Stop it! Stop being so amazing and adorable! Thank you for saying what material the belt was, it's often overlooked by pros, but I do wish you guys would say what each fabric is. I have a hard time telling whether a fabric is plain cotton, knit, or jersey knit from the videos alone. Thanks.
Just a note for anyone that is doing this for cosplay, you want to use a satin that is not shiny because it will look like cheap (in photographs). So stay away from costume or bridal satin. This yukata came out very cute as well as the obi, good job Yumi.
@@arson5908 that's what I thought too, but then I realize that a kimono is made with silk, yukata is made with cotton, which is what she made the dress with
can i wear this style of kimono yukata on a event? tbh this is my first time doing this and there would be an event here in phil. around month of sept. so in your suggestion is it good or not?
Its pretty really, but If you are going to wear a kimono make sure you do it right, its left side pulled over right never right over left unless you are dressing the dead, some japanese would not like seeing that with their traditional style of clothing, but the fan is cute. just a heads up
+Nimena It's a mummy OoO it died of an accident which involved a sewing machine and a load of fabric pls =^.^= *tries looking innocent while saying that*
I have this pattern too and I've used it to make many kimono over the years. It's a solid pattern that allows for a lot of variation to make it exactly like a kimono with arm vents and a back seam or something different and fanciful with lace and cut outs. I hope more people give it a try cause it's a great and simple pattern.
THANK you so much!! So I am working on a piece for a friend who is too large for generic patterns, and I admit I have been trying to save money by finding a video to show me what to do with the shirt I am using for her pattern base. Yours was the 3rd tutorial I have tried for a simple view on how to do the kimono style top, and you are the ONLY one who actually showed the pattern pieces and physically showed the steps. I am a very physical and visual learner, I can't have someone just talk about it or draw it. So thank you so much for showing me this way, it is going to help me so much today
For anyone wanting to follow a tutorial like this one please remember- Always wear the left side over the right side. Unless your intention is to cosplay as a dead person.
I have this project for school that I'm supposed to do, and I need traditional clothing. I legit have NOTHING and it's due in a few days. And plus, we have to do it ALL IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE DARN IT
Yesssss! Thank you for uploading this! I needed a kimono pattern for my Saionji Hiyoko (hope I spelled it right) Cosplay from super dangan ronpa 2, Thanks Yumi!
Omg I tried doing this and it turned out to be a sweater. This whole time I thought the front bodice pieces were the sleeves so stupid me made a kimono sweater looking thing but it still looked good. Ty for the video Yumi!
Hi dear Yumi, thank you so much for this video! Since my sister and I are huge japanese fans, we fell in love with your kimono immediately. It was our first sewing project and we needed three days (and loooot of patience) to finish it xD Now we can wear it at our japanese dinners when we cook sushi and feel sooo cool!! Thank you so much again for this video! Keep on your great work :-)
thank you soo much making this tutorial I'm not sure anymore if i had asked to make a kimono diy but i think i did and this is soooo helpful thank you love your videos (maybe you just did it because you wanted to and not because i asked but I'm still really thankful )
you're so nice! your diy are really easy even for me (I'm a dummy w/ this things -.-)... go on this way and never forget the most important thing: enjoy!!
El kimono es súper bonito, me encanta. Siempre he querido ponerme uno pero no tengo celebraciones a las que asistir con el kimono :o. Te queda precioso Yumi n.n
I'd like to see more tutorials with "simplicity" patterns since I was considering but hesitating purchasing them. I'm glad they are available in Germany and finally can get the Kimono/Yukata pattern^^
the patterns already have seam allowances in them, no need to add more with any commercial ones, piece 2 is the back patern, but i liked the way you do yours. as an experienced sewer i like seeing people use their brain like you do when they might not have someone to ask or somewhere to take lessons. keep up the good work, you never stop learning
The left side of the kimono closure is supposed to be on top of the right side. The right side on top of the left is for a deceased person. Big difference!
The pattern she bought is from a store called Joann's. I would suggest either going to the Joann Fabrics website, or Amazon to find the pattern. If you live near a Joann's store, then you could go there and look at fabrics, too. I hope this helps. I can send you links for Joann Fabrics website if you need it.

I gave it thumbs up, as it's really great, New subscriber, Laura in England uk
Yumi, i would love to see a tutorial for a kimono similar to this one, only maybe a bit more lolita. and perhaps with a bit more volume on the bottom half. but i love this one too ♡
I appreciate this video so much! I need to make this yukata for Halloween, but the directions that come with patterns always confuse me. this was very straightforward. Thank you!!

itz so KAWAII
The choice of satin makes me think of those bathrobe kimono/yukata with the awkward box bow obi.
