Great that Fox had featured Charlie Spivak as the band in this movie, a big first in a Betty Grable movie. Such a bright clean trumpet, great band plus the Stardusters doing the vocal. Just beautiful!
This movie is part of the Marquee 20th Century Musicals collection that came out a while ago. I have each and every movies of the collection on DVDs. Did I ever enjoyed them.
The real star of this clip is trumpeter and band leader Charlie Spivak. He was at the top of horn players along with Harry James. Spivak had a special tone, unmatched by any of the other great trumpet players. His singers, the Stardusters, were excellent close harmony singers on a par with the Modernaires and Pied Pipers.
The vocal group singing "Give Me The Simple Life" in "Wake Up and Dream" definitely sound like an all-girl group, quite likely The Lyttle Sisters. There is a short clip of them in a nightclub sequence in "Abbott and Costello in Hollywood." Check it out and compare the sound.
@@jakej.5996 The Army Air Force orchestra under the direction of Capt. Glenn Miller also had a wonderful rendition of this tune recorded in 1943 with Bob Carroll doing the vocal. Check it out.
Wow! What a beautiful romantic tune, I never knew how lovely the Stardusters sounded with the Charlie Spivak Orchestra. Classic big band!
This music..another life...

June was a wonderful singer and beautiful performer. She and her famous sister Ina Ray grew up in Chicago in a talented family.
