of it!
    What you'll need:
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
    2/3 cup granulated sugar
    2 large egg yolks
    2 tsp milk
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1/2 tsp almond extract
    2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp salt
Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl until creamy. Add in wet ingredients and mix well. Add in flour and salt and mix to combine. Color the dough if you wish to do so or leave it plain. *DO NOT REFRIGERATE DOUGH* Put into a cookie press and press out onto an ungreased, room temp cookie sheet. Decorate if desired with colored sugar, dragees, nonpareils, sprinkles, etc. Bake in a preheated 350*F oven for 9-11 minutes or until done but not browned. Let cool a few minutes on the cookie sheet and then remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Let cookie sheet cool before pressing out more cookies. If using a new press, makes 7-8 dozen cookies. If using an old press, makes 3-4 dozen cookies. Store in an airtight container. Enjoy!

So happy to see the vintage press still being promoted! I have my grandma’s still in the original box and with the original recipes insert. I use it every year at Christmas and make many dozens of cookies. If she were still with us, she would be 103. That’s should give you an idea of how old that press is!

You can also put the green dough in first, than add the plain dough and then add the red. Your cookies turn out really neat with the swirls of the three colors. At Valantines day, I just add red and white and red and white with the heart disc and you get really cool heart cookies.

I bought a brand new-looking Wilton Spritz Cookie Press for $3.00 at an Estate Sale a couple of weeks ago. I thought I might be able to use it to squeeze out finely ground meat to dehydrate for jerky. I had no intention of using it for cookies. It had no instructions with it, so tonight I decided to try to find something online. Well, that search sent me down the deepest rabbit hole I could have ever imagined!! I saw a very old Wilton video which left a lot to be desired and no instructions. Then I saw your video. I had no idea that there was such a thing as "Spritz" cookies and that you had to use a specific recipe to make the dough a certain consistency to use this machine! Intriguing!! So down the rabbit hole, I went!!!! I'm sure I've eaten these cookies in my long ago past, and I liked them ...A LOT!!! Now I MUST make Spritz cookies! In addition, I MUST figure out how to make them Keto!!! OK, I'm up for the challenge!

Recipe was super delicious and the cookies came out perfectly. It's so far the best I've ever made. I halved the recipe but I still used two egg yolks for it. The cookie was rich in taste and personally I found the cookie to taste better the day after I made them.
Everyone should try this out! Thanks Crouton Crackerjacks

I got aggravated years ago trying to make these. Finally about 3= years ago l splurged & bought an electric one & l still haven’t gotten brave enough to try it out but after watching this video l feel confident enough to try. Wish me luck. I wanted to make these with my granddaughters & now l’m positive they are old enough (12 & 14). The oldest one almost did me in last year. She never wanted to stop & rest between recipes. She would have baked all day as long as l had the ingredients. We never did try the spritz but now, watch out !!

wildheart5 Oh noes! Not flying cookie presses! HAHA!! One of the things that frustrates people most is that a lot of recipes call for refrigerating the dough which makes the dough nearly impossible to press out. That's a great way to get frustrated! LOL!! And if all the turning of the knob seems fussy, the new presses are a godsend. You can pump out 3 dozen cookies in a minute. And they're so much easier to clean than the old presses too! Only thing I don't like about them is the die plates are so thin. The old ones are super thick and heavy-duty but if you still have them, they do interchange between new and old presses (at least mine do). Hopefully you'll have better luck with the new press!

I was trying to do this tonight. I was excited to use my new plastic cookie press that I got on Amazon. I could NOT get it to work. I pressed on my trigger, I got nothing 5 trigger presses and nothing. I am going to try with no grease on the tray, and a cooler tray tomorrow. Thank You.

Yum! I have butter cookie dough, hoping I can use that to completely finish making all my cookies.

I think I will get out my cookie press and make some of these.. The problem I always had was finding a dough recipe that had a good flavor! I like the ingredients in yours! :). They looked delish!

***** Thank Judy! These are the best spritz cookies I've ever had. I've made them like this for years and they always bring back memories of my grandmother. And a lil tip...I dunno why but the cookies made in an old press taste better than the new press. Same exact recipe but something to do with the press that makes the cookies better. Call me crazy but it's true! LOL!!

I haven't had these cookies in years! Always loved them. I'll have to get a press and give them a try. I remember having them flavored somehow with dry jello mix, do you know a recipe for those? Thanks, love your videos!!

Made these this morning. Daughter says "Dad, why don't you make these more often? They're really good!" Honest praise from a 16 year old. Thanks for the video.

2451805 HAHA!! You're very welcome! I'm always anxious to make these every Christmas season and I make them all month long. Make myself sick of them by the new year and then by Thanksgiving, I'm craving them again! LOL!!

Do you think 1tsp of lemon zest would enhance the Vanilla and Almond Flavor,?
Or, would it cause a conflict of flavors?
    Your presentation was PERFECT.

i will try this recipe! ive had my cookie press for years and cant make it work. i will try to refrigerate the trays as you say, maybe the problem is that i live in hot area so the dough sticks to the press and tray. Refrigerating the dough isnt enough! Specially during Christmas which is the hottest time of the year. Thanks!

2:53 Wait....THAT'S WHAT THAT IS?!!! I found that in my late grandmother's stuff. My mom and I were JUST talking about getting a cookie press and we have one. Cool.
