Thanks for the great video and instructional. I just did this project on a M477. Only difference is the sides come off/on differently, but easily figured out. Did break one tab though, but still side attached fine and functions great. Instead of prying with a flat blade screw driver, I used plastic pry bar tools used on car interiors. Worked great. Comment on the two screws holding the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) and using a magnetized screw driver is very important. I did it without, but had to go fishing with a magnet on the right side when a screw dropped. Left side not much of a problem. When pulling out the ITB, make sure the ink cartridge tray is pulled out. If not, the ITB will not come out. Some how mine was in and I recognized that was holding it up and pulled it out and the ITB easily pulled out. All in all a pretty easy DIY, when you have a good video to work with. I feel I could do this job over and over, with out any aids going forward. Hopefully I won't need to.
he's working like he wants to break a record.... for such a video, take a little more time... let the camera show critical moments when removing small parts and .... don't try to be as fast as possible...
If I have a piece of paper stuck in the part below the transfer belt, where the white rollers are... would this disassembly be what I would follow pretty much? It looks like I still might not be able to get to the part where I need exactly. What a PITA this looks like.
Funny how the modern printers remind me of the snap together model car kits I put together as a kid !! ... Pardon me Ma'am, the crunching, popping sounds are normal for this procedure, sounds even worse putting the panels back on !! ... ... why I always preferred taking these into another room or to the shop !! LOL
Fixed that issue for mine…the printer was transported with open toners installed. Above where the black toner sits inside the printer there is a black line (actually two, one of them is an opening). That cut out is where the laser is emitted towards the drum. Apparently some toner was blocking the laser up there. I used q-tips (remove the toners and move the tray half in for easier access) and gently swiped that opening. Did black copies to test and got immediate progress. So I continued cleaning and after a few q-tips the tips didn’t turn black anymore. -> prints look fine again. Problem solved.
They are lock levers. Rotate them down and to left to release them. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pull the levers away from the printer toward you until they stop.
Great video! I hate the design of these models. Once the Transfer Belt or Fuser goes out (which are VERY common consumable items) and the warranty is over, the repair ends up costing more than the printer is worth (considering cycle counts at that point) and people just toss them out. Very Sad and not a very eco responsible design.
Don't run them into the ground. Rotate them before they wear out. When they get high mileage demote them to light duty for someone who prints occasionally.
I had a sheet of perforated, tearable labels get jammed in the back of the printer from tray 2. When I was trying clear it from the back, 2 of the 10 perforated labels tore off. There is no visible piece of the label showing anywhere for me to grab and pull out to clear the jam. Would this be the place where the labels would be stuck?
I work for an independent, professional workshop. ( 40 years experience) Love the brutal handling with the screwdriver! (1:49) Should be reported to amnesty printernational. There is NO tool required to remove this plastic part. (except to unscrew two screws) Why do you use those stupid gloves? Is the printer radioactive or toxic? HaHa! btw. nice ESD proof workbech. Anyway. Thank you for the video to see a useful detail.
@@MichaelArghyris HaHa! The stupidest excuse ever! Is this a cleanroom printer, of course with toner powder, which is so sensitive that a few fingerprints are harmful? Or is the technician a wanted criminal who doesn't want to leave fingerprints? The IBT or the 2nd transfer roller can also be mounted in such a way that the crucial areas are not touched.
Mi hp color laser jet pro mfp m377dw, solo me imprime a color en negro nada?. tiene toner original ya probe con otro y sigue la falla. alguna posible solucion?. Saludos
Thanks for the video, but the M452/M477 ITB is not the same as the M454/M479. The way of installing is the same but the m452 itb has 2 conectors and the m454 itb has just one. Do you know what difference it makes?
That is a very good Video thank you...I got a Pro MPF M477FDW i really think, people that is going to do this, is to fallow your example by using gloves, just to be safe like you are doying just to be safe Agrre ? ? your in My favories , for when i need things. thanks !!
Your video is very informative I've watched several from your site however please talk me through it. You do a lot of work without saying what you're doing or why you're doing it A simple mention like these panels have to come off. Make sure you disengage this clutch. Just talk me through it please The more work you do without me knowing what it is or why you're doing it just makes it more confusing
The video was instructional, but it took me over an hour to do what he did in several minutes. Firstly, the videographer was not in an optimal spot. With mostly one view, the operator's hand obscured some of the steps he was doing. Some of the actions he performed, he did so without explaining, and when he installed the wire plugs he didn't explain which plug (black or white) went on the top or bottom (or whether it made any difference).
Good afternoon. I work for HP, and I'm watching your video to troubleshoot a problem. Thank you very much!

He does mention at 4:20 into the video that he is using a magnetic screwdriver though.
Working on a 477 currently, does the toner tray have to be completely out from the machine, or just pulled out
Good question... Did you find out the answer? I'm currently stuck trying to get the transfer belt out.@@davidsibble7429

I'm a DIY type but this is a situation where buying a new printer makes a lot more sense.
looking at replacement belts it seems as though there are some with one connector and others have two connectors. How do you know which to order?
@metrofuser do you have a tip if the printer works fine except black? Is there something that can be misaligned on the ITB?

Good video could describe what you're doing on the side just below the two motors, are you releasing two clips thanks 😎😎

Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pull the levers away from the printer toward you until they stop.
this is nice but what happens if the printer prints blank pages after replacing
Working on a 477 and have a spring which I can’t work out where it goes
Very good video, many thanks for sharing your knowledge learnt a lot from it.

4:40 What he does here is slide the 2 white plastic tabs down, then pulls them outward
Can you imagine the assembly line workers putting these together in China ... they can probably do it with their eyes closed ... such a puzzle !!
I have an m477fnw my prints coming out light could this be the problem ,I have already change the image transfer roller
EINFACH Super Anleitung nach 13 Schrauben...Alles OK! hp color laserjet pro m452dn!

He's wearing the "stupid gloves" in order to not get skin oils on the internal parts of the printer.

Changed mine outnow it wont print black. It prints color but not black. What do i do?
Clean the opening above the black toner inside the printer with a q-tip. Mine had toner up there after being transported.
Thank you very much
You are welcome

I can tell you're a professional and you have done this many times, but you are moving way too fast for my slow mind
This unit has been taken apart several times. None are that easy. Exoect a fight. Worst HP design itb ever.
