You can count on P.. to be a champion for Wars of Light and Shadow!! Most underrated series in my mind, too. It belongs up there with the greats. Also some Second Apocalypse love 🖤 niiice. Two of my favorite series of all-time! Dandelion Dynasty I haven't read, yet, but am really excited for!
I knew this was gonna be a good time and you all did not disappoint 🤣👏 Cackling over here, Allen and Jimmy just have such good chemistry together on screen. We deserve that dedicated podcast, lol. Also, HECK YES for the Gentleman Bastards love, I want to reread that series so badly!! Thanks for the fun time 🥰
They truly do...I knew we had to pair them together 😂 I know I would tune into that podcast! 👀 OMG yes I need to hear your thoughts on it. Like immediately :)
This was a really fun conversation! Underappreciated and not talked about series is The Great God's War trilogy by Stephen Donaldson. Really well put together, tightly plotted series with great characters and unique magic, and he really sticks the landing.
@@MaedBetweenthePages That is a really tough question! I like new stuff and no one ever talks about GGW so I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, but the Covenant series is one of my favorites of all time, soooo....hmm. Depends on what your in the mood for. Covenant is portal fantasy and deconstructionist in nature. GGW is its own world and plays more in the typical fantasy sandbox. Covenant series is much longer as well, I think the 2nd trilogy is the best of them. GGW is a self contained trilogy. Hope that helps you decide :)
@@thefantasythinker I think he might have been one of the first fantasy anti-heroes that I read, at first glance, just an unpleasant character to be around. Probably why he's so fascinating to read about.
@@Paul_van_Doleweerd Very true! Donaldson tears apart the typical hero stereotype and brings up so many questions about why we view our heroes the way we do.
The problem with the book-haul is that it's usually preceded by the un-haul, to me that's just rampant consumerism and it means to me at least that you are buying a ton of crappy books not worth keeping.
@@MaedBetweenthePages There's a lot of fear of missing out and having to be relevant by reading the newest books out there. Nobody reads like this. Nobody reads book one of ten series and doesn't go back (unless they are terrible I guess) I enjoy seeing younger folks reading the old stuff because I can watch those videos and think, yeah you have so much catching up to do 😁
Sorry if this is a weird question Taylor. but I saw that you were a fan of Dessa and i cant help but see physical resemblence too now, are u somehow related to her by qny chance ???
@@MaedBetweenthePages of course! She is one of my favorite rap artists, Chime being my favorite project of hers. I Hope I'm Wrong is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard
This was Epic dammit just friggen epic love this shitk damn awesome stuff!!!
Thanks so much for this. I had a great time!
Of course! The honor is mine...you're welcome back anytime :)
Thanks so much for coming Jimmy and Allen! It was amazing! We had a blast!
I second this! 👆
I was laughing after barely 3 min, i love Allen so much 😂
Always a delight, truly 😂
Hey Allen, did you know KJ Parker is a pseudomym for Tom Holt?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also halfway through The Folding Knife, it's excellant so far.
I'm not sure if he's aware 😂
Happy to see Allen finally found a cap that doesn't bother him
I didn't know he has issues with caps in the past 😂

I will check that out! I bounced off Thomas Covenant but want to try more from Donaldson
Thomas Covenant is on my "classic fantasy* TBR, but do you think I should pick up The Great God's War instead by him?
And thank you for tuning in! :)

I agree 100% that it's that pattern particularly that seems problematic...
