    With an Arden 8 port cylinder head, no wonder it flies!
    Stunning part of Wales and breathtaking views from the top.
    Respect to that drive with the sea wall so close.

    Well that was a flash back reminded for me of my late friend and mentor Barrie Whizzo Williams when he won the Welsh Rally ,a few yrs later back in 1969 he was over almost every night of week helping build my first racing mini I was 16 / 17 then , a few years later we had Willie Dick take a 970 S engine make it down to 850 with twin split webers high lift cam and so much the engine cost then 1000 pounds . If Barrie could not make it over to help his Father Tony would come amazing family . My they both RIP .

    I am very fortunate to live just a few minutes drive up the road from this very special stage/route. Although to me it's more known as part of me & my girlfriend's 'getting together/courting'. As while getting to know one another we walked 'backwards'-(the opposite way to this cars route) around the Orme. The views from the 'Millionaire's row'-(West End coast of Llandudno) side of the Orme are truly spectacular..:)) It's well worth a visit IMO.

    If you ever go to llandudno. You have got to drive the Great Orme. You can drive all the way to the top. Theres also 60s coach trip which goes all the way around the bottom. The video is awesome reminds me of the Italian job 👍😜

    Great 'on board' BTW..:)) I remember 1000's of us in Llandudno waiting for the WRC back in either 2017 or 2018-(Ogier was @ M-Sport Ford) to enter Llandudno Town centre after driving 'backwards' around this stage back when we had a WRC UK event here. Sadly the event was shortened drastically, part due to the/a rather odd reason, that the Sea was a little rough, meaning it was too dangerous for divers to be deployed, if-(in the very unfortunate circumstance) a WRC car crashed and went off the cliff into the Sea. I also remember there being an incident where a young child in a motorbike display team had an accident 'on the Prom', also meaning the event was delayed by quite some time-(a helicopter being deployed), meaning there would simply not be enough time 'in the remaining part of the day' to send 'all cars/participants' around the Great Orme stage. Thus just the 'Top 10' cars ran. I'd love to drive it competitively one day..:))

    I had a 1275GT on a 'W' plate that I loved, it had to be rebuilt so was running at around 1310cc. Great plate on it too - WMA 123 W

    Why do people position the camera such that the bloody rear view mirror blocks where you want to see the view ahead? Rally cars don't even use the damn mirror 99.99% of the time. I grew up clambering all over the Great Orme. One of the best places in Britain. Later I owned a 1964 1071 S but never got to take around North Wales, mores the pity. Fantastic car.

      Unfortunately there is not a great deal of space in a Mini, and therefore camera positions are very limited. That being said, I have removed my rearview mirror in my more recent uploads.

    This video was awesome, may I ask, how many hp does this mini have and what engine

    • @rallyking13
      @rallyking13  Рік тому +7

      The horse power at the time was probably about 115-120hp. It was a 1340cc with a 649 profile camshaft. It has an Arden 8 port (cross flow) cylinder head. It has since been discovered though that the valve springs that were fitted at the time were weak, and not allow the engine to rev as high as it should have. This issue has since been resolved and there are some videos on my dad’s channel (Clive King Rallying).

    Wow, what a great drive, if you went over the edge there you would be in a world of hurt! My godmother lived on the Orme in a house named Swn Y Mor (might not be 100% correct), means sound of the sea so I was told.

      Sŵn y Môr to be pedantic 😂😂 but spot on with the translation. Famous also for being the location of the largest Bronze age copper mine in Europe back in its heyday.
