Agreed with all points in the video. Personally I liked the Yak Track and would be all in favor of that returning and daily challenges again. If they tweaked the length of the hero pass, reduced the amount of impact to skillful activity via buffs, and brought back normal daily challenges I’d be very happy
Your first point is the most standout. Necromancy is the vehicle for engagement. They are trying to garner engagement with these daily MTX initiatives, when in reality they can just let the content do the talking.
I was excited for the battle pass update. I thought it was just going to be a more stream lined version of yak track with daily challenges included, but they did a 180 and released an extremely predatory system. The management of Jagex has lost sight of long term growth and retention for short term profit. I canceled my auto renew for membership for rs on my two mains, ironman, and hardcore ironman. I've started playing FF14 online, they have a lengthy free trial before you have to sub and I've rather been enjoying it. Jagex will only learn when you hit them were it hurts, their revenue.
one of the annoying things for me is I have like 20 years of membership unlocked from previous events rewards and shit but all of that membership time is not premier lol since theres no way I can convert normal membership into premier at a discounted rate I'd have to go out and purchase a year on top of all of my preexisting time at full price
a note id like people to cover, they all say "oh yea all games have a battle pass now, theres no getting around it" well how come i can skip the whole battle pass of a mainstream triple a game for a fraction of the price.
Just to add to it. As an ironman, the herb drop nerf was hell already, making farming runs mandatory was bad enough, but now my daily source of herblore xp, daily/weekly/monthly reset tokens and dtds are just gone forever. Ironman mode is already a challenge, and herblore is already a pain to level. I rushed max so that I could use the dailies to force a herblore xp drop to help subsidies my way to 120. So now I guess I'll never hit 120 cause even doing penguin points without a weekly reset is just pitiful. So thanks for ruining my experience jagex and replacing the actual useful items with oddments I can't fucking use.
I'm here to express my displeasure at the hero pass, I'm sure Jagex was aware of all this before implementing a "huge core game update" but they did it anyway. Extremely disappointed
Take out the XP buffs, damage reduction buffs, and clue buffs in the hero pass. Its blatant P2W when other players can spend lots of money skipping the whole track. Incorporate old daily challenges into the new system but with a few changes: First change them to be a specific skill or a choice of activity. Secondly change the reward to a large lamp, 1 key, and some points on the track. Thirdly reduce the amount of time it takes to complete each task to reduce the dailyscape like they said they would. Finally make ironmen able to access the large lamp since they got shafted hard during the daily challenge removal. For rewards cosmetics and oddments are fine, if they really wanted to they could add bonus XP stars for purchase. They also need to tone down the amount of time you need to spend to advance in the pass. If they want to make it so players can't rush through it, give a buff to current and old tasks each day so players can't rush through it but are able to complete and catch up easier each day. That's what I think could change the battle pass for the better. It would reduce dailyscape and also help people gain xp while being rewarding and a fun distraction to do each day.
I think the issue is that this update was handled so badly and they KNEW how bad it would be received. It was intentionally kept vague and during the live stream they never mentioned skips or anything. But on Day 1 it was all revealed and Jagex goes radio silent. Unless they make dramatic changes, this is it for a lot of players.
Remove lgbt characters, pride month, mental awareness from rs and this will garner new younger gen to play. Necromancy didnt have left leaning politics and did well because it wasnt about that. runescape should continue to be a game not a medium for liberal content. other than that, hero pass is fine the way it is keep it focus as a small reward that already exist in game skip tokens, skip tasks, and etc.
Dude, Free keys x3 should remain.... there is nothing wrong with free 5 keys ED... half the time they just give you junk anyways. The old system was PERFECT.
