Audioholics is stating that the motor system is upgraded for the 805 as well! BUT i contacted B&W today and they told me that is not the case! Quote" I was not able to find any reference to upgraded motors but the 805 D4 Signature speakers do feature and upgraded crossover." End quote! For those that this may matter !

I can't believe how much the tweeter 'cone/cabinet' was moving when he was tapping on it.

Reengineered in only 1,5years since the new D4 came out...

Could also be that improvements that didn't make the D4's where put into the sigs.

This is a strange situation for existing 801 D4 owners. The company just straight admitting there are cabinet resonances in midrange and bass detail is lacking on a 38k speaker.
See Steve Guttenberg's review of the 801 vs the 802.

Can someone please explain this to me... and please note, this is a genuine honest question: Why would you spend a considerable amount on speaker wire when the internals of the speaker (from terminals to crossover and then to the drivers) are all using standard looking wiring? Why don't these manufacturers also use high grade wiring on their crossover parts?

There isn't; it's all snake oil.

High Grade wiring is mostly marketing talk, in fact in college I remember, we had experiments showing thicker wire is needed to connect woofer to amp, but tweeter actually plays better with a skinnier wire... there were some mathematics to explain why it is so - which I confess I did not understand then, but remember the day clearly. I have seen companies selling 50,000 dollar per pair speakers but saving 5 dollars on a resistor or capacitor... ways of business is strange... I am sure you have heard about Planned Obsolescence and such great practices.

Be a cold day in hell before I spend 38 grand on a set of home theater speakers. You’ve bumped your head and should get a cat scan!
