You really had a cool Retro PC. It's great that you remembered the names of all the components. I would also like to build such a version. But such parts are much harder to find than what I show in my videos.
thats a fast pc compared to my first one from 1996 I think! Intel pentium 2, 300mhz it had 8mb 266mhz ram and a 16 mb gpu!best of all was... it had 20mb sata harddrive!
Oh man! This is my JAM! I referb old Dell's and make them into gamer machines. So the nostalgia here is riveting! Thanks for posting. Oh and you are very cute! LOL
That's not the sound of Windows XP loading, but the sound of the disk running on those metal platters and loading files :-D Even if you had Win 7, it would have the same sound 🙂
Nice build Nat & No blue smoke when powered on! ;) I wonder what's on the floppy disk? :/ Purple & Orange definitely match too! :) Take care, stay safe & keep well. Slava Ukraini. 🙂 💙 ✌
I didn't have another cable to connect the Floppy Disk Drive, but next time I will definitely connect it! And then I will show in a new video what kind of info is on the floppy disk.
You state in the video that the board is a ECS P4VXASD2, but it's actually a ECS P4VXASD2+ v5.0, which has faster FSB, faster ATA, and 3 onboard USB headers instead of 2. The manual says you can't use DDR and SDR simultaneously, and you have all J2A/B/C/D and J3A/B/C/D connectors closed with jumper strips right next to the RAM and above the blue IDE connector, so DDR is enabled and SDR is disabled. I know because I have that same board. The BIOS shows 524288 KB, so it's only "seeing" the 2x 256MB DDR.
You cannot use SD and DDR memories at same time. You can use one of them at same time. I have this motherboard's red PCB one. This motherboard doesn't support USB 2.0, it support usb 1.1 only. I recommend purchase USB 2.0 PCI card and install it. USB 1.1 is too slow 🐢🐢
This is the longest video on your channel right now🎉🎉🎉 You're going to do longer videos, shorter videos, or keep the video length the same in your next videos? Answer this question. Anyways, yet another really great retro PC build video from you. The _"in this video"_ part at the beginning with the music was nice. I feel like I've learned more about retro PC building than from everything watching your video XD😂😂😂. You also look like you've informed yourself a lot about building a retro PC, so I appreciate this effort of you practically building it from scratch and showing us in this lengthy video! I got taken back straight to childhood watching the retro PC working, the CD insertion and the Windows XP startup LOL. Grew up with this OS and such setups; remember everything so clearly, the entire setup, the Windows XP logo fading in, the beeps, the old HDD rattling sound, _"welcome",_ the desktop, the _"Your computer might be at risk"_ pop-up, the startup sound 🤣🎉 had lots of great memories using this OS in my entire childhood and it will always have a special place in my heart; before obviously switching to newer Windows versions. The GTA III showcase and short playthrough at the end also was interesting! Overall an awesome retro PC lengthy video! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
