daveduznotrull Nah. Tessa's 70s singer-songwriter Laurel Canyon confessional thing wouldn't work on the charts. Today's charts represent more of what was happening in the early 60s and most of the 80s where the music was about having a "good time". We need another once in a lifetime artist that is able to bridge all genres and audiences. Beyonce is to divisive because of her politics, Lady Gaga is too weird in a good way. Still waiting for Taylor to become her influences, and be the voice of a generation she was meant to be. Since I think she is the only one with the popularity and skills to do it. Once that happens I think then maybe Tessa will have a chance then. Not because they are both female, but generally they are both freakishly talented butt kicking musicians who speak to the same and different audiences at the same time.
Jason Cromwell its a new world, anything can happen. Shes been on the forefront of modern social media from the beginning, and shes only been getting better at what she does.

Agreed with both of your points. Just recently discovered the 1975 really loving their album. My point is she still isn't talked about in the same league as the big guns, but with her cult following thanks to UA-cam she is getting there. Mainstream still doesn't take UA-camrs all that seriously sadly. I believe one day both Tessa and Dodie because of their talent will make it to the Taylor, Lady Gaga and Beyonce level of fame and respect.

i think this encapsulates the struggle many young adults (including me) go through... the social anxiety, the questioning if it's worth putting in effort, the balance of healthy alone time and building enriching friendships... oh, and the wanting to be known! we often go through times where not many/none of our friends really know us truly well- either because they're new, or we struggle with opening up.... we're private, and often "just fine with being alone"

Ugh, this song is so relatable, especially for those with social anxiety. On one half I wish I could be someone likeable and have friends, but on the other I just want to keep to myself...I don't want to talk to anyone. It almost hurts meeting people I don't know and being anything more than a shut in aside from with closest family. Most of the time I think I enjoy keeping to myself, and "not putting in the effort". But then deep inside I really long for relationships, and to "be known". I wish I could tell myself to just STOP caring, but I can't stop caring so much about what people think. I'm so incredible self-conscious, anxious, awkward, and it's just the worst...

Every time I hear the line "Repeating myself I keep on yesterday" it literally leaves me breathless. I don't know why I find it so powerful but something about the way it's paced just really hits home for me
