A few years ago, when I got my PhD in musicology in Cardiff, I bought myself a clavichord I found on ebay for a reasonable price. I was really excited about it, I'd wanted one for years but could never afford one, and got myself a few books on how to play including CPE Bach's work on it. Then covid hit and my life, like everyone's, went into a tailspin and got upended--I had to leave the UK, my home of 9 years, due to visa issues in 2021 and since then I've been moving from country to country looking for a new stable home. Long story short, I wound up having to sell my clavichord b/c I'd run out of money and had no place to store it long term. I hope the fella who bought it is happy with it, but I'll probably never have that chance again and I miss it. Hearing your playing brings tears to my eyes both for what I had and lost and the beauty of your performance.
Aww, Such a long story and life is long and short. I hope you can meet another Clavichord someday soon. until that time I will try to record more of Clavichord video. Nowadays I'm focusing on Organ playing mostly but I am so moved by lots of people enjoying clavichord playing. I will try, Thank you so much for sharing your story : )
Good, indeed, to hear our fine organists playing this most personal and demanding of instruments! A reminder of how often these works must have been played this way (no bellows operator required!).
We are living in a golden age of musical performances, revival of neglected master pieces, revival of neglected instruments, performances in the organ by women organists, people from all over the world restoring our culture to us. It is a great pity that the age is beset by xenophobia and reaction against the present and the future. For me this lady is one of those young people who have enriched my life and musical experience. People of my age tend to look back and celebrate the performers of their youth, and they miss the fact that these modern musicians are every bit as good as those of our youth and memory. Thank you young lady, you are one of those people tht make me glad I have lived long enough to experience this and to learn aspects of my culture I could not have known or heard but for you and all your generation. I a not religious but if I were you would restore my Faith in God and humanity which s sorely tested in the age of rancid, defunct politics. You are more persuasive than any evangelist.
@@benedictcowell6547 Thank you so much for your expression. I really appreciate this comment. This is inspiring me. I really wish you are happy and enjoy from my music
I was listening to Vivaldi and Bach pieces and stumbled across this. This sounds so good and the instrument is so nice, fits really well for the piece.
Ah! I have yet to hear this played on this instrument. When I was a student, In also studied this keyboard in addition to organ, harpsichord and piano. Bravo Yoon!
@@JongheeYoon Yes. I studied under Dr. Howard Kelsey at Washington University in St. Louis many years ago. I no longer play because of arthritis. My fingers no longer move sufficiently. I have a Baldwin Concert Grand piano sitting in my living room that hasn't been played in many years. My best to you Yoon.
It looks to me that you have three separate instruments stacked up, I don't know if that is historically accurate but it certainly is very clever. It gives more of the feeling of the organ the work was transcribed for. Excellent performance, thank you.
From what I understand, the lower clavichord and the pedal unit were built and meant to be used together, and the upper clavichord is a completely different fretted instrument that was simply stacked on top of the initial combination.
Excellent and great fun! I love your ornaments in the Largo. That's a really neat instrument, you've clearly spent a lot of time caring for it and it's beautiful.
Congratulations. The comments suggest that many viewers around the world are really happy and intrigued by your performance of Bach on a pedal clavichord that barely works. This suggests that they would highly appreciate recordings of your performing on a good peddle-harpsichord or, if not possible (they are not common), a good Baroque style pipe organ, even a small one.. Best wishes!
This was awesome! I really enjoyed your performance - thank you! So interesting to hear it on a Pedal-Clavichord - a very unforgiving instrument in unforgiving acoustics.
Bravissima! Molto precisa e riesci a stratificare spessori sonori anche se qui e molto molto difficoltoso. Molto precisa anche nell'esposizione dei fraseggi. Complimenti!
This is the most beautiful Performance I ever heard, from such a beautiful and rare Instrument, also your body motion is one with the piece, its justpure beautie, a musician with its instrument being one, this is, a real rare sight to behold, will watch it very often now🌠❤
At the same time, there's something about spending hours working on a piece on a small instrument like this or a small practice organ that makes you feel connected to the music in a way you don't necessarily get on a larger or louder instrument. For me, that instrument is the 2/6 Bosch tracker that was one of the practice organs at university.
Great playing! The effect of the pedal 16' is very satisfying... one suggestion: listen to the harmony - how does it affect you? Can you play it so WE are affected?
Wow! Splendid performance! Could you give us some technical details about the instruments, such as fretted/bundfrei (the top one looks like a fretted instrument) and the compass of each?
Hi! I’m literally in love with this video and how you interpret these remarkable pieces from Bach. Can you please tell me the name of the particular instruments you are using? Your video inspired me so much that I’m thinking about buying one for myself
Hello, Can you tell me what are the two red hardcover volumes on the lowest bookshelf on the right, next to the Bärenreiter Bach organ volumes? Thanks! (Wonderful playing, by the way)

Are these clavichords the same instruments that Mr. Karosi played and uploaded on Jan. 16th 2020?
@@gambasuki I think they are the same. I wonder whose it is. Are they very rare?
@@gambasuki This is exactly the same room as in Karosi's videos. You can see the furniture is absolutely the same.
I love how the foot pedal notes are so distinct to hear on this instrument! It really clarifies their rhythm and place in the composition!
