  • Hi Creators,
    Now that we know how to create new mesh with Booleans, let's learn how to quickly clean up the mesh. The issue with Booleans is that they have a tendency to give you really bad mesh, including lots of ngons and tris. In this video tutorial, we are going to use two tools to recreate our mesh into usable quads!
    Let's get started!
    Note: If you want to keep your hard edges, you can go to the Retopologize options and check "Preserve hard edges". It will try to preserve the hard edges of your mesh. :)
    Software Used: Maya 2023

    Started in blender a month or so before the start of the pandemic. I don’t have a lot of experience in Maya, except for two or so small projects, but am wanting to start learning more of it and eventually switch. So happy to have found this channel!

    Hi! Very helpful video. I'm just curious: Would using the grease pencil also help reduce the poly count if you needed to go that route?

    “I found Blender to be generally less effective. Although I tested it alongside Maya, I found that Maya’s algorithms perform better. Even when using the Quadremesh plugin in Blender, the results were disappointing. Despite Autodesk’s increasing complexity, I don’t regret returning to Maya after a long hiatus. Unfortunately, Blender isn’t widely adopted in the industry, so using it doesn’t lead to as many job opportunities. Thank you for the video! Have you experimented with retopology hardsurface modeling?”

    Hey there Monica, have you thought about including Mudbox in your workflow?

    • @AcademicPhoenixPlus
      @AcademicPhoenixPlus  Рік тому +2

      I'm not a fan of Mudbox. I usually texture with Substance Painter or sculpt with ZBrush.

      you can choose edges that you want to be kept and make them hard. then when reapologizing check keep hard edges. she didn't really go into any kind of depth with this tutorial unfortunately.
