Sobriety provides everything alcohol promises but fails to deliver.

Me too. The moment I got rid of the narcissists in my life I stopped drinking and smoking pot.
I still have problems but for some odd reason I don't even think about these things anymore.
    It's awesome!
I am glad you made the choice to stop also.
    God bless you.

I was afraid to use the word Narcissist, but you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for watching and the support.

Good message but get rid of that silly background music while you are talking. It's very distracting.

Im 56. Was a popular, athletic kid growing up. Have had two strong careers, still in IT. Had a lot of influence growing up in the 70's and 80's, plus its in my genes. First smoked pot in third grade. Then not again until I was in 7th grade, at which time we also drank when we could get some. As for being a daily regular, that started in my 20's. Fast forward and VERY briefly... without intent, it all stopped earlier this year because for many reasons it was just such a hassle any more. It wasnt unlike in my early twenties when, with a cigarette hanging from my mouth working in a warehouse, smoke all in my face, I threw it down out of frustration and the hassle for the last time. For years I bought a couple 24 ounce beers each day, so that there wasnt any more beer in my fridge that night to drink. From what I thought might have been from vaping thc oil for a while, I had a high pitch when I coughed. I was going to the dispenseries often trying to figure out an alternative to smoking it, which edible or tar would be the best and most convenient/lowest cost, etc.... finally that day a handful of months ago, I was like this is such a hassle. Done. I didnt try and Im not trying, its just over. I hardly think about it any more. Its crazy actually but glad its happened. Good luck man, addiction is no joke. Happiness, love, relationships, camaraderie, content, interests, etc. are things we all need and deserve.

@@DoobsTheMansplainer Youre welcome, thanks for reading it. More for what its worth. I believe we are all born with mental imbalances, to greatly varying degree. We all have addictions too, to greatly varying degree. Drinking, smoking, eating, even playing sports, knitting, painting, reading, what have you... I could go on and on. They are in varying degree not only pleasurable and satisfying, but they can be habits too and pacifying (good or bad). Years ago I all sudden got into the habit of drinking water every day... only because my new in office job at the time had water coolers all over, and it became a habit, an oral habit like smoking or drinking also is (aside from the addictions to alcohol and nicotine) and among other things it did for me, it pacified me - the thought of getting up and taking a quick break to go get it at the cooler, and when I was taking drinks of it throughout the day. I now am pacified just by making a good dinner at the end of the day and sitting down, watching a documentary or movie, and also looking forward to some desert afterwards. I look forward to that now, during the day, the thought of it pacifies me like the thought of getting buzzed used to. Eating dinner was the hassle. I had to drink first, mostly because if I ate first I would get way too full having a few beers afterwards and it would also hinder my buzz, so then I was eating way too late at night, etc.... another contribution to the mental and physical hassle. Point is I hear you about craving sugar - it tastes good, it pacifies, eating (especially sugary) things is an oral habit. You just may find another way to get past that too, at least reduce it to a healthier level.

Alcohol is a blood thinner. Sometimes people die from bleeding in extreme alcoholism.

Respectfully disagree. No one can drive you to drink. People are 100% responsible for their own drinking.

what are you doing with all the money you save? i don't drink at all and never really had a problem. my old man died of that garbage in a VA hospital.
he got the DTs while being treated for pneumonia and lingered from the resulting stroke. just a wonderful alcohol story! he caught pneumonia from binging
for days on vodka. his alcoholic buddy dumped him at the emergency room and stole his car. they were from the greatest generation!
all the orderlies hated him because he shit the bed all the time, so they just let him lay in it. i could go on and on.
my motto: vodka is a wonderful solvent, it will dissolve you completely!
    cheers! (and depression)
