I like my SDR. Trigger and sights are almost as good as my K6s. I did change the stock SDR grips to the Pachmayr grips that came on my S&W 649-3. The Pachmayr grips change the grip angle slightly and allow me to get on target more instinctively- like a 1911 does. The Pachmayr grips also provide a larger grip surface for all my fingers and better recoil comfort. I do not worry about the Pachmayr grips for pocket carry, as I do not pocket carry the SDR due to it's exposed hammer. Revolver pocket carry job goes to my Kimber K6xs. Diamondback correctly claims that the SDR will fit in J-Frame holsters and accept J-Frame grips.
I agree; my Kimber K6s is gonna be hard to beat. I’ve owned every snub brand known to man over the last 30 yrs and this snub is by far my favorite! I changed my grips to engraved Altamont “rosewood” grips and now complete beauty and performance in the TOTAL package as my EDC. This DB SDR sparked my interest looking alot like mine but price is more than I expected. I’d like to try one and hope to find a used model soon.#Snub❤@davidbarnes7711
This SDR looks great and big time on my want list. Being a 6-shot is a plus in this size revolver. The high polish will be easier to clean. Hopefully they will add a 3" version.
I think they will be $500 once production ramps up more and they are more widely available. Good to see a better known UA-cam channel reviewing it. Not much info yet on the production guns.
Good review, I want to research more, Diamond back is about an hour up the road from where I live. I like to keep money in Florida when I have a choice. It would be cool if they came out with a 9mm cylinder if for no other reason than flexibility.
For a little more you can get a Kimber or a Colt. If this was 500-600 it would be an awesome deal. DB is not a well known maker nor is it stocked in many stores.
I like the sites, cylinder latch, grips and the polished stainless steel. Pocket carry with jeans isn't bad with a 21ounce revolver. I pocket carry my S&W Mod 60 357 Mag without any weight issue problem.
@CHEECHMUN I don't have a problem with the hammer as U put my thumb around it and rest the pad of my thumb on the rear site. This shields the hammer allowing for a smooth draw
@@Patriotx-gx4ce czech made ria imports are the best bang for buck on market right now but they dont have a longer model which they need al9.0 and al22 and al3.1 i think theyre called
Great overview, Just picked up my SDR, mine is the high polish version and is a beautiful well built revolver and worth every penny of the $650 plus tax I paid for it.
My favorite grips for a small frame revolver, the Pachmayr GuardianGrip, was discounted. I put them on my Taurus Model 85 ultra lite. It absolutely changed the way that gun shot, or at least how I shot that gun. Its a plastic two finger revolver grip. However, there's a button under the shooters middle finger that activates a spring loaded pinky rest. Making the grip go from a concealable short grip to an, actually shootable, full grip. I don't understand why they were disconnected. They give a revolver the best of both worlds. Concealable but shootable.
Beautiful and since not familiar with brand and their revolver thats all I can say. Seems as well trigger is very smooth and lightweight compared to some others. Finish is absolutely amazing. Yes looks definitely like clone off Kimber. Push latch for release is great like Ruger. Best way to do it.
For the price I’d probably go with an sp101. It does out feature the sp but that ruger has the reliability behind it due to the time available. They need to drop the price 150-200 to be worth it to me. I’m finding sp101 for 550-600. These are going for over 700 on some sites.
I have both. I like them both. I have Hogue grips on both and they are comfortable to shoot. The SDR is smaller than the SP101 and it holds an extra round. My SP101 has a 3 inch barrel. I have a DB380 I use for concealed carry. I have to get shoulder holsters for the other 2.
That’s what’s missing for me. The gun has been out for months and there are so few reviews and nobody really stress testing it with hundreds of rounds of.357 to see if anything breaks.
Too much for a new entry into the field from someone with no long term track record for their new platform and a history of selling into the low cost market. They seem to want to be a Kimber at a lower price point. Whether they managed to do so without cutting corners that will result in issues down the road is unknown. I hope they pull it off as prices keep climbing for the revolvers with long term reliability and quality. Never be an early adopter lesson was learned the hard way though. Honestly right now, I can buy a S&W 640 for not much more though I would rather go for a 3" Kimber for a little more than that. I carry a little larger early fixed sight MR73 3" when it is cooler out. The Kimber is highly under rated and offered in a 3" which I think is the minimum for a .357 mag to extract enough muzzle energy out of the round to make it worth carrying.
@timjohnson8390 as a man who has carried just about all the compact revolvers, the K6s button (almost identical to this model) never got actuated in my pocket while carrying. Neither did the Ruger. The only one that did was the EAA 206 Colt-style, while holstering.
Nice review..have the Kimber but would have looked at this as an alternative....revolvers are far from useless....especially for pocket carry..most autos would be shoot once and done....not so with revolvers....I like having the option..especially with winter coming!
Why, in 2024, do revolvers still come with rubberized grips... It's the first thing that you have to do when looking at these is wonder if anyone makes non-rubberized grips for it.
Look at the Altamont S&W J-Frame round butt grips- they will fit. I changed the grips on my SDR to some Pachmayr grips that came from the factory on one of my J-Frame revolvers- fit great.
Sharp little snubbie. I was kind of shocked at the price point, though, from DB. They kind of hurt themselves in my opinion with the price, taurus and Ruger will definitely outsell them at the price they're available at. They definitely took an interesting direction with this revolver, though.
Thanks for the video mate. I have a question regarding the locks on the cylinder, does this have one cylinder lock? Do you notice a difference compared to a S&w 640 or Ruger GP100 who both now have an additional crane lock?
Diamondback please make this in 3"
Yeah, and a 4", and 6"
Agreed & 9mm cylinder
THIS! Beautiful revolver, would love the see it the same styling with a 3” barrel!
And in 10mm!

I swear, everytime I turn around, you have the gun I am looking at buying. Gotta say, you have some good taste!

The most informative review of this revolver. Thanks!
It looks like a Snubnosed Revolver straight out of video game “CyberPunk 2077”
I love the look! 🖤
Just ordered one in the black nitride finish. Look forward to getting it...
For $700.00 plus I would settle for the S&W 686 PLUS in 3". It's a proven reliable revolver.
Holy shitaki! I have to have one! Thank you for the video, sir!
Pimpin' Chrome is not my first choice for a finish on this gun. I wish they had done brushed stainless.
Picked mine up yesterday. It is a matte finish and I think it looks much better.
They’re almost 700$ I’ll pass. 700$ for a diamond back is just insane
500 would be great, lower than ruger, better quality & design than taurus
Yeah was thinking $350
