  • Back home for a few weeks, the three big boxes I shipped from Bremen eventually arrived in Spain over Christmas but didn't have time to set it up before heading back to Germany. Back home again for a few weeks so I spent Friday afternoon finishing off a drop-in bridge, clearing off the lower deck of the accumulated junk and squeezing the G scale layout onto N-scale benchwork. Amazingly the RailModeller Pro track plan I drew out fits as designed. Did a few laps with the analogue Stainz and have started messing around with the LGB 70257 Digital system. Bit of a learning curve but Impressed with the system given its age. Thanks for watching!

Looks good we needed proof you made it back and she didn’t beat you too hard

In one piece, no handbag bashing and no bribery required either. On second thoughts it could mean she has a counter strike planned when I least expect it. Like a ninja quiet Amazon jungle puma taking out an unsuspecting collared peccarie with a swipe of the paw and its vertebrae snapped with a single bite to the neck. At least it’ll be quick…

@@rhopkin2512 that’s why we need video updates proof you’re alive. Nothing wrong with slowly convincing the mrs that trains are vital. Make sure she knows the eBay login for when we’re dead because chances are the new boyfriend is not into trains lol

Next question I have. Are you going to be doing a German prototype (not American) this time?

    • @rhopkin2512

It will be all German narrow gauge based (which I can get away with given the small space in G-scale terms) but hardly “prototypical”, certainly not one for the rivet counters :-)

@@rhopkin2512 hey I have marbles in gondolas and slightly larger 50 cent rubber animals on my layout but it’s ok. So what’s the biggest steam that radius can run? I always love DB cause I rode it so much

@@N_scale LGB is a bit like Lionel, you can run silly size locomotives on the smallest radius (300mm) which is what I have but for now, baring any radical changes or taking the layout outside, I’m sticking with the small ones I have. They’re cheaper to buy, easier to store and make me smile just as much. I’m now going to concentrate on obtaining the tons of bits and pieces of details you need to make a G scale layout, it’s big enough you actually need people in your passenger trains. If you get a few minutes, check out www.museumseisenbahn.de/index.php/en/ it’s like LGB created all their German narrow gauge locomotives from this museum.

@@rhopkin2512 note of caution why I’m asking. Before you adhere your track night want to pickup your (Arnold 2277 0-8-8-0) in LGB to test out !
That Arnold number is the one German loco I will own someday. Preferably in yellow and slap a UP shield on there !

@@N_scale yes, there’s a few G scale mallet’s that are really fabulous but my layout, wallet and ambitions aren’t big enough for the track and coaches to go with it. Sometimes less is more 😉
