It's amazing how much this line has changed since I lived near Longbeck crossing - both of the catch points (one about 10 yards west of the end of the westbound platform at Marske and the othe about 100 yards east of the Redcar Road bridge) have both been removed with the end of partially fitted freight trains in the late 1980s. Other, earlier, changes include the removal of the sidings serving the ironstone mines at Upleathem (between the Redcar Road bridge and Redcar East station) also gone is the link to the RAF depot at Marske and the slow lines in to Saltburn from Tofts (about halfway from Saltburn to Marske) along with the signal box at Tofts.
