2 tips if you ever start a car company: Cut the costs somewhere such as keys headlights and rims Tune cheap cars or use engines of other cars(stock or tuned) Once you earnd enough money start making your own engines
Everyone’s on here in the comments wanting to have their own company but don’t forget Christian went through a lot of heartache and it took years to even come up with a prototype. Not to mention his dad was a business man and so was Christian and he took another path while this dream was on the back burner, so with that said I’m not saying don’t go for your dream but just keep those things in mind when you come across the roadblocks. If you want it bad enough, you’ll have it. Just look at Christian, he did whatever it took and had what it takes to be at his level, he’s a great example of how passion and determination can get you anywhere, look at Enzo and ferrucio, those guys had relatively humble beginnings, and see where they are today and the legacy they left behind
100%, however in relation to cars i think it's safe to say the days of it being possible to start your own car company are over. the technological barrier to entry is so large now that you basically need to have a couple of million dollars to make a prototype even mildly interesting to a potential investor. Mate rimac will likely be the last automotive founder and i think he was the right man at the right time, i don't think mate could have built what he has if he were to start today.
@ that’s an interesting point, especially when considering Rimac, rivian, lucid, and Tesla being still a young company whom have all erected fairly recently. So it’s interesting in that sense when you look at it that way, because if someone had a prototype, business plan, marketing strategy etc that’s compelling enough, then who’s to say there isn’t an investor who’s willing to take on something like that? I know it counteracts my former statement but for the sake of the debate, it’s actually on another hand; not quite over, really. If you think of how many successful bankers, and very wealthy individuals nowadays, it wouldn’t surprise me if it actually was easier to achieve that. I guess to tie into my point before I was more addressing the folks who just want to build their own super car, which in a sense, is already a niche market and highly competitive, so I guess my point in all of this is; it’s not necessarily impossible, it’s just super super difficult, and I think people tend to forget what amount of work goes into engineering, designing, manufacturing, distributing and servicing just one model.
@@joshpeck5842 I think these are interesting case studies. ignoring Rimac aside as I have already addressed it, Lucid, Rivian and tesla have very interesting starts imo nothing really at all like koenigsegg. something all of these brands have in common is that they started out when BEVs were relatively uncharted territory (circa ~2005-2010) and they were innovators in the technology, leading investors being more willing to put funds into such groundbreaking projects. however in this day and age, it is an established technology. looking at Spyker, TVR, Bristol among other niche supercar brands, even well established ones struggle to keep the lights on. really the only way to make your own car these days is to have extensive industry connections, have a successful career and being highly skilled in the design and manufacturing aspect of cars, dedicate decades worth of pain staking work to building a few precious examples with other skilled individuals and then you might have a few driving examples you can give to the press and some you tubers. The TVR speed 12 remake that drive tribe covered comes to mind. I think what i'm trying to say is that the age of sensational founding stories of intoxicating brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini and most recently Koeinigsegg and Pagani are long gone. because the capital needed to create something competitive in the market is so high now, the best one can hope for is that they can muster a few prototypes that might show what could have been if they were made in another time. IMO restomodding still has a massive market. give the cars we love of old a new lease on life and people will pay. singer, alfaholics, tuthill, the list is endless. I personally would want to see an NA/NB MX5 restomod as i think the foundation is superb and there are lots of examples and owners out there willing to pay the right price for an upgrade. thanks for reading my borderline essay haha, i think this topic is an interesting one
