I love looking at people's gear, as a person who for lighting has a single desk lamp with paper over it and films edits and plans all on my iPhone 8.
Same (though I use a LG 6)
Landon Martin same
Same bro, but I use IPad Pro.
Cybotic Zombie let me guess, you use stop motion studio pro too?
BrickMonkey yep
Brotherhoodworkshop is, without a doubt, my biggest inspiration for animation. These behind the scenes videos really help with improving my animation! I can’t wait for more!!
Hey brotherhoodworkshop, I want to say That I watched The lotr when i was 8 and Then I found your channel. Ive been here since 2013 and you started my Joy for Animation and filmaking in general. THANK YOU!❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
People always ask about the equipment, but it’s all about the story and how you use the equipment you’ve got access to!
This channel almost single handedly inspired me to start my UA-cam channel
I love Stop motions. Making and Watching. It is hard work, but i love it. So i made many short films and uploaded them to my channel.
Can’t wait to see how you make these incredible stopmotion films!
I just wanted to say that your animations are some of my favourite videos on the entire plattform. K thanks
This is extremely helpful! My perspective on animating is the more you know the better. Many thanks.
Brotherhood is an amazing channel, just love it. They should have more Sucsribers
He uploads too rarely to have more subs...
He still deserves them, look at Lozaus1 he’s got over 2 million and he actually rarely uploads

Very helpful tutorial! Thank you for always sharing your awesome ideas!
Good job you are the number 1 lego stop motion animator!
Thank you for this. I will definitely get some lamps !
Great job man very cool that you can do all that with relatively simple gear. Shows you that talent/creativity is more valuable than gear. Keep creating!
Thank you for this! I need good desk lamps!
I really appreciate you making behind the scenes videos!
Yay a lot of content and it’s informative which is nice
Loved this. Your work is brilliant

Super helpful thanks I love you’re videos
I may get those desk lamps to use in my stop motions.
That was a great 'Behind-the-Scenes.' Really enjoyed it, man!
I am so excited today because I just bought a canon t2i! I am also going to buy boing I stop motion with my tenth birthday money! I cannot wait to see what amazing videos I can create with it!
Nice vid. The king has finally returned
Great video breakdown, I want to get back into stop motion on my other channel but ima wait until I can make enough off of UA-cam and working from home until I get back it due to being more time intensive. Looking forward to the future!
That’s awesome!
And then there's me using making Lego films with my iPad lol. Very smooth 👌😎
whatever works!
u should have over 1 mil subscribers or more, your stop motions and the humour are absolutely top notch! keep up the great work!
That'd be nice wouldn't it....one can hope!
Brotherhood workshop is my favourite animation channel in the universe
When your favorite UA-camr is back
Thanks man!
Love your lotr stopmotions!
Amazing!! Must take so much time and hard work!! ♥
There's a reason I haven't posted a new video in like 9 months 😅
Great tutorial ;)
To quote a well known dwarf: yyesss! This video has very good tips!
I loooove the bts vids and equipment and stuff
I love your Bad Lip Reading t shirt. Lol.
Wow this video was so helpful! I’m going to ask for the cheapest stuff for Christmas🤣🤣😂
I will DEFINITELY get the slider and maybe the c stand especially if it will help support you! I really can't wait for your new stop motion you are amazing man!!
Thanks very much! And yeah, the video is currently 2 minutes long and just keeps getting longer. Might end up being the longest LEGO animation that I've posted on this channel
Sounds Great I REALLY can’t wait! I hope to be one tenth the animator you are one day. (You are by far my favorite UA-camr) m.ua-cam.com/video/3FrjyWix560/v-deo.html here is a video I am working on, I tried to use all of your tips on lighting set design and many other things to improve it and I think this is my best work because of it! hope you like it 😁
Him: theres alot of other better stopmotion makers out there.....
Me: no, u are the best
You're absolutly right. I mean, who else could claim himself to be worthy of such title ? Hoopefully, he stay humble, but deep down we know he deserve to be called the best.
@@StudiosSkyplands Off the top of my head, I think Dylan Woodley and Forrest Whaley are objectively better. And there's a few others, but I can't remember their names immediately. But I do think I am quite good :)
And that's not including the dozens of animators whom I think are arguably better/on par with me.
@@BrotherhoodWorkshop I respect your enlighted opinion on the matter.
I actually checked both of them. I must admit Dylan Woodley is quite talented with lighting, and his pokemon battle are incredibly complex. Forrest whaley, well, i just doesn't really click with his style.
And i still maintain, in my humblre opinion, in my heart, you're the best.
And if i may add, the aggravation of Smaug is probably my favorite, and what i consider your masterpiece.
Your love story also, is really inspiring and lovely, and i got a thing for it also.
Amazing!!!!!♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I really started to get into stop motion animation recently and I just use a stop motion software app on my phone and make all my rigs out of lego
I have the same Seagulls shirt!
Again, your the master of LEGO stop motion! 😀 you deserve more subscribers, does anyone agree? 😀
Portal Master Studios yup
Cool Video
Wow. and I thought I was impressive using a webcam and ikitmovie. Great job!!
there sooooooo good
Awesome
Like this
I wish I had an actual camera... Btw you were the one who inspired me to actually start my channel
Awesome, very helpful. I’m wondering if you can make an other behind the video on how to layer and mask using adobe premiere pro 2020? Than you. All your videos are awesome.
You make amazing content please keep it up!!!
But I would really love to see a tutorial on how you do sound editing!!!!
Just found you as UT recomend it. Yes i realize now. Almost 8 month i starting UA-cam and doing stop motion. I have zero knowledge at yhe begining and i learn alot whole creating video. I use most affortable apps stop motion studio and my my mobole phone to create. However after 40 videos i upload and learn the tricks of stop motion i realize that it is a time for me to upgrade my gear and use dragon frame. Because current gear i have such as lighting equipment etc.. and apps that i ising now i feel it limited my dream to make it better cinematic stop motion. When i realize it i stop for a while uploading any video starting last week and focus on investment and more learning. I will come back again after i am ready. I dont care about YT algo. If positive then it is just bonus for me. I just like making stop motion and want my viewer have good experience while watching my creation. Thats all. Btw i like the way u explaining things in your video. I want to see me from you. Thanks✌
Cool
Holy shit! T2i?! I thought my T4i wasn't worthy enough to make films like yours!
I know right. I had a 60D for a while, but 2 years and it broke. So I decided "if I'm gonna keep breaking these, I should probably buy cheaper ones." And considering most of them need to be compressed down to a 1920 mp4 for UA-cam anyway, the difference in quality is marginal
@@BrotherhoodWorkshop totally. I figured something >$300 would be a good place to start out with more expensive brickfilming, turns out, I can get everything I need and more with what I have. The real piece to the puzzle of skill is experience and practice, something you have down!
One thing I wondered about is the cardboard beneath your tripod in one of the clips. How did that work out for you? I've been thinking of doing something similar, but it's difficult to get steady results on a carpet, even with a tripod. Thanks!
@@owenw.6627 I'm super cheap :) Which is both good and bad at times. As to the cardboard under the tripod, that was a clip from several years ago, and I was using the cardboard to slide the camera. I don't really use that method anymore. I used that clip cause it's one of the only pieces of footage I have showing my old tripod. It worked ok, but wasn't great. That's what the slider is for :) As to getting steady footage on a carpet, I have a few methods that help. 1. Is a piece of wood, which is much sturdier than cardboard. 2. is letting the camera sit for a bit before shooting so that it settles in. 3. is applying Warp Stabilizer in after effects to smooth out little jitters (this doesn't work for shots with lots of movement or if the background is too soft)
@@BrotherhoodWorkshop Ah! The wood is a great idea! I'll definitely have to look into that and see what I have around the house. A slider like the one you linked will definitely be another piece investing in. Thank you so much for the tips and ideas! That will definitely help! Good luck on the next film! I really look forward to seeing it! :)
Nice
I don't think there is a better lego animator than you
dude your animations are smoother than this behind the scenes video. That is impressive
I have a pro HD 1080P Widescreen Video Webcam, and I think I plan to use it for future videos I'm making.
Your back. Yeah.
Fun fact: if you set your camera to auto, you can control the focus manually in dragonframe!
the trouble with auto is the aperture when it closes can change minutely every time you take a photo. Which can cause flicker when you play the animation. If you haven't experienced it lucky you i guess...
Hi, I would love to see another video from you talking specifically about the camera equipment setup for stop motion ? My impression was that with a Canon camera you needed to use a manual Nikon lens with a Canon body w adapter so you can shoot with Dragonframe and not get light flicker or different camera exposure that have to be corrected. I have a Canon 40D w a Canon lens 17-85mm lens which has AF-MF switch and Stabilizer on/off as well, can I use this lens with Dragonframe and have no problems ?? Love your video and you make it seem so easy !
yeah, having a lens from a separate manufacturer with an adapter is a great way to eliminate the exposure flicker. But I don't do that, I just bought an after effects plugin called FlickerFree that takes the flicker out. That way, if I ever change cameras, I wouldn't need to buy new adapters, the plugin will work on anything.
I’m buying the macro lenses! i’ve been searching a good one for a while and now i can help one of my favorite animators. Also do you have a link to the LED light kit that fits in LEGO minifigures?
www.brickstuff.com/ I got em here
@@BrotherhoodWorkshop Thank you!
Cannot wait! Is it coming soon?
Great gear list for stop motion! Also, don't forget to buy some extra camera batteries
Or even better, a power supply so you don't need batteries!
@@BrotherhoodWorkshop Oh! Thanks. I didn't know that. Will definitely grab one so I don't have to burn out on my batteries. Cheer,
Are you going to make a part two? this video says part 1 but what about part 2? Just curious.😁
We need a video of your Rohan and orc armies
Good
Trop bien 😀😇🤣😂😅
How do you do your compositing? Just wondering because I don’t have many brick to make backgrounds so I think that might be helpful
Thanks for the awesome video! What did you mean when you said the camera should let you adjust the exposure? Did you mean it should let you adjust exposure manually through the digital interface/buttons like most modern cameras do? Or through an analog aperture ring like the old lenses/cameras did?
A lot of inexpensive cameras don't have manual settings, which means it's impossible to set the aperture to a consistent size. That's all :) It doesn't really matter how you set it, whether digitally or analog (I do it digitally), it just matters that you can.
@@BrotherhoodWorkshop I see. Reason I asked is because some modern "manual" setting cameras do a horrible job at maintaining the right aperture/shutter speed and close their shutter at inconsistent times (common with Nikon kit units) then cause flickers. That's why I prefer older models and lenses with manual aperture rings.
Thanks again!
@@COMMANDERFOX31 Yeah, my Nikon D40 did that a LOT. The T2I still has a little flicker when I have a wide depth of field, but this is easily fixed with a deflicker plugin. But the manual aperture rings are probably the best solution of all.
The best supports for LEGO sets are boxes of other LEGO sets
That dino box is sturdy!
You can edit out your hand in the recorded scenes correct? Also, does the camera keep recording /taking snaps till you click stop?
While you're animating, how do you simultaneously view your shot list? Do you have to constantly toggle back and fourth between Dragonframe and the shot list? (Trying to improve my set up as I usually just use split windows with one being Dragonframe and the other being Google Docs on a singular screen)
I usually only have to look at the shot list when moving on to a new shot, so I usually keep the shot list or storyboards minimized and pull it up every now and then
You sound like a monologue from, "American Psycho" but this was very informative and thank you :) Thumbs up!
