The independent brake is specifically for the loco, the train brake is for the whole train. And the dynamic brake is for going down hill, and the throttle has to be in idle to use the dynamic brake.
Jeff, the difference in the brakes is how they're utilized. The "automatic brake" is the train's air brakes. When you make an initial reduction, you're applying the brakes on the entire train. The dynamic brake is taking the energy from the traction motors and using it against the wheels to slow the train down. The automatic and dynamic brakes can be used at the same time. You don't have to wait until you're finished with one to use the other.
The other thing is that you can't use the throttle and dynamic brake at the same time. The throttle is applying electricity to the traction motors while the dynamic brake is taking it away.
I'm looking forward to this one, picked it up on sale yesterday from steam. Nice video so far.

Hey Jeff for the dynamic brakes to work Throttle to 0 for 5 seconds put the dynamic brakes into setup for about 10 seconds you should hear them engage and come up on the amp metor. That's what they showed me in RCO class at the Union Pacific.
I really love the free-roam aspect. A real train simulator game changer!

I've had this game for a week or so now and I love it. And when you see your mouse cursor on the screen it means you're in mouse mode so you can click on switches and stuff so it doesn't let you walk around or move the camera.
To use dynamic brakes put throttle to idle make sure reverser is forward add dynamic brake to what Notch you want/need then add the throttle to engage the dynamics

Yay, Glad you'll be doing videos on TSW. Remember to put the throttle in neutral before applying dynamic breaks. Also they don't work under 15 - 10mph. The independent brake is the loco break only. (Mostly for yard work when you don't have a consist). Be sure you open the box cars too! You can hide out on them while a ai train is driving. HeHe Have a good vacation.

to work the dynamic brake,the throttle needs to be in zero to put it in dynamic and then you throttle up more as you need more braked

You cannot/should not turn on Dynamic brakes when your engine is in any notch higher than idle. This is because dynamic brakes are using the traction motors to slow down, and you cant use the traction motors to slow the locomotive when you're powering the traction motors.
Just a tip with the dynamics brakes. The throttle must be off before you can use dynamics. I saw that you were struggling with it when the throttle was on.

With the controller: If you press RS, you get the mouse pointer problem you had. Pressing X cycles between the different brakes (It will go back to "default" when leaving the seat or something)

Actually excited that you did this! I know you have a better gaming setup then i do so i'm a little surprised you are getting bad FPS on it, i haven't had much issue myself, but i don't doubt that it isn't happening. Hoping they will fix it as well.

yellow /green if i recall is slow clear yellow/red approach also dynamics you have to have the throttle idle then set dynamic and if i recall you use the throttle to add more dynamic to slow you down also fun fact the conductors HT on her waist looks like a motorola HT1250 VHF with the full DTMF keypad

The middle train when you pick trains has a bathroom in between the 2 controls and if you inter through the front it will be on your right

Hey Jeff, before doing dynamic brake, put some automatic brake, take a look at the gaje on the right side. You should see the brake cylinder increasing. That mean it apply brake on the locomotive and the freight car behind you. When you will start to apply dynamic brake, you should see the brake cylinder going down ( that mean it release the brake on the locomotive because the gaje is connected on the air system in your brake cylinder on the first bogie of the loco, but it will stay on the wagon behind you ) You will see it will brake much more.
Independent brake = Apply brake on the locomotive only.
Automatic brake = Apply brake on all the wagon and loco
Bail Off with Independent brake on an Automatic brake = Release Locomotive brake application only.

Dynamic brake didn't work since you have the throttle on, it will be able to be enabled by the throttle on zero and to use the dynamic brake you then throttle up the engine.

Dynamic brakes u need to put the throttle on idle after u have it on idle put dynamic bakes on where u want them u put the throttle back on its will reverse polarity
Just a little FYI. Most newer locomotives like the AC4400 have their own toilets.

Very nice video mate, I think I’ll get this game on the console.
From my expirence, I think the motion blur, or motion ghosting as I sometimes call it(where you see something move but it kinda ghosts behind the moving object...?) is caused by the antialiasing. Because I switched from TAA to FXAA, and that got rid of it. It also seemed to help my frames, but that just may differ from PC to PC

I am sure somebody has already mentioned this but there is a toilet in the nose of most locomotives as well as I noticed when you stepped off the train you didn't go set and Centered which means that you have your brake set and you have your forward reverser centered and in most cases tho i doubt you can do t in the game you actually remove the handle for your forward reverser. being a former conductor for a few railroads as well as my dad is still an engineer and it's been a family thing I think we've all peed in plenty of bushes. lol I am 4th generation in my family for railroading and I actually left it because I have a passion for law enforcement so hopefully I will be first generation law enforcement. definitely keep up all the great videos Jeff I enjoy them all and am actually pretty Blown Away by the detail of the inside of the locomotive in this game. I haven't finished this full videos of might be commenting a little too soon about this but I am very curious on if you can actually shut down and restart the locomotive the way you normally would in real life.

Hoping DTG fix the optimisation good luck with that, it took them 3 or more years to fix bugs in scenarios in the old train sim

Jeff the engines have bathrooms in them. There located in the nose of the engine. So no they don't stop and they don't use a bucket either. I know other people will tell you about the brakes. I'll let the other people teach you about everything.
