Evangelina, eres un Angel tocando este instrumento, haz aquilatado toda la sabiduría de otros intérpretes famosos de Laud, Tiorba, Vihuela que no voy a nombrar porque resumes: sonido, digitación, dinámica, fraseo, pausas y notación. Todo lo que haces son verdaderos discursos del método puro en música; la estética completa del barroco está en ese arco de sonidos que produces, desde el temprano renacimiento hasta el tardío barroco ese compendio. Soy intérprete de flauta traversera barroca que estudié en La Haya y te escucho porque simplemente tu música es arte en el estado más sublime y depurado. Gracias por permitir que la belleza fluya en este mundo.

i might be crazy but i think some of this is way easier to play on the lute for the simple fact that the hand shapes are less awkward than on a regular guitar
The allemande in this suite is one of my favorite pieces, and she plays it perfectly - not too fast, giving it room to breathe. Mark of a great musician (not just a great player).

Думаю, у каждого человека есть любимые произведения в музыке, которые проникают в самые глубины его души, "обнажают" её и как бы говорят - "вот я, беззащитная, мне нечего сказать больше, чем есть в этой музыке". Для меня эта сюита - одно из таких произведений...

What a difference it makes to the musicality hearing this on lute vs guitar. The bass notes end up creating a sort of duet with the melody due to the 8va up tuning of the courses. Very cool!
I've recently discovered this artist and I wanted to thank you for bringing these wonderful recordings of Bach to our attention. The artist is truly the master of Lute. This music calms my heart, i've been listening to it all day. Truly well done!

I've listened to J. S. Bach's music for nearly all of my life, and I'm 70, and played music for several decades ("classical" guitar, although that's a complete misnomer), and to me Bach's music sounds like talking, like a conversation.
No other music I've ever heard or played strikes me like this the way his music does.

@@antiv Yes, his music has always sounded like that to me, especially his organ music.
There is a fairly minor work by him which I will confess at the outset that I can no longer remember (and I haven't owned a recording of it in many decades) that sounds for all the world to me like an argument between two people. It really is amazing.
But that's what contrapuntal music really is: different voices crossing each other, sometimes harmonizing and sometimes clashing. But the subject is the same, and so it's like a conversation or an argument.
I felt the same way when I went to see a performance of Chopin, the left and right hand were two different people conversing. Now I am sitting here drinking my coffee in ultimate bliss trying in vain to digest every note. I am just a grain of sand swept away by the waves of Bach moved by a masterful musician.
I have associations like he explains something to me.

I really appreciate the subtle phasing and pace in Evangelina's interpretations of Bach. Bach's music is cerebral yet played with sensitivity is also full of emotion. And Evangelina does a beautiful job with her flawless playing. A true artist!

Più di cinquanta anni fa, ne avevo 14, acquistai con 2000 lire messe insieme con pazienza il mio primo LP, Stand up, dei Jethro Tull…dentro c’era un geniale arrangiamento della Bourree che fa parte di questa meravigliosa composizione bachiana.
E’ da lì che ho cominciato ad esplorare il mondo della musica classica e non l’ho mai più lasciato.

Absolutely beautiful. (and the playing isn’t too bad either.) Seriously, this is fantastic! I’m a guitar player, can’t even begin to play this stuff, but I love to listen to it. Herr Bach wrote some of the most advanced music the human race has ever created. The counterpoint, the voice-leading, the modulations-unbelievably brilliant. And Ms. Evangelina plays beautifully. Bravo!

Simply outstanding, I've always been a fan of both Baroque & Renaissance music either with the lute or the guitar. Ms. Mascardi is marvelous.

Yep. I feel the same way when I see piano virtuosos play 2 hour-long concertos with an orchestra, without any music sheets.
@linux maximus The human brain seems uniquely adept at remembering music, for some reason. I stopped playing guitar for around 8 years, but recently picked up my classical and was surprised that I could remember how to play basically all the songs I knew (as well as bits and pieces I made up myself), even if the muscle-memory/dexterity suffered a bit.
