Thank you a great deal. Thanks to you we could learn a lot about great England. I am enjoying watching this video very much. And you, chaps , have a great sense of humour!
How could the history books have got it so wrong!? More of these highly factual, in-depth historical investigations please. Oh and get your sidekick to pay more attention! ;-)
Wikipedia says ... The Tavistock Canal is a canal in the county of Devon in England. It was constructed early in the 19th century to link the town of Tavistock to Morwellham Quay on the River Tamar, where cargo could be loaded into ships. The canal is still in use to supply water to a hydro-electric power plant at Morwellham Quay, and forms part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. It is unusual for a canal, as it has a gentle slope over its length, resulting in a considerable flow of water
Another funny video Richard. You and Tim need to do more like this, you're a right pair!! Very interesting to see Tavistock, I was chatting to my boss at the Bluebell today and this town was mentioned. I'm going to send him, another Richard, this for him to watch. Thanks guys for the laughs, hope the pigeons didn't eat your bread ha ha
Tavistock is a lovely town - so much of what you see (guildhall, market etc) was built by the Dukes of Bedford. The railway line on the viaduct used to have the south western main line from Exeter to Plymouth until that line was closed in the 60s and the GWR main line was used instead. There is a possibility of the railway reopening to Tavistock from Bere Alston to allow trains to run to Plymouth.
Another brilliant episode. Tim and you are quite a team ad well. It’s the looks he gives you that’s so funny. Well done amazing filming as always.thank you.
2022 Wish List: 1. Tim Tricker to buy a van and him and the bald explorer go on Van trips together. 2. Tim Tricker start his own UA-cam channel or his own submissions to the Bald Explorer Channel 3. More input from Tim!
I too found the comment about the lady walking by demeaning and out of sync with your usual videos, I'm sure you wouldn't have said that if it was Julia you were with. Pete
I love those old viaducts and road bridges, which there are a few around Devon. Tavistock and surrounding area is the Devon I like and so not into busy places. Looking forward to the next one Richard! Vanlife suits you sir.
Loved that shot in particular when the birds came down near the river, captured that place fantastically the area looks beautiful and love the satire as well 🤣
Tavistock is a nice town, thanks for showing. I'm with you Richard on the pronunciation of scone, I usually add the word orange when ordering one from a local eatery. Yummy sweet.
Tavistock looks awesome. Loved the viaduct. If only they reinstated the railway that would be wonderful to see and help reduce the amount of traffic on roads. A good mixture of humour, wit and excellent videography. Thanks so much Richard and Tim. 😊
Loved you filming my town!! The canal was used to take tin and copper down to Morwellam quay where it was transported by sea, there is a beautiful walk along it maybe if you visit again which goes under another viaduct. There is talk of reinstating the railway from Tavistock to Plymouth which is much needed. The Tavistock viaduct has unfortunately been the place of suicide, fairly recently a young girl took her own life by jumping off it. I was born in the South East but was very surprised to discover recently that my great grandfather was born in Tavistock! I have come home!
Oh Plymouth.. Home. I do miss it, my family is there. My football team is there. I was going to move there to live with my Gran but 2020/2021 happened 🙄 Tavistock is lovely. I do miss the love and the atmosphere and I hope you enjoy it. Plymouth is something special (but I may be a touch biased)
Us 2 again and of course lived near Tavistock in my teens and visited later when we lived in IVYBRIDGE!! Tavi now famous worldwide for getting rid of the Mc Donalds. What do you expect from a town famous for its FOOD. (And bread!) The Chinese Takeaway has survived. Always fancied the Girl behind the counter... YES. They had 2 Stations and 2 Railway company's competing. The town has grown 3 times the size since they closed. The roads have not grown 3 times the size to match. Not been there for about a year now. Very hidden but by the weir the mini waterfall the Tavistock canal starts and goes under the footpath. very small it goes through a tunnel eventually, and emerges high above the Tamar. Harnessed to provide Electricity. Which at some times of the year is used to pump water back to the Tavy to water Plymouth. Bit Topsy Turvy in my mind. Or Tamar Tavy. Love David and Lily.
Great advert for Tavistock. Did you wake up in the morning and decide to fool about a bit more ?Poor old Tim looked more than a little nonplussed at times !!
Another great Vobavision production, but Richard you are far too soft on your skivvy, give him a taste of the "cat 'o' ninetails" and he'll soon buck up his ideas. On a different subject - I frequently cook with Chicken stock and Lamb stock, but never tried Tavi stock can you tell me what it tastes like?
Tim tricker buy van both u can do it up Richard can do DIY video then be good project great place visit conwall great place to be great video Richard and tim
Thanks

Glad you enjoyed it

Great viewing, stunning scenery, loving the series.
Nice comedic chemistry, Gents. Beauty content, as well. Mucho appreciato from a quite mild, 1st of January, here in northern Ont. canader.
first time in decades we haven't had >-30 degree temps.
Thanks gent's i really enjoyed your little jaunt round Tavistock. What a lovely place

My second visit in 12 years and I loved it. I bought a walking hat for Dartmoor there the first time and still have it.
Lovely film. Especially liked seeing the water through Tavistock.
Thanks, Rachel - it's a beautiful river, isn't it?
@@RichardVobes it certainly is! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your adventures further into Dartmoor.

You too are making us laugh and at the same time teaching us about your visiting and traveling.
We try. Thanks, Katherine
Your scenes by the River Tavy I found so relaxing, replete as they were with the sound of tumbling water & the sight of amphibious ducks.
So pleased you enjoyed it, Suzy.
I'm definitely with Tim when he says scone. Lovely video again. Thank you both for this
If I got a horse and a gypsy caravan could I join Van Club? 😆 Another wonderful episode, thanks fellas 😁💜

@@peterstretton8586 I have to agree with the two comments here. Completely uncalled for remark towards the lady which was bad taste and disrespectful.
Another great episode in some lovely places, lovely historic streets and some great views.

Orange scone, eh? Sounds interesting!
Great video, you looked chuffed on the bridge! Enjoying your travels around Devon
Thanks, Steve. It was great fun.
I was there 2 days ago having lunch with my wife by the side of the market. Such a nice place. I live in Saltash.

I think Drake's house isn't too far from Tavistock with a massive, and I mean massive, barn in the grounds. We'll worth a visit.
Sounds wonderful - thanks, Carol.
Scone, - you've got it right Richard, if it was scon it wouldn't have an 'e' on the end.
There you go! Thanks, Chris!
Great advert for Tavistock. Did you wake up in the morning and decide to fool about a bit more ?Poor old Tim looked more than a little nonplussed at times !!
Fool around, me? Never.
Hello Richard, I couldn't help noticing, your friend looks like past US president Lyndon Johnson. He could easily pass for his brother.
The canal was used for submarines durring the war that is why the bridge is so low .
Ah yes, that makes sense. :)
The Canal was a Canal end up at Morwellham Quay on the river Tamar
Thanks, Robert.
P.S. you right it was a drain too. The canal was built to have a flow so it could power water wheels
The Balds Explorers ❤
