    After seeing this (and other) video I bought a Hansa C7 second hand for my bamboo management and put hundreds of culms through. Excellent, only wish I bought one years ago.
    I had a pile of then dry bamboo about 1.5m high x 2.5 m wide x 10m long which the professional tree people were not interested in mulching and which would have meant a lot of trips to the council green waste facility. That was the first job for my C7. Dry bamboo blunts the blades. When blunt the machine works harder and the mulch becomes stringy. I made a sharpening jig out of a hinge welded at the angle of the blade bevel, bolt the blades on and hone on 280 grit wet and dry paper on a flat bit of glass. Honing only takes a few minutes, but removing and replacing blades makes it more like a one hour job. Much better results if I hone the blades after a full day or so of mulching dry bamboo. The instruction manual says to mulch when green; wise words.
    Now I have the machine I mulch within days of cutting so it is mostly green bamboo which cuts much easier and doesn’t blunt the blades as fast.
    I tested second hand chippers of other brands including a 12hp job before getting the C7, and they worked on other sticks but performed badly when I put bamboo through. Now I know the importance of sharp blades for bamboo it is possible they too would have been ok if sharpened but I’m perfectly happy with my C7 and am glad they failed so I ended up with this excellent machine.
    After a warning scratched face when wearing goggles I bought an expensive full face wire mesh helmet with ear muffs. I will not use the mulcher unless wearing it!
    So thanks for posting the video, it put me on the right track.

    Your dog is probably wondering where all the sticks went. 🤣 we have the C7 at work. After lockdown our gardens were probably 5 feet high with veges that had gone to seed. I ended up stripping the large plants and chipping it all straight onto the beds. Along with some chips and some compost as a culture. My beds are looking great and after Cjristmas should be ready for replanting with mulch added. There has been no regrowth.

      🤣 she does give you funny looks when you throw sticks in, l think mulch is the secret to any successful garden. Thanks for watching

    Hi. Im looking to buy one of these for chipping gracilis slender weavers bamboo. I have a 7 meter hedge which i trim to 3 meter height. Have you put 30 or more canes through it? no clogging , I'm also wondering how long I would get out of the blades.

      @Sawnut.  5 років тому +1

      Hi, I've put a lot more than 30 canes through it, did clog once but I had the shoot diverter facing down for best results I would have it pointing upwards or straight out. can't really tell you about the blades lasting I'm still wondering about that myself

    Hi Dave, just love it: Someone working with heavy duty power tools wearing thongs. Must be Australian! Nice looking chipper. Seems to work very well. Almost stalled it with your larger pieces of bamboo. Obviously not a full 6.5 Hp motor running there. Maybe what has been said of Hansa is that they are using cheaper Chinese {underpowered} motors. Thanks.
