Your videos has been my guide and inspiration to go out and see the outdoors. Thank you. I’m about to hop on my road bike with some friends of mine from Lake Merced to the Marin Headlands.
Yongsung, your videos are still really good and even getting better. I just realized that there is a way for you to complete a dream that my disability took away from me. That is to take underwater pictures of these high mountain lakes. Before I had an underwater camera, back in the 1970s and 1980s, I used to dive in many of these lakes. Many were very much alike and others were fantastically different. So, if you can, stick your camera under water and let us all see my dream and please make my dream come true. Have a nice day and keep up the good work. Jeff.
That's very interesting idea. You are really visionary person! I am not sure how good I can do it. I love watching alpine lakes but have a fear of jumping into it. You know the temperature. :) But I will definitely try it next time.
Just stick your selfie stick around under the water, that would be a start. Thanks for considering my idea. It may, or may not, be a good view. Have a nice day.
Yes. Just bring a warm sleeping bag/pad as it will be very cold at night. If you don't good one, you can put boiled water in the water bottle and put it in the sleeping bag. It will keep you warm for 4 hours.
Mid September is a little too late. You need to take the Devils Postpile Shuttle to do this hike. The shuttle operates between mid-June to mid-September.
Hi Yongsung, I live in CA and pretty much any backpacking trip I'm planning I'll look up your channel and unsurprisingly you'll have already posted a video about it! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures for us. What month was this trip? It seems like there is a lot of snow on the far side of Iceberg Lake. I've read trip reports that said that the snow fields made the route (around 0:49) between Iceberg Lake and Cecil Lake treacherous (at least without proper snow gear like ice axe and microspikes). Do you have any advice for this part? To my knowledge the route between Cecil Lake and Minaret Lake is similarly offtrail but it seems that this part is not as exposed/steep is that right? Also even though you didn't make it to Lake Catherine, that spot where you camped with the view of Garnet and Thousand Island Lake (2:30) is insane! Do you have a route map for this trip by any chance? Curious how far from Nydiver you had to walk to get that view :)
I always upload video within a couple of days after my trips. This video was taken during 4th of July weekend of high snow year. Last winter was very dry. I am sure that you will not need any snow gear this summer. I was heading to Lake Catherine, but changed route spontaneously as it looked a doable shortcut. Unfortunately, we ended up a dead end surrounded by cliffs every direction. The only choice was tracing back to where we started. So forget about 2:30. ;) Iceberg Lake and Cecil Lake is a little sketch. But it will not be a big deal if snow free. There is a use trail between Cecil Lake and Minaret Lake although it's crazy steep.
You can enter this area from one of these trailheads; Shadow Creek, High trail, River trail or Rush Creek. You can book the permit here. www.recreation.gov/permits/233262
Yongsung Kim , yes went there by myself. The temperature in Santa Cruz went triple digits that day so the hike was hard. The boat ride is done through Islandpackers.com website.
Awesome video! I will be doing this hike the 2nd week of August, I’m super stoked now after watching. How was the trail from Cecile to Ediza? I’m a little concerned because I’m taking a couple beginner backpackers on this trip.
Thanks Leon. Ceceil to Iceberg was the most challenging part of this trip. I wouldn't recommend this part to beginner backpackers. If you have a permit starting from Minaret Lake, you might not have other options. Otherwise, there are many other places to explore.
Check out this video. It's was my very first backpacking trip in the same area. But I didn't hike between Ceceil to Iceberg. ua-cam.com/video/Ae6Ye973BXk/v-deo.html

What an incredible trip! I’m visiting this area soon, too. Keep up the inspiring work, Yongsung!
Thanks Stephen. Have a great trip to Ansel Adams. I am sure you will love it.
So cool, I’m planning on doing this as well, so it was great seeing this
Hi Isley, I just subscribed your channel. Your videos are amazing. Keep doing the new things and share your experience with the world.
Beautiful video, and a great story and insight as well! I still like the fact that you tried out a new way! :)
Thanks Hyunjin-nim. I would try out a new way if I do it again. It's more fun not knowing what's going to happen. :)
I love this! Thank you so much for posting it!
Thanks Dominic.
Beautiful nature would you recommend backpacking for mid October?
Yes. Just bring a warm sleeping bag/pad as it will be very cold at night. If you don't good one, you can put boiled water in the water bottle and put it in the sleeping bag. It will keep you warm for 4 hours.
FANtastic!!
Thank you sir! :)
What time of year would you recommend doing this trail? Would mid September be a good time?

Beautiful Video! What camera did you use? 4k?
This video was taken 2 years ago with GoPro Hero 4 Silver which didn't support 4K.
The latest version of GoPro supports 4K.
I was there last July!
Nice!
Looks like you had bad mosquitoes. When did you go?
It was July 4th holiday. I wore the mosquito net as a precaution when I saw a mosquito. But it was not that bad.
YongSung Kim, recommended how to get the permit? I have hard times getting my.

@@YongsungKim thank-you.
I just came back from Channel Islands National Park. I'm not sure if you already visited but you should check it out.
No, it's still on my bucket list. I watched you videos. Did you go alone there?

Thanks Joe.
What month was this?
It was early this month.
Yongsung Kim wow lots of snow left. Thanks for the reply. Awesome vid!
Thanks Morgan. Yeah, there was lots of snow above 11,000 feet.
I hope you are aware of not to camp on vegetation. Your tent clearly looks on grass.
Thanks for reminding me Tarun. I really appreciate it and I will be more careful next time.
@@YongsungKim Thank you for sharing these! Love eastern Sierra :)
