Its not as "they can't", they actually pretty much can and will do that on the usual overtakable road when the slow vehicle moving infront of them. Sometimes they get so inattentive they just straight up having a head-on collision with my truck while trying to overtake the other truck in their lane in the blind spot for both of us.
I noticed when you flash your high beam lights to greet the oncoming AI truck, sometimes it flashes back in response. Nice little in-game detail to cheer you up.
I also noticed something else with the flashing lights. If you use the flashing lights on the highway, while slowly coming to a stop: the ai behind you will also activate their indicators to warn traffic behind them. Kind of the same way as when approaching a traffic jam or an accident.
The wheel damage simulates wear as damage, also at a slower rate all the other boxes also simulate damage. I change my tires at about 50-60% damage and by that time even without hitting anything the other boxes will also have damage. It’s a very basic way but it works. Cops allow you 5kph over in ETS2 and 5mph in ATS outside of city limits. Both games in city limits have zero tolerance. Also if they game sees you’re slowing down then usually it won’t give you a ticket.
1:33 It doesn't have to be hazards, I've had my standard indicator on waiting for a gap to pull out into, and after I'd been there for a while, a fellow trucker slowed down for me and flashed at me to pull out. Love touches like this. Also, when you're pulling out of tight roads, often other oncoming drivers will stop and give you loads of room for you to complete your turn.
Another trick to noted whilst out delivering stuff is again the use of "hazard Lights" on your truck, When you are getting up to a delivery depot use your hazards just BEFORE the entrance you need to reverse into, this will make the Ai following you stop and leave a gap behind you, you can then reverse in peace, just do not leave it to long for your manoeuvring OK, the same trick can also be applied for long / wide loads and tight switchback type corners, use your hazards to create a safe space behind you from following Ai, go on or over opposing lane divider and not only will you have space behind you from the Ai BUT any Ai coming toward you will STOP the other side of corner, thus enabling you to safely complete the manoeuvrer and rejoin your lane.
The cars are not giving you way because of hazards on, but because of you being too far in their path / inside the crossroad. Also sometimes, if you traffic stands too much in the middle of the road and giving you the way, if there is not enough space for your and your trailer, you can flash them and they will move on.
American truck driver here, the reason why the rumble strips weren't there in the clip you showed was because of the on-ramp. They stop the rumble strips maybe a couple hundred feet before ramps, nice attention to detail. Also, some states here in America put the rumble strips in different places. Like, in Missouri its on the fog line rather than a few inches off of it, it drives me nuts.
Not only the tires wear off, but other components too. You can see that in your video, the repair cost for them is not zero at the end of route. The damage is so little it's still reads as 0% tough.
A thing to be aware of is that if you get to a speed limit sign, going above that limit and having a police car right behind, it will immediately give you a fine. So you have to read them from a distance and brake before getting to it.
3:07 - About the police fines. You can avoid it completely, even radar traps, if you drive completely on the outer right lane (hazard/emergency lane?) you can see in your GPS that the speed limit disappears and you can drive as fast as you want.
@@MegaLol2xd That only applies to trailers that you don't own. I tried hooking up to my own trailer as gently as possibly could, I was pressing the throttle and brake at the same time so that I'm as smooth as possible, and when I was hoocked I looked up the diagnostics and I had 2£ of repair on the chassis and 1£ on the body, it's nothing but it's still there, there was also a bit of damge on the trailer itself. It shouldn't be this way I think it's just a bug in the game.
As an ols ETS player I've noticed all of that in the game before. Still enjoyed the video. :) Maybe a thing to include: If there's a police car or some other thing happening in the emergency lane, the AI will slam on their brakes. I don't even know why...
Probably because its unexpected situation and when they pass by someone might just jump out from the front of stationary vehicle. Thats good to double check, I do that too in real life. But yeah, they often do it so quick almost "brake checking" you.
I have a couple of things.. If you have Automatic Engine brake on you can actually see the switch on your dash move every time you press the brake. (wipers and indicator stick is an obvious one) For speed if you sit at 5kph or 3mph over the limit you won't get fined if you hit 6kph/4mph you'll be fined. I generally have traffic offences off because if you roll even 1 milimeter over the line (at lights) you get fined. That and you will ALWAYS be a fault if the AI hit you.
As I’ve done more kilometres in this game than I can remember I have noticed that when driving on the highway and an AI bus or truck overtakes me I automatically flashes the high beams and the bus or truck wait until I flash the high beams and goes right back in just like real life. But It would be nice if they could thank the player for flashing them in with the indicators like left right left common practice among drivers in Europe.
As for the “damage” it’s just wear on the vehicle. Drive for long enough the engine and gearbox/transmission will do the same. The tyres+wheels are grouped together. Brake wear is included in the “Chassis” stats. I think? Maybe part of the “Wheels”? Over using the Retarder will accelerate wear on the transmission.
I have noticed pretty much everything that you pointed out and sometimes I like to sit in the middle of the road with my hazard lights on just to annoy the Ai in the same way the Ai annoy us players
I knew most of these with only exceptions the wheel damage. 1st thing i want to say is about the hazard lights while leaving a company works with turn lights too. The AI will slow down but they may not always stop. Also when they're slowing down if you flash your headlights they will continue and not try to stop. 2nd one is that on the tolls that you have to stop in order to pass there is a way to pass without *paying* . To do this you have to be very close to the car Infront and start fast so you will still remain close. It works the best with vans and trucks. 3rd and last one is about the railroad crossings in non reworked and non DLC areas. If you stop on the rain tracks the train will not stop but it will pass through you. However once the bars close there is invisible walls and the train won't pass as long as you are on the tracks. This is only possible in multiplayer where the train will actually pass while being on the tracks. Great vid Milan♥️
The one behavior I noticed that "breaks" the simulation for me is how trains are spawning. If your FOV is far out and you see a barrier, you will notice that there won't be any train passing. You can stop 1 km away from the barrier and stay there for ages and you will probably don't see a train. The moment you reach the barrier the train will come. Obviously the train spawns for the player. It won't spawn for AI vehicles, so I can understand why it works how it does but it always made me remember I'm still in a game and not real life.
In my opinion, it is usually because the viewing distance is low for the train to render or they did it to reduce the GPU rendering. I could be wrong but that's what I know.
In my case its spawning randomly and you can arrive already to the point it passed the traintracks and cars are about to continue driving. Your pc is probably cant handle something
Stuff like this makes the simulator feel more realistic. Great video, bro! Am studying for the CDL test on CDL prep rn. This video makes me feel like I am reviewing the lesson haha
One option that the developers of Euro Truck could make available in the game is the greeting between drivers on the road through a horn or flashing headlights when they are passing each other in the opposite direction.
I'd noticed a few of these, but it's nice to see more of an explanation then what I've experienced. When you've put so many hours in you sometimes become unsure if it's a feature or bug or glitch and it's often so minor that you forget to google it after a session!
Close enough behind police they will fine too. The most I’ve had my tires up to was like 63% I think and that’s when I replaced them. If you keep driving over time you’ll get damage very slowly on everything, engine, trans, frame, etc. if you bump something it only gives body damage if you don’t hit it too hard, like a sign or something.
I've actually noticed a few of these tips myself... one that was missed, you will always be warned about speed camera traps and they are most of the time between 2 different speed zones between landmarks (like a bridge or a tunnel and such) the only thing thats kind of hard is remembering all the zones police cars look like!
Not always there will be signs. In rural areas or in countries with closed borders there are plenty of cameras that are godly hidden so youll always get fine since you have no idea its even there.
When I saw the DPF regen screen on the DAF I hoped they implemented that, or that at least the bar would move but it doesn't, which kinda sucks. Would be a cool addition.
@@LEEGOOVER9901 As the name says, it's a filter on the exhaust that collects particles (soot) from exhaust gases. It eventually gets clogged up and it has to regenerate (clean itself), and it does that by heating itself up by injecting some fuel into the exhaust and then burning the soot inside. And the blue thing is AdBlue. Usually vehicles with AdBlue have a DPF, but vehicles with a DPF don't always have AdBlue (Older diesels for example). The AdBlue fluid is injected after the DPF, and it goes into the SCR (Selective catalytic reduction) catalyst which then turns harmful NOx into green gasses, as you said. Many gasolines and diesels have a catalytic converter, but they aren't injected with DEF, while the SCR is.
I know how fines for speeding works :) If you drive 4km/h too fast, no fine, but if you go 5 or more over, then you get a fine. If you are on a road where the speed limit is 70 or up, you will only get fined while being infront of a police, but up to 50 you will get fined no mather what direction the police is headed. And last, as you sed in the video, police don't have mirrors and you won't get fined if you are behind them. at 60 to 70km/h I have no idea since that seemes to variate between only giving infront and/or giving no mather directions.
As for the toll page, you can even skipp tolls in ets2!!! Just tailgate behind truck in front and you re good edit, some countries you need to have a tiny distance and in others it doesnt matter
About the hazards for AI to give us passage, I've seen that it happens when we get in their lane just a tiny bit and it's programed to stop if it happens
@@MiguelElBlanco Yeah, they're a bit too much strict and sticked to the road imo. It should be somthing more like in GTA IV/V, but less crazy and more realistic
Trailers have tyres... They wear too... If its not your trailer, and no physical damage, youll be fine... If its your own, its on the list of maintenance..
The tyre damage, I would say Is down to actually driving the truck, wear and tear on your tyres by how many miles you do. To add realistic effect i would imagine it’s taking into account the tread depth which would ware down irl.
Did you know in Denver CO in ATS you can set off the crossing at the intersection with the commuter train? I accidentally found myself in the oncoming lanes and crossed the crossing using the crossing itself to get to the right way lanes and then the crossings activated while I was between the gates and deactivated after I finished exiting the crossing in the correct lanes.
ATS does pretty much the same. If you drive 5k miles without having any accidents you aquire wear and tear damage on Engine, Transmission, Tires, Body etc on truck and trailer.
You can drive trough the highway gate or country border without paying or check by following car ahead before the gate get closed 😀. Except the atuomatic highway gate.
The most of the tire damage is because of backup maneuvers and u turns. Doing 800kms is not gonna damage your tires. Normally they are gonna be ok hundreds of thousands kms.
Yeah but I think that SCS made it damage like this because the map isn't 1 to 1 scale so technically 800km would be something like 2k maybe and they wanted to add some damage to the tires I still agree that its because of maneuvers and turns (just my opinion)
I've noticed that on the german autobahn(maybe on other motorways too but I noticed it in Germany) the speed limit for trucks is 80km/h but if you go 90 the speed control gates won't fine you, but random NPC police cars will.
Speed control gates? Do you mean those "bridges" that span over the complete motorway and that have cameras installed on them? Those are not speed cameras. They are there to check if the truck has paid toll or not.
If u see a truck using the inner lane it means there's a single lane passing by a filter out so u have to follow behind it coz if you don't overtake in time you may end up getting out of the freeway without intention of filtering out
There's plenty indications of that situation: radar and green arrows will tell you if you need to change lane, signs over the road usually are distinguishable as where this exact lane goes, the traffic behaviour etc

I love this game... I only have one issue w/ this game though... SCS should try to include bus terminals and passenger cargo for those who want to drive a bus.. there are plenty of 3rd-party terminal & passenger mods but sometimes they have conflict w/ other add-on mods... especially terminal mods since they require changes in map itself... of, if SCS don't want to do that, then they should consider adding areas in map where 3rd-party can build a bus station mod w/out impacting the maps to prevent game crash...
There are two more details that I know of: 1. Trucks from the same brand with different engines will sound different, The FH16 for example sounds different from the regular FH, the mercedes Actros mp4 with the big 15.4 liter engine sounds different from the Actros with the smaller engines, v8 Scanias sound different from straight 6 ones...etc. There are exceptions though, the Renault T Range and Daf XF 106 for example will sound the same regardless of what engine you go for. 2. Scanias 12 and 14 speed transmissions shift a little bit faster than 12 and 14 and 16 speed transmissions in other trucks.
Also when you have above 50% damage the truck overheats, when the temps exceed the red line the truck will simply stall and never start again until the engine has cooled a little bit under the red line

Kind of the same way as when approaching a traffic jam or an accident.
Even without the map expansions, the quality of game you get for the price tag is aastounding.
Yes, of course
A @@someone8653
Wrong. You get that only if you spend more money on dlc and actually buy most of them which is pretty expensive overall.
1:33
It doesn't have to be hazards, I've had my standard indicator on waiting for a gap to pull out into, and after I'd been there for a while, a fellow trucker slowed down for me and flashed at me to pull out.
5:31 you ran out of fuel, but Škoda/Liaz tanker just carried it to you. 😆
4:42 I like how the AI starts honking the horn when your blocking the road, now it knows how we feel like when it does that to us.
2:44 If you're driving on the shoulder of the road (emergency lane) the game ignores your speed, therefore saving you from getting a fine.
Depends on the road, I've seen some turnpikes where the shoulders had the (typically lower) road speed limit (and got fined for my sins).
Probably unintended since game doesnt recognise it as part of the road
Damage to a vehicle isn’t just crashing, there’s wear and tear as well
The cars are not giving you way because of hazards on, but because of you being too far in their path / inside the crossroad.
Thats how reallife driving works
I knew about everything except timer in DAF. Nice video 🥳🥳!
3:07 - About the police fines. You can avoid it completely, even radar traps, if you drive completely on the outer right lane (hazard/emergency lane?) you can see in your GPS that the speed limit disappears and you can drive as fast as you want.
You can just disable fines and speed limit in options
0:35 chassis and cabin don't get damaged from just driving, you've hit\touch something. engine, gearbox and wheels yes - they get "used"
That's true. But also if you have your own trailer, your truck will get slightly damged each time you hook it.
@@salahdehina9733 if you hit/touch your trailer, yes, if you do this smooth - not.
@@salahdehina9733 That's probably the lubrifiant for the body & the trailer's connecting point. Makes sense.
As an ols ETS player I've noticed all of that in the game before. Still enjoyed the video. :)
Maybe a thing to include: If there's a police car or some other thing happening in the emergency lane, the AI will slam on their brakes.
(wipers and indicator stick is an obvious one)
For speed if you sit at 5kph or 3mph over the limit you won't get fined if you hit 6kph/4mph you'll be fined.
I generally have traffic offences off because if you roll even 1 milimeter over the line (at lights) you get fined. That and you will ALWAYS be a fault if the AI hit you.
It's actually %10 over the limit, not a fixed number.
@@ninjafrozr8809 i just put show car limit (which is 130 on highway) and I don't get fined until I'm over 130 kph its nice
Not accurate. You will not get fined if the AI obviously crashed in you because of they fault.
The rumble strips can also effect force feedback btw
As for the “damage” it’s just wear on the vehicle. Drive for long enough the engine and gearbox/transmission will do the same. The tyres+wheels are grouped together. Brake wear is included in the “Chassis” stats. I think? Maybe part of the “Wheels”?
Over using the Retarder will accelerate wear on the transmission.
I have noticed pretty much everything that you pointed out and sometimes I like to sit in the middle of the road with my hazard lights on just to annoy the Ai in the same way the Ai annoy us players
I like how most people say "to annoy ai". Youre actually annoying your CPU by making it to pretend your next move so it can give ai instructions
Great video Milan! Thanks! 💪🏻💯💪🏻
Milan is very underrated!! Good videos about mods, details, updates... And the editing is so good... Deserve a lot of new subscribers!!
that mod changes the entire physics of the game, because I've tested 100% damage tyres without mods and it isn't more slippery
There was this old truck simulator game called 18 Wheels of Steel. The police would actually chase u down and u have to pull over.
@@buoyancydabl no, it is not my pc. I got a monster in terms of specs. Maybe it was a train mod.
@@1ceb0xcfbl obviously yes, if this happens only to you and you have train mod its probably it.
Stuff like this makes the simulator feel more realistic. Great video, bro! Am studying for the CDL test on CDL prep rn. This video makes me feel like I am reviewing the lesson haha
Good luck!
One option that the developers of Euro Truck could make available in the game is the greeting between drivers on the road through a horn or flashing headlights when they are passing each other in the opposite direction.
If you flash the high beam just right, the car or truck in the opposite direction will do the same.
@@tairikuokami because they notifying you your hb is on. They not greeting you, they try to prevent you to making someone temporarily blind.
There is an option in the gameplay menu to turn off traffic fines, also to take off speed limiter
only on ETS2, it does not exist on ATS...
Love this video! I can't believe they still add new things to this game after so many years!
And they will transform this game. Mark my words
The fact that he drove that far without crashing is amazing
Dpf?
@@LEEGOOVER9901 Diesel particulate filter.
@@DTD2212 what is that? Is that thing works with the blue thingy for eco friendly gas?
When setting the gameplay settings for the cruise control. The tolerance setting also affects the speed fine settings
@@kingkapelo Aaah, okey
3:25 you won't get a speeding ticket unless you are going 10% plus 2 mph faster than the limit.
0:47 if you attach trailer it will get more damage like tires.gearbox and other
As for the toll page, you can even skipp tolls in ets2!!! Just tailgate behind truck in front and you re good
edit, some countries you need to have a tiny distance and in others it doesnt matter
2:31 once a train hit me and dragged me with itself and a few kms later my truck stopped by itself....
About the hazards for AI to give us passage, I've seen that it happens when we get in their lane just a tiny bit and it's programed to stop if it happens
Luckily there are mods that stop that behavior
@@Peterkragger awesome, improved AI would be really nice
@@MiguelElBlanco Yeah, they're a bit too much strict and sticked to the road imo. It should be somthing more like in GTA IV/V, but less crazy and more realistic
@@Peterkragger indeed
On ATS, if the road limit is 55 mph and you go over 80 mph, you won't get ticketed by the police car
Does not work in all cases
Awesome video! Haven't noticed some of these details until this video. Thanks!
Tyre wear is taken into account when factoring pricing! Same as oil changes new parts fuel etc!
Many toll booths have "Auto Pass" lanes, usually on the far right, where you can just go through without even a barrier being there
I have notice a details drive over 800km more, and no crashing cars the trailer will damage 1% . I'm think some players will know this detail.
I believe that's because at the corner the trailer swayed. and also I feel this happens often especially on fragile loads
Trailers have tyres... They wear too...
If its not your trailer, and no physical damage, youll be fine...
If its your own, its on the list of maintenance..
@@kimpatz2189 Oh I see.
The one with crossing tolls is very useful, thanks for showing me this, because those places always make me want to crash into them
The tyre damage, I would say Is down to actually driving the truck, wear and tear on your tyres by how many miles you do.
Its awesome when you see the amount of hidden detail
ATS does pretty much the same.
If you drive 5k miles without having any accidents you aquire wear and tear damage on Engine, Transmission, Tires, Body etc on truck and trailer.
You can drive trough the highway gate or country border without paying or check by following car ahead before the gate get closed 😀. Except the atuomatic highway gate.
They will fine you now for that behaviour (at least borders do)
2:10 omg is that the first stoppable train?!
Interesting details
Cool video, man. I really didn't know/notice most of them.... (:
O wow i never knew hazards actually affected the ai. Definitely gonna use them more often. The rest i did already know
I have 240 hours in the game and I didn't know but one of these! Amazing work.
A feature often overlooked is the differential lock.
Theres no really much need in it, since you can complete the game and still use it exactly 0 times.
A few hundred thousand? Which tyres are you getting?
Tires are damaged every 500 km by 1%
I already knew mostly everything. But it was very fun to watch. This video is pure quality.
So if you drive a couple of thousand KM's a week in real life you dont expect there to be any wear and tear on your daily driver ?
I've noticed that on the german autobahn(maybe on other motorways too but I noticed it in Germany) the speed limit for trucks is 80km/h but if you go 90 the speed control gates won't fine you, but random NPC police cars will.
Speed control gates?
Do you mean those "bridges" that span over the complete motorway and that have cameras installed on them?
Those are not speed cameras.
They are there to check if the truck has paid toll or not.
A detail I have noticed, is that if you accidentally drive with high beams, then the ai will flash thier high beam to make us turn ours off
Quick question: which sound file are you using for the Scania?
1:30 its not the hazard lights, they will flash you when you wait long with blinkers doesn't matter if hazard or blinkers it works with both
If u see a truck using the inner lane it means there's a single lane passing by a filter out so u have to follow behind it coz if you don't overtake in time you may end up getting out of the freeway without intention of filtering out
There's plenty indications of that situation: radar and green arrows will tell you if you need to change lane, signs over the road usually are distinguishable as where this exact lane goes, the traffic behaviour etc
Nice 😍 - but I request scs software team - please add more realistic sky box realistic filter & realistic roads texture different country - please add more realistic texture & filter all vehicles.
- please add truck more interior cabin details key option like , AC control , cabin lights and more...
- please add realistic truck vibration with cabin accessories vibration.
Thanks 🤝 scs software team - great work - ETS2 is my 😍 game 🚛 👍
Done as you wished in 1.49 (except AC and and cabin light (tho you can kinda make it by adding some lighting upgrade inside).
Spawning on the train tracks is a fun way to protest the unrealistically large number of trains that travel down single track railways
It's called TIRE WEAR... lol
Nice video, loved it!
These games called E/A Truck Simulator, not American or Euro Bus Simulator
There are two more details that I know of:
Milan you have nice videos and i like them but please dont put clickbait thumbnails.
Also when you have above 50% damage the truck overheats, when the temps exceed the red line the truck will simply stall and never start again until the engine has cooled a little bit under the red line
clickbait thumbnail??
In the thumbnail it shows a damaged tire and in the video the tire got damaged in repair shop but not visible in the world so not clickbait
Yes, somewhat clickbait. I thought they got dirtier and older the more I drive
