a good way to describe "strange" looking is actually "unconventional beauty" it's a popular English expression. it means that they're beautiful but their beauty is not within society's standards
i think im decent looking? but the camera makes me look gross even though I KNOW i dont look like that irl. edit: to anyone who will say nO tHe wAy yOu lOoK oN cAmeRa iS tHe rEaL yOu stfu and know that phone cameras heavily distort faces. im more curious on why some people look worse in photos than they do irl, and why others look good in both photos and irl even though its roughly the same amount of distortion
Sometimes a good photographer can make a lot of a difference on how you look in photos. My dad for example is a shit photographer and I hate most of the photos he takes of me, sometimes he gets lucky and I get a decent photo from him but for the most part I hate them. My friend on the other hand is no professional but she is better than my dad and I always look way better on her photos. So I think you could still give it a try if you really want to, maybe a good photographer with experience with models can help you out with that and give you pointers on how professionals normally pose or on the faces or angles that look best on camera.
I relate to this soo much, I be looking lopsided when other people take photos of me. It's so bad that I refuse to even see the photo for myself but when I look in the mirror I actually look pretty and do get told it often enough. I guess some of us dont photograph well possibly to do with the symmetry in our face as most of the time the camera flips the image to the opposite side. I do think you can be attractive but still have poor symmetry though and there are deffo models out thier who aren't 'perfect' symmetrical.
I agree that you should definitely try working with a good professional photographer first. The one who's taking model tests. When I work with new faces I always help them with posing, mindset and everything. It really matters! So, by saying professional I'm not only talking about seeing the good pictures in someone's portfolio - talk to that person, find out if you'll feel comfortable with them etc. You will realize it even after the first conversation. + posing practise and feeling relaxed is a huge deal. I have many videos about posing on my channel, here's the playlist ua-cam.com/play/PL2n0G6Jp9TLa1VivqPHmSyu6qzzQpTnOe.html There aren't "non photogenic" people, believe me! I've worked with so so many models and private clients, so I know it for sure :)
@@TatianaKurnosova :00 thank you for the tips!! ive been starting to become less camera shy because like a lot of people pointed out i always look bad whenever someone takes pictures of me even though im fairly certain i dont look like those pictures irl. the only problem is finding a good photographer that meets all the criteria that u listed lmao. thank you for responding!! i really appreciate it :D
pey's art channel never said that was negative.. just pointing out that I look like him on a bad hair day. So I am implying that I look like him. But also saying that I have much worse hair than him. If that makes sense. Also I’m sorry that I don’t have perfect grammar. I’m human
I used to think having a baby face was a negative thing because people might see you as younger and more naive. but now I realize that type of face has advantages because not only are those models adorable, but they're also pretty too. and not every pretty model can also be cute :)
I got scouted twice 4 years ago, I'm too insecure and shy so I didn't go through with it. They said I look ambiguous. I'm 5'9 native American, tan skin, long dark brown hair, strong jaw/cheeks/nose, but I have green hazel eyes (which is what made me stand out I guess). I wish I would've gone through with it, now I've gained too much weight 😭lol
And by strong jaw I mean squarish jaw. My nose isn't huge but its prominent but fits my face. And ambiguous meaning my ethnicity looks uncertain meaning I can pass/ portray other ethnicities which is part of what they look for.
Oh, I can imagine how beautifully and unique you look! So sad that you were afraid to start modeling back then, but you can still try it right now. The industry has been changing and it became more open to diversity and different sizes, especially if you're from US. So, if you're curious how it would go for you, whether if it would work out or not, please just try it, so you won't regret that you haven't... You can even start it as a hobby and then see if it's something that you enjoy or not. Anyways, I hope you'll do whatever feels right / best for you at the moment. Sending love and positive vibes :)
Yep, but honestly though fashion companies and agencies seems to want the convenience and spend less money on fabric for the clothes for the model to wear since models are meant to be just living hangers as degrading as it sound they are treated just like that :/. Which is why models are so thin in the first place honestly
Most of the clients want the "average" plus size models but it depends on the brand, fashion market and many other aspects. They mostly want to see the plus size models taller than 175 cm. Being shorter than that makes everything too challenging even though they try to promote diversity and etc.
also considering that there is an industry for very skinny people who fit the sample sizes in runway shows, and then for plus sized people who are a lot larger (granted, not even that big as you said), but the whole in-between scale of that is left out. idk what the sizes are in the us but someone said 6-8-10 maybe, those have no representation. i have no idea how the clothes will look on me when the skinny models are the ones modeling them. but then plus size isnt for me either. so many reasons to have the industry be more inclusive..
Yeah they actually often need to take clothes in or pin them tighter to make them fit their 'plus size' models who are more like size L or even M (while the real definition of plus size is XL and counting).
@@cadaver6665 wouldnt reach as far to say that they claim M sized models to be plus size. im M size and never seen a plus sized model the same size as me. thats one of the inbetween sizes that doesnt get modelled at all usually
there is quit a lot of racial diversity in modeling, but unfortunately body type diversity is very hard to achieve because models are just used to display the clothes.
@@jesin0005 exactly. in modeling, it’s about the marketing of the clothes. it’s about the clothes, the model is just a clothes hanger. they need the model to fit the clothes, they can’t change all the clothes to fit the models.
Deavon Aoki is mentioned in this video and she isn't tall. I searched it on Google and she is 165cm. Edit: There are even shorter models for petite clothing brands. And you have Lily Rose Depp who is a model too. She is like 160 cm and models for Chanel. But her case is probably because she was already known and has famous parents. For being short, you have more chance to have gigs in Asia than somewhere in Europe. I know that short people that want to model tend to go somewhere there. But that's all commercial.
Really love and agree with your educational video, Tatiana about the different types of models. It's so true about how models can fit into more than one category and then some only fit into one category. When I was a model in the 80's and 90's, I fit into, baby face, classic and commercial. I could look much older or much younger depending on how they styled me, sometimes my face looked really strong and sometimes it could look soft. I was such a chameleon, I think that's why I had such a wide variety of jobs from Paris Haute Couture shows, to working in Tokyo and even catalogue jobs because they could make me look very blank canvas with the way they did my hair and makeup.
Your profile picture looks really beautiful! Maybe you need to just try working with professional photographer? The one that will help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera and will be good at "finding angles"... Anyways, there are no "not photogenic" people, believe me :) Some just need a little bit more time to bloom.
I used to model when I was VERY young and I recently got asked to model for Shein as a teen model! This channel really helped me get back into that ''model mode.'' There isn't much to say but I just wanted to put that out there!
Thank you so much for the kind words, I appreciate it!❤ Happy to hear that you found some helpful info here. Sending hugs and wishing you all the best ~
Tatiana, you put out the best content. It's perfect and straightforward. I read your book "All You Need to Know About Model Test Shoots" as well, and loved it. I'm still new and learning, but I'm learning so much from you! Thank you 😊.
Oh, thank you so much! You're so kind. I'm really happy that you liked my book and the videos. By the way, new book is coming up really soon too. Again thank you so much for support and have a wonderful day!
Yes, they always were quite popular. I think the brigtest example is Natalia Vodyanova (if talking about established models who have started earlier in 90s). And now there are many many gorgeous models with baby faces. They are especially popular in Asian fashion markets :)
@@TatianaKurnosova Thank you for replying! I've always dreamed in secret about being a model. But I'm wary of criticism, even though I know it's unavoidable. Do you think being found on Instagram is a thing? How can I increase my chances? Thank you so much!!!!! (@nmjr547)

Honestly the best chanel on this topic ! I was model myself and wish someone explained me all this at the beginning! Keep the great work! Greetings from Berlin.
People's faces aren't symmetrical on 100%, we all have a bit different features. You know sometimes our imperfections make us perefect - same with modeling. The main point is that everything should be in balance. After this video I often got asked what it's like to have a model like face - like if there's an exact recipe of it... I've filmed one more video where I'm explaining it + what agencies expect to see. If you're itnerested, please fell free to watch it too. Here it is ua-cam.com/video/eXYXryDzAvA/v-deo.html
yeah, almost all of them have narrow noses (they nose fits between their eyes), most of them have bigger/captivating eyes and majority has plumper lips. Also - cheekbones
Posing isn't a problem, you can always learn it + practice and feeling comfortable is everything. There are no "not photogenic" people, believe me. Check out one of my playlists with posing tips and examples ua-cam.com/play/PL2n0G6Jp9TLa1VivqPHmSyu6qzzQpTnOe.html And remember that you are beautiful no matter what! We are too judgemental to ourselves and sometimes don't see our unique beauty...
I’m constantly torn between “I’m beautiful” and “I’m not enough pretty for that”. I mean, I’m thin and my body would probably be acceptable, but I’m 5’4” so I don’t even know why I’m watching this. Btw, good video💖Maybe one day I’ll have to courage to try🥺
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm sure you look gorgeous! Don't ever doubt yourself ❤️ And I've recently started "petite modeling" series where I'm sharing the infromation on how to become a model if you're not tall. The first video from this series is already here ua-cam.com/video/iOu9ygTR5aQ/v-deo.html So, please check it out (I'm comparing regular and petite modeling, so you could understand the basics). In the next one I will explain the details on how exactly you can still work as a model even if you don't fit into the industry standards.
Big foreheads were very desirable at one point in human history, I think it was the Renaissance era? But anyway big foreheads are so desired that some women would shave their head a little like give themselves a receding hairline on purpose since it was desirable at the time. Either way no matter the trends you are beautiful in your own special way and as modeling doesn’t necessarily need to have conventionally beautiful features who knows? Maybe a girl with a big forehead can be casted and get really popular
@@name-wo2xg don’t listen to whoever is telling you those things. You’re 💗BEAUTIFUL💗 just the way you are. And fuck society for telling us that it matters where our hairline starts?! From anotha big forehead sista~
This was a very well and thought out informational video! I have always been fascinated with modeling and this has provided good insight! Everything is well shot!
I am 5'7 tall, I have a fair skin, my body type is nice. However, the thing for me is my face is round, I have wide set eyes (but thankfully, my eyes shape is pretty-fox-like. And my nose's bridge is prominent) and also my cheeks are round and very puff. I felt insecurity about that before, but when someone at the mall told me that “You look like a model” I gained a lot of confidence ☺️. Be confident also guys, coz you're also unique and unique is beautiful.
These women are an illusion of good lighting or photoshop. Wipe away the make up & most these women are just normal. They may have good bone structure that allows the (makeup) ARTIST to contort, into what the fashion industry defines as beauty & then make us normal folk feel insecure. They are blank canvases thats all, if they were all what they perceived no one would tinker with their photo’s.
when it coming to photoshoots or taking pictures in general, it's mostly just the camera works and the lighting crew/natural light that makes everything beautiful. You can look "ugly" or "pretty", big and small, short and tall, have skin discoloration or body deformities, but still slay a photoshoot if you have a very good camera man and camera quality. The face structure and "ideal body" are honestly just added points. (but unfortunately there is "a standard beauty" in modelling which we all know cause major eating disorders and pressure to get plastic surgery. Most of the models (except real supermodels) don't even try hard to pose all they do are the basic set of posing which most probably everyone knows and do on their Instagram lol.
my aunt is a very successful model, she has walked the runway on tv, etc. and we have very similar features, so im hoping she can help me out with my modeling journey 😊
I was working at McDonalds when a customer drove by and said “you could be a model if you were tall”. Customers often told me I shouldn’t work there. It was very interesting to hear them say “you don’t belong here, you are too pretty for this job”. Yet, I started working there because no other job would hire me
You don't have to be tall to be a model. There's many categories of models. You might not be hired for runway and high fashion, but you can do beauty and advertising
Everytime me and my daughter going out people complimented her that shes so pretty shes only 3 yrs old i think im gonna encourage her to do modelling someday❤❤
Hi again Tatiana. Very good video. Yeah, same thing with Theatre Photography (Actor's Portrait) where photographers snapped pictures of Actors expression, giving them a good portfolio. ^^
Damn. I would think by 2020 these modeling agencies would move towards a more diverse set of beauty but it’s still the same tall skinny and mostly all the time Caucasian looking. :/
Not to be rude... but all this video proves is that modeling is more about the body type than the face. Modeling agencies look for tall, skinny, toned women... period. If you are just lucky enough to be that body type AND have a beautiful face then you will be VERY successful. Some of the women shown here do not have conventionally pretty faces and if they had those faces on an average woman who does NOT have a models body, they would never get noticed the way they do with their model bodies. And on the other side of the coin, if you are gorgeous and 5'2 well forget it, you will be over looked.
Happy to see you back, As always great work Tatiana, I really appreciate the hardwork you putting in these videos , the video in very specific and informative which I loved, I would love to see more modelling related videos if possible, All the best 👍 Love you ❤️🇮🇳
Thank you so much! You're so kind :) To be honest I'm not a fan of editing and try to keep it to the minimum... Who knows, maybe I'll create some tutorials in the future although I think there are so many great videos about editing already.
I am 33 years old, and my "childish" face makes me look in my early 20's definitly it is an advantage to have it, I barely use make up, and have a pretty hair as well naturally, which dont have to use anything. I realized that models also dont need to wear lots of make up in order to look oustanding. 😊
Hi Eri, you're definitely lucky :) And natural beauty is the best for sure. And one more reason why most of the models don't like using makeup on everyday basis is just because they often have to wear a lot of make-up for work. No one wants to constantly wear full make-up without giving your skin a break from it and let it breath / restore etc...
💔 i've been inclined to modeling and fashion since i was 10, even auditioned for runway at 12... i really don't want to seem prideful but i've received a ton of compliments on my looks and personality thru the years too. now i'm interested again but hopeless because i'm turning 16 soon with 5'1 height. gotta accept it lmao 💔
Hello Hani, I know it must be upsetting that you're not really tall right now, but you can still manage it and try modeling as a petite model. Of course it's not the same as regular modeling, but since the industry has been changing for the past several years, there are more opportunities for everyone right now. @@so-ke6yj hi! thanks. i’m doing much better now. ♥️ i got signed to a model/commercial agency just a few months ago! still waiting for a project, but definitely grateful. 🤗
Thank you! Well, some models can look both commercial and classic / they can have several features, several categories… It’s absolutely normal and actually is really good! Because you can get booked for more jobs 👌🏻
@@TatianaKurnosova oh you’re so sweet thank you for your answer ! There are some times where I book so many jobs and the next month is almost zero it’s a hard unbalanced job.
I was told that I have that "interesting face that agencies are looking for", but it's not enough by itself...I was 16 and weighted 54kg at the time so they told me I'm too old and too fat....I hope that things are better in the industry now!
I'm so sorry that you had to go through this experience, people can be extremely rude sometimes and it shows them as non professionals because usually agencies don't say things like this... Being 16 is a good agen to start and it absolutely doesn't matter what's your weight as long as you fit into the industry standards (I've been talking about it in this video ua-cam.com/video/uYD5QD-iXeY/v-deo.html). And even if you don't fit, there are still many options and ways to start modeling. The industry is changing and you just need to find your niche, your clients... So, if you're really into it, please ignore those people and try again. Start freelancing maybe... I have lots of helpful videos about it on my channel. Wishing you all the best ❤️
@@TatianaKurnosova thank you for your encouragement! I've been actually diving into the depths of fashion industry because my wish is to change it from the inside out! Also, even though I've given up on professional modeling, I still love doing it so that's why I started my own youtube channel where I model my own clothes and I feel empowered by it! ❤
Ok, so here is my personal experience with being scouted.. Maybe it'd give someone some food for thought? Dunno.. So, I have been scouted in the past mostly because of my body I think.. I could walk a Victoria Secrets show just based on how I look daily- I really train that hard, I am lean and skinny because I eat very clean by nature (I cant eat gluten). Maybe it sounds like Im talking nonsense but I am totally honest about it (I guess I could share pics if anyone doubts) as I am about my "flaws".. I'm "only" 1,72 cm with classical "Renaissance angel" baby face which isn't "cool" or "modern". I use make up to change my look. Anyway, I was 28 when I got scouted in London and I think they were kinda turned off by my age lol They werent very nice about their disappointment either.. I love fashion (I study it in my free time) and would have loved being a runway model but now I just became 33 and I look mid 20s which is "old" in the industry.. That's the issue.. In my opinion, work ethic matters more but I dont feel like the modeling industry exactly subscribes to this value but to connections, certain face, age and other stuff that one cant control and arent real beauty.. Maybe I'm wrong but Im not sure if I'd let my daughter start a modelling career.. My grandmother didn't let my mother either and I can see why now.. On the other hand, becoming a top designer is a great aspiration in my opinion.
Hi Margarita, thank you so much for sharing your experience and the point of view on everything, I appreciate it and enjoyed reading it :) I absolutely agree that modeling isn't a perfect profession and being fashion designer is much more interesting (it's my personal opinion though and some other people may not agree with me). When you are a model, basically, you're just a "tool" for designers and any other clients to sell their products. And the model should look the way they want her to look, basically as a model you don't have a voice... You just do what you told to do. And although modeling industry has been changing recently and there's more diversity comparing to few years ago, there are many pros and many many cons (same as for the any other jobs) and it's definitely not for everyone. People just love romanticizing it. But despite that fact I think it's sad that your grandmother didn't let your mother pursue modeling, not because of what it is, just because I believe that person should decide what they want to do on their own without the pressure from their parents... I know for sure based on my experience. Wishing you best of luck in whatever you are doing at the moment :)
@@TatianaKurnosova Thank you very much for replying and sharing!! You phrased it way better than I did!! The main plus about runway modeling in my opinion is the fact that one gets to work with many top designers, be part of their vision and learn how to further develop imagination which can help a lot in life! That's why I was initially excited about being scouted. Ever since I was a child, Ive been studying the designers, fashion houses and truly trying to understand their vision. With some of them I started to truly resonate and be able to intuite what their next collection will be like (trends, possible themes). If my life as a teen was different maybe Id have looked for an agency myself but I was orphaned at a young age and malnourished so I had other things on my mind. My mother is 1,78 and my father was 1,84 but Im only 1,72 because of what I went through. As for my mother, she had a normal childhood and she has that angular face as well as the tall lean body we both share. However it takes a certain type of character to be willing to work with others and interpret *their* vision. I think thats what many forget.. Eg My mother was always quite a rebel and had her own strong opinions. She also considers fashion superficial. She knew she'd hate being told what to do and act "as a clothes hanger" (Im quoting her) so she didnt persist anyway. I've a whole different view of fashion and models. For me fashion and beauty is a part of my soul, Im obsessed with fabrics and art and I see models as those who perform/interpret a vision. Work-wise I'm now in project management and sustainability (recently finished a contract and looking for new company) so I even modelled for a friend 2 months ago!! I finally had my experience :D It was amazing! I love how perfectionistic my friend is about his work so I was starstruck through the entire process! However, thats when some of my opinions kinda crystallized.. Thick skin can only help that much- one needs to be truly crazy about fashion and the process of creating something, to be able to deal with the pressure. There were 2 people we had to cooperate with that were challenging but my enthusiastic mood affected them xD However, I think that young girls take that to heart.. Girls younger than 25 are still in the development phase and have very limited life experience.. They feel depressed when theyre not able to assert themselves in the right way and it affects their character development..
I'm not that in with fashion and stuff but Jisoo really got me into it, I feel like she has a classical face + commercial beauty, whilst her other members like Jennie is baby face and commercial beauty. Lisa and Rose seems sharp + classical + commercial and maybe Lisa have a baby face (?) Tzuyu may have the classical + commercial Jeong may have that classical + sharp + commercial and so on
OMG, you have inspired me to film a video about it! So, I'm just going to share my thoughts a bit later :) I'd say I'm agree with some your thoughts and with some others I have a bit different opinion. You know it's a bit hard to discuss Korean idols / actors etc, because of the plastic surgery they often do and they already have some "standards". But it's super interesting to talk about. Thank you ❤️
What if I'm a female but have very sharp and masculine face features? Like I could pass as an attractive male if I was put in the right clothes :/ are modeling industries looking for that at all?.. Or is that considered bad/ugly or sumn because I'm female
Yes, yes and yes! From what I imagine you have an exceptional and unique look and agencies / agents are looking for such features all the time, especially if you're tall. If not, then it will be a bit harder to find modeling jobs, but still it's possible. So, if you're interested in becoming a model, please try it out! I'm sure you are gorgeous. And it's not considered bad or ugly at all. Btw in modeling industry this type of look sometimes called "androgynous beauty". Maybe I'll film a video about it too :)
I don't know much about the modeling world, but I assure you that for many people having an androgynous look is very attractive! Plus, I know there are some models who even model both for feminine and masculine clothes!

Hello and thank you for watching! :) To be honest, it's a bit hard to explain, it's like a third feeling... If you're working in fashion industry, when you see a person, who's suitable or modeling job, you just immediately know it. At least this is how it works for me. I think the good example is education in arts - you either know the painter /the date painting was made / the style of the painting etc, or not. To understand it on 100% you just need to visually educate yourself. You can do this by checking out models.com website and seeing latest fashion news, show packages, modeling agencies websites and so on. And since time you'll be able to figure out if someone has a good face for modeling or not. Or you can simply ask a professional - its the easiest way :) Hope my answer helps and good luck!
Would you say that dark skinned people (doesn't matter which continent) are not that popular in the fashion industry in general? The only dark skinned person in this video was Winnie Harlow and she's not even completely dark skinned. Would you say there is still a lack of ethnical diversity in the industry?
It is both yes and no... The industry has been changing and it is more diverse now. It only depends on the fashion market and the needs / personal preferences of local clients. US is very open to every type of beauty, Europe is like 50/50 or 60/40 maybe... And I'd say that Asian markets aren't that open-minded yet. I mean they're slowly starting to book some black / mixed ( Blasian, Black + Caucasian etc) models, but it's only really big agencies with the big divisions and they book like one, two models maximum. They do prefer pale skin and either mixed (Asian + white or Hispanic) or Caucasians - that's true. I have more examples with different models on my pinterest board pin.it/7EOZm7t And first of all, it's my mistake not including more dark skinned models in this video and I apologize for that. To summarise eveerything: the situation is much better than it was before, but still not perfect yet.
@@TatianaKurnosova Thank you for your explanation! So from what it sounds like it's hard even for, let's say, very tanned or dark skinned Asians to enter the market even if they have "perfect" measurements and facial features? I heard of this issue before for example in countries like India, Thailand, etc. And yes, compared to the last centuries it got a lot better
This is actually very interesting, i thought for you to be consider a model you always need to have high hollow cheekbones 😅 i think if i was to pursue, i would be label more as a baby face sort of model. Any tips on how to become more photogenic?
Thank you so much Alexa, I'm glad you enjoyed this video :) I recommend you to practice in posing and being confident in front of the camera. There are no "not photogenic" people, you only need to find you own way of posing (listening to your body, gestures, emotions etc) and work with good photographer. Sometimes when people think they look bad in photos it's actually because they've had an expetience of working with a terrible photographer lol Such situations are really sad, because they sometimes break people's self esteem... I recommend you to watch my playlist about model posing (both tips and examples of model posing) here ua-cam.com/play/PL2n0G6Jp9TLa1VivqPHmSyu6qzzQpTnOe.html I'm sure you'll find something interesting and helpful there. Hi Luana, I have the whole video about modeling with tattoos, scars, braces, piercing and etc., I recommend you to watch it ua-cam.com/video/anLQ6bTGPZ4/v-deo.html And I'll be honest with you - each case is different. If it's a small scars, then it might be OK. But every agent will ask you to treat it if possible. If you're interested in modeling, you should try it for sure. And I'm explaining how to become a model step by step here too ua-cam.com/video/B_sPK2Ewy-U/v-deo.html Anyways, wishing you best of luck!
Hey! You can definitely model with acne scars. I was on accutane for a year for severe acne and have quite a bit of scarring from it. My agent didn't mind at all. Im sure it varies by agency but models when shooting are wearing a full face of makeup 90% of the time. Im sure I wont be booking any of those neutrogena clear skin ad's but most other shoots will have you in makeup as well as using photoshop to touch up anyway!
I mean the biggest model in the world used to so i think its fine they usually photoshop it out or cover it with makeup.Im only did chikd modelling and still do it now from time to time (as a teen) and i suffer from some sorts of acne but usually with some conceller/foundation they are easy to fix and some photoshop/editing just to smothen my face out and cover the bumps etc. However for runway modelling im not sure though its a very small percentage the modelling industry is becoming alot more diverse. Also acne can be controlled no matter how long it takes so i think maybe good skincare to get rid of it would be advised.❤❤❤
Thank you so much Grace! I'm glad that enjoyed this video ❤️ Haha, I've never thought about it, because first of all I'm not a model... It's an interesting question though. I am mixed and 100% not looking classic or commercial, so most likely it would be the strange category. But... still, I'm not a model and I don't think my face would be good for the industry except for the Asian markets😁
We all are insecure at some points, it's absolutely normal. If you're interested in modeling, you should definitely try it. I have plenty of videos about becoming a model on my channel, I'm sure you'll find something helpful for you here. Good luck! :)

I have a playlist about model posing ( both tips and examples), feel free to check it out ua-cam.com/play/PL2n0G6Jp9TLa1VivqPHmSyu6qzzQpTnOe.html Also practive both in front of the mirror and ask some of your friend to take photos of you (not the selfies, you need to work with the other person). And don't think about how you look exactly, just try to find you "body language" and just practice on posing in front of the camera without overthinking :)

a good way to describe "strange" looking is actually "unconventional beauty" it's a popular English expression. it means that they're beautiful but their beauty is not within society's standards
Thank you so much for letting me know! 😊☀
These days people cant differentiate between unattractive and unconventional beauty
But the beauty standard is the unconventional beauty....
this is a good point, strange can have a bad sound to it.
@@TaYLoRBReaKouT if unconventional beauty is the standard then it isn't unconventional since it's literally what's considered beautiful🙄🙄
I think it would be more interesting being a scout & finding the fresh faces. Than modelling.
And the career would last longer and you wouldn’t get discarded when you don’t look youthful anymore
And if the model you scouted blows up then you can be like “I found that person”
I wonder how one can become a scout
@@lauranalie same, I’d like to consider it as a career.
That's what I pretend to do while walking around city.
i think im decent looking? but the camera makes me look gross even though I KNOW i dont look like that irl.
edit: to anyone who will say nO tHe wAy yOu lOoK oN cAmeRa iS tHe rEaL yOu stfu and know that phone cameras heavily distort faces. im more curious on why some people look worse in photos than they do irl, and why others look good in both photos and irl even though its roughly the same amount of distortion
I have many videos about posing on my channel, here's the playlist ua-cam.com/play/PL2n0G6Jp9TLa1VivqPHmSyu6qzzQpTnOe.html
There aren't "non photogenic" people, believe me! I've worked with so so many models and private clients, so I know it for sure :)

I used to think having a baby face was a negative thing because people might see you as younger and more naive. but now I realize that type of face has advantages because not only are those models adorable, but they're also pretty too. and not every pretty model can also be cute :)

Me too, although i never thinking to be a model, but i wish i have that feature 😂

It's crazy how ''plus sized'' models aren't even that big...
@@cadaver6665 wouldnt reach as far to say that they claim M sized models to be plus size. im M size and never seen a plus sized model the same size as me. thats one of the inbetween sizes that doesnt get modelled at all usually
i hope someday we can have short and thicker models too, or darker.
The point of models is really to be a clothes hanger so they need to be slim and tall.
there is quit a lot of racial diversity in modeling, but unfortunately body type diversity is very hard to achieve because models are just used to display the clothes.
@@jesin0005 exactly. in modeling, it’s about the marketing of the clothes. it’s about the clothes, the model is just a clothes hanger. they need the model to fit the clothes, they can’t change all the clothes to fit the models.
@@jesin0005 Yup. I have seen a lot of people get really angry about modeling requirements, without even bothering to do research.
Thank you so much Jamil! 💜
When I look myself in mirror I literally feel like a model but I dunno why it's complete opposite in photographs😭
Your profile picture looks really beautiful! Maybe you need to just try working with professional photographer? The one that will help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera and will be good at "finding angles"...

I noticed that no matter the category they all have to have pretty symmetrical faces. Is that accurate?
People's faces aren't symmetrical on 100%, we all have a bit different features. You know sometimes our imperfections make us perefect - same with modeling. The main point is that everything should be in balance.
After this video I often got asked what it's like to have a model like face - like if there's an exact recipe of it... I've filmed one more video where I'm explaining it + what agencies expect to see. If you're itnerested, please fell free to watch it too. Here it is ua-cam.com/video/eXYXryDzAvA/v-deo.html
I see plenty of high fashion/strong face models with asymmetrical faces. maybe for commercial it's more important
perfectly symmetrical faces look like aliens. Everyone has a bit asymmetry, except Mark Zuckerberg. He's an alienlizard.
Edited thats why
yeah, almost all of them have narrow noses (they nose fits between their eyes), most of them have bigger/captivating eyes and majority has plumper lips. Also - cheekbones

I wish big foreheads weren’t stereotyped as ugly and you saw them in modeling more often.
These standards don't define beauty. Beauty is diverse.
Margooot but what if ppl don’t fit in the extreme parts of the diversity spectrum rather just in the middle or ‘average’
@@kayedecena8396 that's also fine. Even if you look " normal" you're still as beautiful and diverse
I'm too strange to be average and too average to be strange
when it coming to photoshoots or taking pictures in general, it's mostly just the camera works and the lighting crew/natural light that makes everything beautiful.

But for me some people say I look commercial others say classic every person has a different opinion on that lol
Unfortunately it’s always like this in fashion industry. You never know whether you’ll earn a lot this month or almost a zero :(
I was told that I have that "interesting face that agencies are looking for", but it's not enough by itself...I was 16 and weighted 54kg at the time so they told me I'm too old and too fat....I hope that things are better in the industry now!
Hi Margarita, thank you so much for sharing your experience and the point of view on everything, I appreciate it and enjoyed reading it :)
I absolutely agree that modeling isn't a perfect profession and being fashion designer is much more interesting (it's my personal opinion though and some other people may not agree with me).
Lisa and Rose seems sharp + classical + commercial and maybe Lisa have a baby face (?)
Tzuyu may have the classical + commercial
Jeong may have that classical + sharp + commercial and so on
OMG, you have inspired me to film a video about it! So, I'm just going to share my thoughts a bit later :)
I'd say I'm agree with some your thoughts and with some others I have a bit different opinion.
You know it's a bit hard to discuss Korean idols / actors etc, because of the plastic surgery they often do and they already have some "standards". But it's super interesting to talk about.
Thank you ❤️
So basically as long as your face is symmetrical your good
What if I'm a female but have very sharp and masculine face features?
Unrelated but I love your voice :D
Thank you! ☺️
There is an app (ModelMe) checking if your have a model face
these videos are super informative, thank you so much! although these videos are how to become a model, I was wondering... how can I become a modeling scout?
Loving yourself doesn't change who you are.
This was helpful but it would be even more beneficial to have some black model examples or more diversity in your examples in general. Thank you
Hello, there are more examples of model photos on my Pinterest board here pin.it/4dLbkC2 Please take a look if you're interested :)
And I apologize for not including more Black models in this video, I will be more smart next time for sure!
By the way, there's one more similar video on my channel called "Facial features modeling agencies love" where we're talking about the exact details / facial features of models with examples as well, so feel free to check it out ua-cam.com/video/J7-XvPP1hR8/v-deo.html

This make me think that I am actually maybe itsy bitsy pretty but looking at the mirror proves me wrong big time
i’m a mix of baby face and strange and kinda classic
you could call 'strange looking models' unconventially beautiful- they are attractive and eye catching just not in the societal beauty standard
Thank you! Few people have already said the same and I apologize if "strange" may have sounded rude in English, I didn't mean that at all...
I prefer "Alien beauty" myself, but I don't know if it would sound OK in Endlish too.
It was very informative but i still have a question how do I know if I have model like face or not
Hello and thank you for watching! :)
To be honest, it's a bit hard to explain, it's like a third feeling...
Or you can simply ask a professional - its the easiest way :)
Hope my answer helps and good luck!
@@TatianaKurnosova thanks 💞💞
Thank you so much Alexa, I'm glad you enjoyed this video :)
I recommend you to practice in posing and being confident in front of the camera.
I recommend you to watch my playlist about model posing (both tips and examples of model posing) here ua-cam.com/play/PL2n0G6Jp9TLa1VivqPHmSyu6qzzQpTnOe.html

Lmao definitely none of these are my face 😂
Does agencies hire girls with acne scars? I only see models with such a perfect skin.
Hi Luana, I have the whole video about modeling with tattoos, scars, braces, piercing and etc., I recommend you to watch it ua-cam.com/video/anLQ6bTGPZ4/v-deo.html
And I'll be honest with you - each case is different. If it's a small scars, then it might be OK. But every agent will ask you to treat it if possible.
If you're interested in modeling, you should try it for sure. And I'm explaining how to become a model step by step here too ua-cam.com/video/B_sPK2Ewy-U/v-deo.html
Anyways, wishing you best of luck!
Also if your the girl in your pfp you will be fine as you are gorgeous 💖
everything about me is okay but then its my nose, it is SOOOO UNSYMMETRICAL and BENT 😭
Anyone out here who look bad in photos but in video looks great??
This is a great video! I'm curious though, which face do you categorize your face as?
Thank you so much Grace! I'm glad that enjoyed this video ❤️
Haha, I've never thought about it, because first of all I'm not a model...
It's an interesting question though. I am mixed and 100% not looking classic or commercial, so most likely it would be the strange category. But... still, I'm not a model and I don't think my face would be good for the industry except for the Asian markets😁
@@TatianaKurnosova There’s plenty of mixed model nowadays especially in the USA and Western Europe.
@@cameronhowe1110 Of course and they are gorgeous for sure!

Also practive both in front of the mirror and ask some of your friend to take photos of you (not the selfies, you need to work with the other person). And don't think about how you look exactly, just try to find you "body language" and just practice on posing in front of the camera without overthinking :)
