Koenigsegg needs to get that money back.. And if they only make a few cars a year that means each car has to recoup a larger % of the expense of development

This has been my favorite car company for years. This car, is not only brilliant, the engineering, manufacturing process, the passion, is just absolutely amazing. Ferrari and Lambo, along with Pagani (which isn't really in the same class) are brilliant designers, fabricators and engineering companies, but Koenigsegg is just not only a remarkable company, but their cars are absolutely wonderful.. wonderful doesn't describe them.. more like Amazing, or Astounding. As an engineer, business owner and carbon fiber parts manufacturer, I can not only appreciate the amount of work that goes into one of these cars, this video just simply leaves my jaw dropped at the attention to detail and incredible engineering work that went into this car. Koenigsegg is my favorite car.. hopefully one of these days before I'm either dead, or too old to enjoy it, I can buy one. I work my ass off, keeping myself, my family and my employees fed and in homes, that's my primary concern. My goal, is to one day, ride in my own Koenigsegg. My absolute dream car. I started another company, working on patents and designs, and my goal is to make the company thrive and take the profits from it and hopefully buy one of these some day soon. Until then, I can simply just dream.
Poppa Bear What I do not understand - how they make any money on these cars - I mean their production is VERY limited, production cost must be high as well - hell a company like VW is losing a lot of money on making their Bugatti Veyrons... (but the can pay it from profits of selling thousands of Golfs)
Lukas N. Yeah Lukas, I was thinking the same exact thing. I do carbon fiber manufacturing in small scale, and know how much time, cost and energy goes into the carbon fiber molding. The Bugati Veyron is highly expensive and I heard that VW was losing millions making each car. This company is either pinching pennies where they can, making their own molds, or has their costs down where they can. I built an original 1969 Z28 camaro, and even with the available parts, paying a shop to do some of the work, replacing everything with factory original steel and much cheaper parts, it still cost me about 20x what the car originally cost. Doing this in the modern era, with high labor costs, high material costs and out of carbon fiber... the owner of this company must have his act together, or, he's being funded outside as well. I'd still love to have this car more than just about anything else on the planet.. except maybe the new, 1-off, 200 million dollar lunar landing rover.:P It wouldn't be fast, but damn would it get looks. lol.

I could listen to this man for hours, he impresses me so much, the fact that he is the CEO of his company and the fact that he knows everything about his productions and every little thing that goes into his car amazes me, I'd like to see more men this godlike.
There are a lot of companies that specialize in carbon fiber manufacturing. I am wondering if there is a benefit of not outsourcing the process to a larger facility? I can figure that the production time would be much shorter with the benefit of getting products made to the lowest bidder.
+Branden Bunny yeah I work with carbon fiber manufacturing company that does a lot of aerostructures for Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky and Boeing. literally aerospace grade stuff. there is no shame to outsourcing the work to another company that has been doing this type of work for 30+ years because most companies do it. But what do I know, I am just a manufacturing engineer.
+Tristan Thilen do you think anyone cares that the plane you take is made by hundreds of manufacturers? it doesn't degrade the quality of the product. Those bolts, battery, and even carbon fiber material that koenigsegg uses are probably outsourced anyways. there is no such thing as 100% in house manufacturing for a consumer product.
Obviously they don't care, because it's an airplane, they are trying to reduce costs and produce a good product quickly. Koenigsegg is not that type of company, they produce less than 20 cars a year. You may be a manufacturing engineer, but clearly you don't understand this concept.
+ojanieno it reminds me of my first stereo from the 90's, but right in the middle of a workshop producing exquisite vehicles. Made me laugh! Just spotted another two pairs of speakers in this video on top of cabinets, love a workshop that works to music.
A CEO that understands EVERYTHING about his product is so rare. It's even more impressive with something like a Koenigsegg, where there is no expense spared and the most advanced techniques are used! This guy is so epic!
Kudos to the entire staff and contributors at Drive. From inception to date, production quality, content and presentation has been fantastic and it seems to improving, getting better and better. Now, I'm just waiting for the next installment of CHoC.
This could easily be the best video on youtube, but for the music. Perfect amount of information/time. Well presented by a knowledgeable expert. Perfect blend of presenter discussing the parts and cuts of the worker. A+++ (no music next time please)
Having made carbon fiber parts during an internship with a formula 1 team, this video is made even more interesting. In some ways, Koenigsegg are doing higher tech work(making tubs and valve covers), than the F1 team were doing. You can't really appreciate the amount of labor involved until you are actually doing it.
latex is your friend here, make a foam mold of your part, say 20-30% smaller in all directions. Paint on latex and let it set (thickness of 1mm should see you good to 80 psi or so, which is plenty) then burn the foam out with solvents leaving a flexible latex bladder. lay up one side of your part in the mold, insert the bladder, fold the carbon fibre over and close the mold, inflate and cure :-)
I was there a year ago. The ghost is the emblem from a fightersquadron that used to operate from the old swedish airforcebase where they have their factory (F10 Ängelholm). The squadron motto was "mad ger styrka" - "food gives strength". I was there writing a story about a Volkswagen bus. They were testdriving a new car on the airstrip while we were shooting the bus Very special place this base I think it is a nice homage to the squad. They saw A LOT of russian duralaluminium over baltic sea :)
Koenigsegg is one of those rare cars in which you feel like you are in something, something big and powerful... It feels like your in a cabin of a very big alien machine!
well that's not nice! :( lol! but I guess since you're making it and I'm not and you're making it for me you should probably make yourself one first...
no, if you listen closely, he says they use what's called "prepreg" carbon, short for preimpregnated. The carbon fiber fabric comes pre impregnated with the epoxy resin in the fabric. This makes the heat part of the process much more important (you could see them loading the parts into an autoclave in the video) because at room temperature, the resin is almost like a gel, needing heat to both "melt" it as well as cure it. This is not the only way to do it, but on a production scale, the best
What a brave move, Mean while every single company make it confidential process in carbon fiber. But Christian Koenigsegg explain every single detail & production procedure
This company is just so inspirational, and i as a german and proud of our automobilindustry can say that no german carmanufacturer can meet that high standards. (you should know even the Bugatti Veyron was developed by Volkswagen engineers)
Fibreglass as well. The whole process is a lot of fun to do. Ive never done carbon fibre tho, but kinda the same process. Man, I wish we had CF in my robotics class in High school haha. Rock on man. ^^

Do you think Koenigsegg customers would be happy that their $2 million + car was outsourced.
There should be a 24/7 Koenigsegg channel.. all koenigsegg all the time.
Should reallllly buy those guys a better stereo no?
+Four Reel Media Can you please tell us what you know about this model and why you tyink it's bad? :3
+ojanieno it reminds me of my first stereo from the 90's, but right in the middle of a workshop producing exquisite vehicles. Made me laugh! Just spotted another two pairs of speakers in this video on top of cabinets, love a workshop that works to music.
The Real Black Phoenix And still running in 2015, that must be truly an exquisite stereo ^^
He a real life Saitama
A CEO that understands EVERYTHING about his product is so rare. It's even more impressive with something like a Koenigsegg, where there is no expense spared and the most advanced techniques are used! This guy is so epic!
1 reason why I don't own a Koenigsegg: I'm poor af.
Don't say iam poor say iam rich I can afford a Koenigsegg just a matter of time when an idea will pop up in my head.
I love how at 7:30 he is just carrying a manifold cover with one hand like it weighs nothing. The technology in these cars are just amazing.
Such a savage fucking car...
Kudos to the entire staff and contributors at Drive. From inception to date, production quality, content and presentation has been fantastic and it seems to improving, getting better and better. Now, I'm just waiting for the next installment of CHoC.
Maybe he can make some carbon fiber eyebrows....
Oskar Esparza hahaha damn man
Oskar Esparza that genuinely made me laugh haha good one 😂😂
Oskar Esparza Thats fucked but funny😂
This could easily be the best video on youtube, but for the music. Perfect amount of information/time. Well presented by a knowledgeable expert. Perfect blend of presenter discussing the parts and cuts of the worker. A+++ (no music next time please)
In my dreams!
Koenigsegg is faster than Bugatti
no
Teh Tarik yes
Yes it's ford power
KILLX55 Now Koenigsegg does its own engines
And a million times lighter
He's not "just"a CEO, he is the living heart and brain of the whole company. He is Koenigsegg like Horacio Pagani is Pagani.
So....Anybody got this recommended in 2019??
No? Just me? Okay..
I did.
latex is your friend here, make a foam mold of your part, say 20-30% smaller in all directions.
Holy shit I never knew that's what goes into making one of those
I was there a year ago. The ghost is the emblem from a fightersquadron that used to operate from the old swedish airforcebase where they have their factory (F10 Ängelholm). The squadron motto was "mad ger styrka" - "food gives strength". I was there writing a story about a Volkswagen bus. They were testdriving a new car on the airstrip while we were shooting the bus Very special place this base
I think it is a nice homage to the squad. They saw A LOT of russian duralaluminium over baltic sea :)
christian, you are truly a marvel of the human race! Please keep producing these videos!
Mr. Christ I'm buying lottery every week I hope to see you in person one day soon. let you build me a nice car
Respect, koenigsegg is without a doubt the most precise and briliant brand of cars
well there is a man who did build a carbon and plastic of some kind and they race that engine
i
with best
So much inspiration gained from this man and his vision.
This car is to expensive i have seen 0 in sweden xDDD
me 2 lol
+ItsErlis Al hahaha
Dubai , china
Koenigsegg is one of those rare cars in which you feel like you are in something, something big and powerful...
It feels like your in a cabin of a very big alien machine!
That's a very beautiful car I want one. Can you make me one?
well that's not nice! :( lol! but I guess since you're making it and I'm not and you're making it for me you should probably make yourself one first...
His vision has become reality, probably the best road car ever produced.well done sir.
So aerodynamic ... his bald head
aba aba its a perfect aerodynamic surface
What a great contribution this man has made to future vehicle builders! Thank you sir. Fantastic work.
Entity XF
Inside overflod xD
gta 5 =)
Casey Leadingham ko
Nothing more beautiful than a hand built supercar.
do you think this car worth that much of money?
nope...
ㅣ
+Raka Gunawan Yes.
+Dncmaster no its not
r34r33r32 r34r33r32 Would you fuck off? It's my opinion
I need more! That was a video about a tube and I was blown away. That was a great video and I want to know how the rest of the car was made. MOAR!
I sure wish he spent a moment explaining how he made a complex, tubular / 3D shape out of CF with NO SEAM ...!??
no, if you listen closely, he says they use what's called "prepreg" carbon, short for preimpregnated.
A brilliant star in the motor vehicle universe... thank you for devoting your efforts for the betterment of enthusiasts everywhere!
This man is pure genius. These cars are incredible. They are light years ahead of their competition. I just wish I could afford to have and drive one.
I wish all cars had this much thought and passion put in to them.
Amazing commitment to excellence and has not slowed down since!
What a brave move, Mean while every single company make it confidential process in carbon fiber. But Christian Koenigsegg explain every single detail & production procedure
Underbart! Svenskt hantverk evolution💪🇸🇪👍
I could watch this video countless times
This company is just so inspirational, and i as a german and proud of our automobilindustry can say that no german carmanufacturer can meet that high standards. (you should know even the Bugatti Veyron was developed by Volkswagen engineers)
World most expensive car made by hands. I appreciate you !!
5 years ago when i saw the agera r I instantly fell in love with the design... Its just beautifull...
I saw one back in 2015. Stunning looking car.
What an extremely eloquent and logical gentleman
this video never gets old
This is so freaking interesting I would love to work in a place like this especially with Carbon Fiber I love CF!
Considering they make all their own parts, even their own brakes, its insane how much he knows about the construction process.
Boy, what an ideal host for this documentary.
Fibreglass as well. The whole process is a lot of fun to do. Ive never done carbon fibre tho, but kinda the same process. Man, I wish we had CF in my robotics class in High school haha. Rock on man. ^^
Hats off to you Hr. Köenigsegg :)
The song is called "Forest At Night" by Alex Arcoleo and it can be found at sound cloud.
was looking for a track which was at the end of the this video. perhaps you know it too :)
A true commitment to excellence. I appreciate the thinking that goes into these cars, every part designed to be the best ,in both quality and function.
