It was way back in the summer of '77 I had the pleasure of seeing Ramsey Lewis and his band at The Ontario Place Auditorium, Toronto, Canada. Still the best 5 dollars I've ever spent......!
that's so cool. watching this I wonder "what would it have been like to be there?" I'd imagine an absolutely great crowd in Ontario back then.

Wow! What a beautiful romantic tune, I never knew how lovely the Stardusters sounded with the Charlie Spivak Orchestra. Classic big band!
One of the greatest drumbeats of all time. Too bad it wasn't mic'd right. Can hardly hear it.
Formidable trío de cuatro
En ese tiempo era un grupo: DE CACHÉ, CLASE APARTE, FUERA DE SERIE Y MUCHA CALIDA. EL GRAN BINOMIO DE ORO.
I was just scrolling on my phone , and found this tune. MMMH, NOT a mistake. I found real music. I just made my day. Love RAMSEY LEWIS

The Kearsarge was not CVS until 1959 I was aboard from 1958-1962 and we did operate with subs during asw exercises of course but I was in CIC most of the time so i would have missed the scenery anyway. We chased Russian subs sometimes when SOSUS picked them up in places too close for politeness. Once we held one down for 19 days and then either lost him or quit playing. We picked up some Russian Marines lost on a landing craft and given up for dead by Russia. We were on our way back from WESPAC in 1961-62 and our COD mail S2F saw them shortly after they took off and they radioed back to us that they appeared to be military. We circled them for a long time and took them aboard and took them back to the soviet embassy in SF. About 3 years ago i received an call from Moscow from a young Russian journalist who interviewed me about the affair which i remember fairly vividly, at least what i witnessed. Those guys were way out of shipping lanes when we found them and they were in bad shape so i am sure they remember it even more vividly. Second thought..the Russian news guy said he could only find one of them, a Ukrainian and i am thinking he wasn’t interested in Russian TV. I remember the K more fondly now in my old age. The ship was not comfy at all..no heating and more important no A/C which made hot days and nights miserable. Stretch canvas “rack” and 3 inch mattresses were the thing but we were young and working “port and starboard” watches which made us so tired we could sleep on anything. When we stopped in Pearl Harbor on way to WESPAC once a couple of our aviator division officers took me and a couple of other enlisted guys on a flying tour of the islands..over and down low over beaches.Lt Ingram let me take the plane for a little while..telling me I was a “natural pilot”. True but also irrelevant since i did not have the job. We had wonderful division officers in CIC as naval aviators are always the best. I joined the navy to get away from home and by gosh the navy did just that..in spades. I met my wife during my service and we are still married 63 years later. I do not understand the reluctance of young men to go experience the service..any of them. I would not trade the time for anything and the services are all good depending on what you want to do.
