I was a conductor for a railroad and this game makes me remember all the “fun” times... this game should be 2 player so that the actual conductor is the one flipping the switches and coupling and uncoupling the railcars!
silicon212 I completely agree! Or “give me a stretch, the pin didn’t fall” Of even better, have the conductor be able to ride railcars when the engineer is shoving back or have the conductor dismount the train once it is going slow enough... Now that would make this game AWESOME!!
@Nathan Williams look into the game called “Run 8 Train Simulator ” it has exactly what you may want and it actually may be more realistic but not as pretty graphically. I definitely would say look into it.
For braking, you usually use the automatic break. Automatic is when you have cars with you and when you're trying to stop or slow for a speed limit change. Independent brake is for when it is just you're loco(s). Dynamic brake is used for controling speed on hills and is not meant to slow your train fast. Hope that helps :) PS: Try the Tees Valley Line or Northern Trans Pennine routes.
Hi Jeff, I don't know if you'll see this but with the freight trains, if the brake valve is in the freight setting, which it should be, once you apply the automatic brakes to whatever amount you want, reducing it won't actually reduce the amount of brakes applied, you have to go to release position first then reapply to the lower setting you wanted. That's why you keep coming to a stop even when you think you're reducing the amount of brakes.
hey jeff. little tip on railroading the engineer isn't the one getting out to change switches. the other person in the cab next to you the "conductor" is the one on the ground changing switches while radio talking to you the "engineer" at the head end of the train what to do. the conductor also is responseable for the trains paper work and responseable for fixing the train if a air line brakes or a knuckle couple on a rail car brakes. and the knuckle weighs 85lbs. and can you get a DLC for Norfolk Southern Trains.
Unfortunately this game never took off like we all hoped, they even REMOVED voice dialog from the mission after the first DLC. What a shame. it has so much potential... Hopefully the new microsoft flight sim doesnt end up this way
This isn’t a Microsoft game this is Dovetail. I do agree with you though and that is why I dropped it a long time ago. I got some recommendations to return to it and I got a 3 pack DLC on sale for 15 bucks.
Oh I knew it was dovetail just making a statement. As I think the new flight sim release from microsoft is being looked at as the god of flight sims just as this game was for the train sim universe :)
This is an insanely accurate representation of oak point yard and the hunts point terminal market. It would've been better if you were switching reefers and flour hoppers and using an old Conrail caboose as a shoving platform, but still great none the less.
fun fact, almost all trains are required to have their lights on at all times. the blinking of the front lights when using your horn is for a reason. its specifically for crossing at roads and junctions
Dynamic braking won't be of much good below about 15-20mph, and even the enhanced / extended dyb are useless below 5mph. To slow a train down like you were, without 'plugging' it, just use a service application of the train line brakes, and be ready to 'bail' the independents, so you don't flat spot the wheels on the locomotive. DYB enhances slowing down in descending grade territory. Again, it becomes useless at a speed below where the traction motors will not effectively generate enough current to impede the motion of the train.
You forgot to release the independent brake 42:26 (right hand brake gauge, red needle showing 20 psi) But it's just a game so who cares lol, keep up the amazing work!!
BTW: two short blasts of the horn means “going forward” (generally w/respect to the lead unit). Three short blasts beans “going in reverse”, or towards the trailing unit(s) or other rail cars coupled to the trailing unit(s). In the case of just some locomotives coupled together, directionality loses meaning; two toots on the horn should suffice. 😊
You can use external camera 8 to fly over to the switches to throw them over without ever leaving your cab. The independent brake to useful if you only are operating locomotive(s) as it will hold your power in the location you are. The automatic brake/train line brake holds your train cars included.
This is my first tsw video and i think its actually pretty cool. It's nice to see one of my favorite youtubers play something different or at least it's different to me
If you go into the pause menu and look at the controls there should be a button you can use to cycle through all 3 brakes, and it doesn't use what brake you last used, every time you get into the seat it auto cycles through one brake to the next one.
You definitely need a powerful rig for this sim. On par with a Flight Sim rig. I have an Nvida GTX 2080 and everything maxed out and get 60+ FPS. When you have a good rig, this is one of the best sims I have ever ran, hands down.
Jeff just a friendly tip when you go to give service on your brakes if you don't need to actually stop the train full service is unnecessary you can get by with using increments in your brake setting to see how much your train is slowing. I know it's just a sim so I'm just trying to help. Running a train is like an art form sort of. You gotta "feel" what your train is doing which I know is harder in a sim lol.
Great video brother. I'd just like to point out that the markers are where they want you to stop the engine at. If you notice when you were backing up... and stopped the cars on the marker it still shows you have quite a bit of distance to travel... because it's looking for the engine to park there
If you use the default controller profile, you can use “X” to change which brake is selected, without having to exit outside cameras. Keep up the good work!
In regards to your A/C problem: If you’re renting your house and don’t own it the property manager has 24 hours in the state of Florida to fix the A/C if they don’t get it fixed you can withhold rent. And save those receipts!
VR support would be cool, but this company has plans to do multiplayer support eventually. Not a huge company either. Also right now they keep plugging away at more DLC's for more variety. And also eventually want to add steam engines to the game as well.
If you have train sim world 2 or it might do it in this one, if you hold right toggle when you are out of the train it will put you back in the train. Just a heads up!
Jeff for the horn its two sort blasts for going forward and three short blasts if your going backward. And you should also do stuff with the LIRR M7 trains. And to change the different brakes i belive if your on xbox controller than hit “x” button and that changes it i think.
Nicholas Normand try run 8 train sim for that. Graphics aren’t as pretty but the physics and realism is unbeatable. Tack on massive multiplayer and maybe even join a prototypical server and you’ll love it.
try run 8 train sim for that. Graphics aren’t as pretty but the physics and realism is unbeatable. Tack on massive multiplayer and maybe even join a prototypical server and you’ll love it.
Love trains I got to operate a gp20 few years ago and it's pretty warm on those cabs? 👌😎 coming to a crossing, make sure you sound the horn in Long long short long 👌
Great video Jeff. I really like the attention to detail they used in the graphics of this game. But like you said at one point the scenery is all the same of course because your going back and forth to the same locations. Personally I would like to see a longer trip so you could really open up the speed and we could see some more of scenery in the game since the graphics are so we'll done.
I would also check on your compressor for your AC unit. Mine went out about a week ago and someone came out and checked it. They put freon in and checked everything and said it was fine. A couple of days later the AC went out again so they came back out and told me that my compressor was bad and that I needed to replace it... What an expensive fix
Watching this video literally made me just purchase the game. Can you explain the track switches a bit more? How will you know when to switch a track? Thanks and great video!
Sounds like it may be a problem with the thermostat. Happened to me, had guy come out to refill freon, went back out, they replace the whole unit still didn't work, came back out & found out our thermostat was in emergency heat mode, so it would blow cold air then hot air. It was terrible
this game needs IRL second person telling you slow down etc, and they could go out and change sidings and check on the engine and carriages etc and longer routes
I see this game isn't playing full real sim because where you stopped your 15 box cars was right on the switch and if another trains needed to get on the other track or leave that track someone else would have to the move the train and that would cause co fusion and delay and maybe even fired in the real world but other then that.i loved the video
Idk if it's my new 4k TV or what but I watched this on it and the graphics are amazing. My last TV was just a regular 1080 but didn't think it'd be that different. Not sure if the game just looks better with a 4k TV or if it's just UA-cam. Either way I have to get back Into this game, ended up putting it at the bottom of the pile after a bunch of other games came out in the last year
I was a conductor for a railroad and this game makes me remember all the “fun” times... this game should be 2 player so that the actual conductor is the one flipping the switches and coupling and uncoupling the railcars!
That would be amazing ... have random problems with coupling ... 'bald joint, give it a stretch' ...
silicon212 I completely agree! Or “give me a stretch, the pin didn’t fall”
Of even better, have the conductor be able to ride railcars when the engineer is shoving back or have the conductor dismount the train once it is going slow enough... Now that would make this game AWESOME!!
Nick Bradshaw makes me sad... 😢
@Nathan Williams look into the game called “Run 8 Train Simulator ” it has exactly what you may want and it actually may be more realistic but not as pretty graphically. I definitely would say look into it.
This game lets you play engineer, conductor, and dispatch
Jeff’s so focused on driving the train he doesn’t notice that his conductor materialized next to him.
lol all he aid to him was she looks depraesd

The reason your cab mate is depressed, is you haven't offered her a beer. LOL.

This game looks awesome! Great work! Although you accidentally bagged that switch at 4:25 😂
Congrats on 1 mil Jeff. I love your vid, been with you sense GTA 4 keep up the good work.
Who else has been watching for over 4 year's
Tristen outdoor show I’ve been watching for 6 years.
Heck yeah! More TSW!! Glad that you enjoy the game.
fun fact, almost all trains are required to have their lights on at all times. the blinking of the front lights when using your horn is for a reason. its specifically for crossing at roads and junctions

By far the best and most realistic train sim ever Jeff.
BTW: two short blasts of the horn means “going forward” (generally w/respect to the lead unit). Do more train video I like them
Atleast with no real AC in the office, you get a true sim of being in the train cab! Hope it’s sorted soon though matey, missing the regular vids
I enjoy the relaxing vids just as much as the more action packed content. The inner workings of the railroad sure is interesting.
You can use external camera 8 to fly over to the switches to throw them over without ever leaving your cab. Clicked on the notification as soon as i saw it keep up the good work
Same
Hey Jeff I love your videos and is soon as I saw the notification I clicked on it. Keep up the good work!
If your a big fan of this game, you should check out Trainz Railroad Simulator. You can run pre-built scenario's or build your own custom world.
This game better tho
If you go into the pause menu and look at the controls there should be a button you can use to cycle through all 3 brakes, and it doesn't use what brake you last used, every time you get into the seat it auto cycles through one brake to the next one.
So tuned in with the driving, keep up the great work Jeff!
Time is money- Jeff flamingo 2019
Jeff Favinunu
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fucking Jeff the flamingo 😂😂😂

Not sure if anyone said it but the flashing red light is called an End of Train Device (EOT) its what replaced caboose cars.
Well it's about time Jeff
This was the very first type of diesel I mastered but its quite simple once you know what each lever does
Great video brother. I'd just like to point out that the markers are where they want you to stop the engine at. If you notice when you were backing up... and stopped the cars on the marker it still shows you have quite a bit of distance to travel... because it's looking for the engine to park there

I would like to see more of these train sim videos I really enjoy them
CSX hands down has the best horns, unless you wanna throw Amtrak K5LA in then those automatically win
train Sim world 2020 comes out Aug 15th
Must say, this is better than Microsoft Train Simulator
Congratulations on 1M subscribers!!😎
In regards to your A/C problem: If you’re renting your house and don’t own it the property manager has 24 hours in the state of Florida to fix the A/C if they don’t get it fixed you can withhold rent. And save those receipts!
You should do the NEC Morristown Lines (NJ Transit) if they have it.
Hi Jeff! I am a freight locomotive engineer (who also loves video games). If you have any questions about train stuff I can answer them for you!
7:30 I'm in the us and I say route (rowt) for the route you're taking and route(root) like route 66
I'm glad its back
Please continue this series!
Glad you returned
Also I am an American and I pronounce route as “root”. I wonder if it’s a regional thing?
Your conductor should be doing all the switching and watching the shove while giving you car counts
Man, trains could really use some cruise control.
The driver goes to the speed he/she wants then they put the throttle to idle
Finally another train video :D
Love by the way all of your content Jeff
VR support would be cool, but this company has plans to do multiplayer support eventually. Not a huge company either. Also right now they keep plugging away at more DLC's for more variety. And also eventually want to add steam engines to the game as well.
But did you know that TSW:2020 comes out August 15th? Apparently there will be a mysterious new US West Coast route with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
more of trains... i love it
Would definitely love to see some more Train Sim World! Awesome video as usual Jeff!
Keep up the good work Jeff
If you have train sim world 2 or it might do it in this one, if you hold right toggle when you are out of the train it will put you back in the train. Just a heads up!

would be great if this game have mutiplayer mode like 1 person will play as a conductor and the other can be the engineer.
Especially for console since this game is for consoles Xbox one PS4 and PC
Nicholas Normand try run 8 train sim for that. Graphics aren’t as pretty but the physics and realism is unbeatable. Tack on massive multiplayer and maybe even join a prototypical server and you’ll love it.

Would love to see more of this Jeff
Jeff you should blow the horn 3 times in reverse and 2 when you go forward
Definitely more of this game.
It cool to see the northeast corner again :3
Really like this one Jeff. Keep up the good work.
Yea happy Friday to you as well. Tomorrow i am going to a concert at my local park should be awesome
I love it Jeff, more train sim!
Yes! This is awesome Jeff!
i love watching these videos cuz i doint feel like buying the games
In real life you wanna go to noych 1 and wait a little bit until your amps have evened out. Going straight to 4 can rip you in half.
This game is actually very cool. I had my doubts when I pressed the video. I’m glad I did
Great video Jeff. I really like the attention to detail they used in the graphics of this game. @@Reaperguy67 Too damn much lol... they replaced the unit and the furnace as well. But it was around 5k
@Jeff favignano do you think you will ever revisit these games? I'm playing tsw2 on ps4 and find these videos entertaining
Watching this video literally made me just purchase the game. Can you explain the track switches a bit more? How will you know when to switch a track? Thanks and great video!
the VR train game I think you are talking about is Derail Valley :)
Had a minor surgery on Thursday so am currently recovering but very glad to have great content to watch from you
Glad to hear you are doing well! Thank you Nick
Awesome Jeff. Play this on the PS4. More please!
Sounds like it may be a problem with the thermostat. Happened to me, had guy come out to refill freon, went back out, they replace the whole unit still didn't work, came back out & found out our thermostat was in emergency heat mode, so it would blow cold air then hot air. It was terrible
happy friday jeff
this game needs IRL second person telling you slow down etc, and they could go out and change sidings and check on the engine and carriages etc and longer routes
Oh yes more train sim
Wonder is they have people stealing beer from the freight cars like they do in real life in oak point
U can hit x to change to what breaks
Great video keep up the good work
Damn, you getting me addicted to trains... LOL
Jeff you made me get train sim world on my Xbox bc you made it look fun to play
It looks so realistic
I love these vids, would love to see more!! PS, I work for the railroad so if you want to learn how to actually run a train let me know! lol
at 39:33, you need to press Y to cross between trains
Keep up the good content love your videos
Hey Jeff that was amazing you should do some more of the fright cars that will be awesome
I see this game isn't playing full real sim because where you stopped your 15 box cars was right on the switch and if another trains needed to get on the other track or leave that track someone else would have to the move the train and that would cause co fusion and delay and maybe even fired in the real world but other then that.i loved the video
U should do more train sim videos. Gta is cool but u should do this on the side.
I build these type of locomotives and from what I've seen the control panal and everything is pretty accurate
Those locomotive models are very good. Can you select what type of locomotive to run with this train? Say, an SD40-2 instead of the GP38-2?
Love you vids keep up the good work
Idk if it's my new 4k TV or what but I watched this on it and the graphics are amazing. My last TV was just a regular 1080 but didn't think it'd be that different. Fernbus??
No AC in Florida in July? That really sucks.
