    I hope you didn't stop your fishing because a couple people whined about it. It's your channel and the great majority of us enjoyed the variety while hiking. Do you man and don't let the small percentage change you.

    Every time I plan a trip to the Sierra, I check your channel if you've made a video on it. Lo and behold...
    Doing this route in mid September to mark my 30th birthday. I can't think of a better way to celebrate that milestone than out there.

    Great idea, I have done Kearsarge pass, Hunter packer lake and palisades glacier this summer , all as day hikes. This loop will make a great end to the summer. Love your vids , keep em coming.

    Those bridges are the same ones I crossed in 1972 and later. Did you know Scot that you can easily climb Mt. Banner in a few hours from the backside on the North side from 1000 Island? Mt. Ritter not so easily. I recognized the trails you took. I like the River Trail to Garnet, quicker than the JMT to go fishing when I had a week off. Those lakes in-between are Emerald and Ruby Lakes and they have fish in them as they used to hardly ever get fished. I fished Olaine Lake too.

    • @Sheety33
      @Sheety33  2 роки тому

      Appreciate the detail! I need to hike up Mt Banner as it would be so much fun I’m sure. When I have more time off I’ll head back up to the region and spend a few days!🤠

      @@Sheety33 It isn't a hike after a certain point, but you do not need to have much climbing experience beyond some rock scrambling.

    • @hikesteepfishhigh
      @hikesteepfishhigh Рік тому

      indeed you can summit banner by accessing north glacier pass to lake catherine. while it is class 2 it involves crossing a glacier and often snow to get to the banner Ritter hump. ice axe and crampons should be used.
      mount Davis is also accessible from lake catherine with an easier class 2 scramble. the headwaters to the north fork of the san Joaquin can also be accessed from lake Catherine. it is a mostly class 2 with a bit of easy class 3 but the route finding is difficult. the twin island lakes area is amazing. it's a long trek out via the Stevenson trail to the iron trail but it is beautiful. lots of bears though.

    Great video. Love this hike (as you can see from the profile Pic). We like to go over to Shadow Lake from Garnet and then back to Agnew meadows. Next time I go we will go Reds meadow to minaret lake, ediza lake, to thousand island, and high trail back to reds. Best of the Sierra in my book.

    I've wanted to try the gully from Garnet Lake back down to the River Trail for a long time. I've hesitated because of some pictures I've seen of a couple of sketchy spots, but it looks like you did just fine. I prefer an overnighter though, too long for me as a day hike. Great video.

    • @Sheety33
      @Sheety33  2 роки тому

      Yeah the gully is not to bad. Wouldn’t want to hike up from the river as the ascent is significant.

    Unbelievably well made video. This hike looks totally jaw dropping, and you captured everything perfectly. I really appreciate the format of these videos too. And again, how do you do these so fast? I just backpacked Ostrander Lake and it was tough for me. Anyways, keep up the great work!

    • @Sheety33
      @Sheety33  2 роки тому

      Thank you. Huge difference between backpacking and day-hiking. The weight of a daypack is minuscule compared to a backpacking backpack, which makes these types of hikes “easy” for me at least. Thanks for the love - I’m enjoying making these videos!🤠

    Yo Sheety33!….great video! I like the format. I feel like you have is the all the goodies in the first ten minutes! I hope everyone appreciates you hiking back to get the tripod on all those shots. You have a knack for composing the trail in different “lines” in the frame. Having someone go through the frame gives each vista a better sense of scale. I’ve been using Gaia maps as well. I like the topology, a lot. Did you start tracking on your phone and upload later to view on desktop? How does that work? And I don’t mind “not fishing” on this hike. It’s a lot to do, with shooting(camera), fishing, hiking, and navigating. Keep it up! Oh…at 18:40, were you wide on the iPhone, or using a GoPro?

    • @Sheety33
      @Sheety33  2 роки тому

      Thank you! Tracked with Gaia app on the phone then logged into my desktop account to view the full version of the map in 3D. 18:40 was GoPro 🤠

    Great hike and video, as usual. This is great timing as I am backpacking the loop including Eliza in a few weeks. I was concerned about water on the high trail but it looks like we should be good. Was this a recent hike?
    Any concerns getting parking at Agnew meadows? We are planning to drive in early too. Last question, did you drive up, hike, and drive back the same day?
    Keep the vis coming!!

      Have a great time and hopefully it’s not too Smokey. Along the river trail about half the streams have water. Yes, my recommendation is go early to Agnew as even at 6:00am the lot is 90% full.
