Do you still have the 3d build plan and would be so kind to share them with us?😅 Would love to try it my self. Nice work, looking just like original 👍👌
I'm sure it was very clear that they were not for production or sale. That said it would be interesting to see what B&W thought of what kind of job you did.
Always loved the Bowers & Wilkins 800 series. The design the structure everything. However if I made a copy I'd probably change everything about the drivers and crossover. I've had a bookshelf scanspeak diy set for a while now. It sounds amazing and I'd put the quality up there with B&W's 800 series even though it's a bookshelf. They are amazing speakers that I'd love to build into something this size. What's funny is Sony did create a scanspeak loudspeaker the SS-AR1 (27k). That's sort of the components I'd use. Your design and attention to detail are amazing. Bar none on your reproduction of these speakers. Great work.
@@royk007 I wouldn't be able to create those sorts of plans. When I built a set before I cheated and purchased everything from madisound. They created the specs for the crossover and gave me the idea for the box size when I purchased it from them. They have a few kits which give you every spec as well even some with built crossovers. The kit I have been eyeing forever is the Scan-Speak B741 Speaker Kit. At $3600 before adding in the box I don't think I'll be building it anytime soon ;)
Some time ago we made DIY horns! they were really impressive! but in the end the sound was..... it is better to say there was no sound! their look was better) so guys, you happy with that you finaly MADE IT, but what about the sound. Or no matter? this is best of the best of the best!
You did amazig job! Congratulations! One year ago my friend both 800 D2. After I heard the speaker I decided to go for diy 800 d2. Now I have all the original brand new drivers (tweeter in original housing) and WBT top line terminals. I think I need one year to have enought money for the cabinets, chross owers (in ewery part same as the original) and the cabeling (VDH CS 12). Please let me know where are you from, because Id like to ask you to make me the marlan head copy. Once again thanks for the motivation video. Best regards DIY fan.
5:07 You measured the coils but then you seem to have used magnetic screws? They look like normal steel with yellow zinc coating. That changes the inductance. Where did you get the drivers? Are they original B&W?
There are some really skilled people around. Quite a few people in China have copied this design. I have heard the mistrial sag-350 and although not as good as B&W, they sound very good. All the "copies" on sale are at "too good to be true prices" so don't pose a threat to B&W really. The copies are obvious but buyer beware. I an an ex B&W dealer and I can tell you the B&Ws are the real deal.
@@ThPappas But if you buy a bluray and make a backup it is okay, but if you copy your friends bluray it is a breach of copyright. It is the same here. Doesn’t need to a precise copy either. A substantiative copy is sufficient.
You took pictures of your monitor? You couldn't just save the rendered image and use that? Excellent work, well done. I was particularly impressed with the molded casts. But a few questions, why did it take you 2 years? And where did you find the internal structure of the speaker to copy? Did you have an existing 800 series to take apart? Or is there a blueprint somewhere online?
Looks like he bought the original B&W carbon drivers, kevlar midrange and diamond tweeters to complete the job. Thats not going to work out cheap. There is still a fair bit of science to recreate the same midrange and high frequencies which I think is best left to B&W than clone reproductions.
After going to all this trouble you could have upgraded these to be far better than the originals. The owner himself said he uses an unimpressive cheap crossover system in these speakers. He says it makes them sound better lol,i say no he is a cheap ass. With all that trouble you could have used seas drivers for the mids and bass, and kept the tweeter and had a much better pair. Im guessing that wasnt your goal.
So you guys went thru all the trouble of copying and making a Boot leg set of B & W speakers. Although they may look like them , they are still fake copies ! And to put 800 DBiamond on them is a bit too much. Hopefully you won't get sued by B&W for the forgery. As far as the work , they look fantastic.
I will echo so many others... as a work of art they are super impressive. I particularly like the olive veneer. But why go so far as to copy the design and the name?? DIY projects are admirable but clearly have no resale value. Using the manufacturers name is setting yourself up for all kinds of trouble. You have moved from impressive DIY to fraudulent fake. I use DIY speakers that are loosely based on a manufacturer who publishes their design and invites home builds. I also changed the design to make my version of improvements. Why did you not play some music and comment on the sound? Do you assume we believe they sound like the original. I seriously doubt it.
You guys deserve a medal for this. Incredible job!
But how did they acquire the original drivers and the X/overs’ blueprints?

Beautiful craftsmanship and dedication.
1 thing 2 say 3 words 4 you. That is astonishing!!
Ive always been impressed by B&Ws engineering!

Still wondering m8🤙
Never stopped wondering btw..^^
Superb result. Well done.
with hard work, man can do everything.looks a nice cover of the BW´S.
Beautiful work
Good day love your work and the design. Would you consider sending me the PDF or Cad file of the plans. you did a great job.
Wow, just wow... even more beautiful than the original.
I'm sure it was very clear that they were not for production or sale. That said it would be interesting to see what B&W thought of what kind of job you did.
Great job! Do you share the CAD-Files? Would love to rebuild them, too.

Any plans or units from that Sandy would love to see them ;)

Just a EPIC job, Fantastic!
Beautiful job. But why did you put on the name Bowers & Wilkins?
Because they are.
Drivers etc are b&w. Only the Wood is Hand Made in original mm
@@Cupra317hp the casting too
@@twoeggcups its fantastic 😆
VERY impressive work.
Impressive hiper ultra mega super great JOB!!!
WOW! Extremely impressive. How many hours of work + material costs, roughly? At $30,000/pair, it may yet be possible to break even...
Looks great
Nice! Good looking and well done:)😀😀😀

Good job. I wish I could make them myself
Is there any way to get (download) the vector files you used to make the cuts? thx!
ok one word
WOW
How much these babies weight? Very nice video!
Hi @david944s, great effort and result! It would be nice if you could comment on the sound. Also I was wondering how much was spent on material?
Gorgeous manufacturing congrats
do you still have the cad model?
regards
nice work. can you please give me the measurements?
More pictures build please
Lots of work!
Did you use b&w drive units ?
Amazing, well done, where do i get the blue print plans for these babies?
hi, do you have the plans for the enclosure? what for drivers are installed?
And it sounds like a Master-G
Hey! Don't ask so much, it's a knock of B&W
😂
Bravo. Beautiful work. Did they offer you a job yet or have they tried to sue? I say they should get you on the payroll
Well done, amazing.
Magnifique !
WoW~~~Unbilieve~ Amazing~
Hey man im about to be doing the same thing as you. Any chance id be able to talk to you about some questions and stuff
Nice work
Nice.... fantastic.... TnX.
Unbelievable👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, nice speakers
I really enjoyed the video! Nice job! I wondered if you could tell me what is the software that you were using for your speaker diagrams?
Inspirational 👀

Where did you buy the actual speakers for the cases?

So the backing sound track and the speakers themselves are all breach of copyright ??
Breach of copyright to build something for yourself? If you don’t sell it for money, then there is not breaching...

Impressive work, costs and looks, but isn't the sound worth showing?
Hi, is it possible to send me the CAD files for this wonderful project?
Master Piece
Really great work. What was the total cost if I may ask?
I meant the cost to make them
As much as the be 800
5:04 do not guide any screws through the coils !! Induction!!! amateur,,may melt at higher loads
I think you're exaggerating, it doesn't have that effect
nice try n how is the quality ?
what brand use drivers. pls share link
There's a blemish on one of the cabinets... But the music is okay...
Hello or they are maybe on the web dimensions and templates?
Skill!
is possibile to buy?
er...sorry for asking the obvious...but what do they sound like? good or crap.
NICE !

Realy great job ! But why Put B&W on the non B&W speakers? that is counterfeit !
Nice workmanship, but I wouldn’t put Bowers Wilkins on it, it’s not a B&W 800, it’s a knock off, I’d be putting my own name on it
It took 2 years to plagiarise these speakers. You really should have spent that time and effort making your own designs.
nice knock offs....

ohohohohoh fack!!!
Also write, that they play no worse than these fakes ...
don't understand the art of makeing copys of something
Yeah, it's like those civil war re-enactors. They try to get every detail right. Why don't they just go have their own war?
How do you feel about making copies though?
$35k a pair for the originals possibly?
fododude exactly. Great work, but pointless.
these ones cheaper not guaranting that they sound exact like originals or near
Your title says " HOMEMADE"... just CURIOUS. How many of you guys out there have 3D milling machines, in your home? Nice work...but NOT homemade.
why? Just get fucking real ones.
