Jazza, I'm a new follower and you're one of my favorite art UA-camrs. You're blowing your goal out of the park. I watched the Kickstarter page and you reached the halfway point in less than 20 minutes. Dude, you're doing it 🎉🎊🖌️🎨 This is incredible.
It happened so fast! I would definitely go for the packed backing tier if I could afford it, it’s so worth it. I might try and back a really small amount or just wait for the release, but nonetheless, I’m so excited as well!
6:58 is all the reasons why I gotta keep watching jazza, his excitement for something so simple and small is how everyone should feel about their art ❤
This kind of painting was used in film for quite some time. They used to paint on glass to shape the foreground or the background of the shot. It was kinda like .PNG file placed on top of the footage. I think this would make a nice follow-up video!
Exactly what I was thinking, he should try old fashioned real matte painting. Would also be interesting to see him add characters to a real background with the same technique, as a fun twist.
I’d love to see you have another go at this when the conditions are more suitable! It would be cool to see you paint an illusion with the reflection on water maybe? Maybe painting a ghostly figure reflected on the surface of a pond, where when you stand there it looks like your own reflection?
Not nearly as practiced* so gtfo there and practice! If you wanna try something go do it! Just get those real life experience points if you gather enough I promise you'll level up! (I hope this is inspiring and not mean I just want you to know you can do it and it'll be worth it)
They say it takes 10,000 hours to master something. That's maybe 4-5 years of full time dedication to it. If you think "I can't do it so I'm not even going to try" then you're not going to progress and grow your skills. That's 0 hours toward 10,000
I love when jazz fools around with random stuff, but sometimes I wonder if he's actually good at art. But when he does what he's good at he's a damn good artist.
I just wanted to tell you that regardless of the results you get from your challenges or from whatever you are making, you are one of my favorite content creators. It’s not about what you are creating for me, it’s more about your delivery. It’s refreshing that I am always able to throw on one of your videos and be entertained. Definitely my emotional support UA-cam channel. I hope you never stop doing what you do.
Would love to see a follow up with this technique :) outdoor lighting does seem really tricky. Perhaps more indoor explorations? I’m thinking of a library, coffee shop, etc?
I've been searching for an art supply bag that's sufficiently large for YEARS and backed a kickstarter for one.. and that one's alright but still not big enough. Maybe this new bag will be what I'm looking for 👀 edit: also a tip, for a good opaque travel paint I recommend gouache! Even when dry you can get amazing color salutation, I love it
@@yourparalysisdemon1936Technically yes, but you can’t reactivate acrylic with water. Gouache can be deactivated with water, like water color. So even if it dries on the pallet you can still use it by adding water.
I love that you had some really cool ideas about doing this effect in a cemetery, respectfully decided that it wasn't okay to utilize the final resting place of random strangers as a way to create content, and left that bit in during your editing. Hopefully more content creators see that being a decent person and being a successful content creator aren't contradictory conditions. Thanks for being a good example.
To Jazza, My favorite thing about these videos is that you show us your process: how you just jump into things headlong AND THEN you make a method to the madness 😂… I love it though because it really helps reinforce that anyone is capable of this stuff, but their first attempt definitely won’t be perfect, and even the next two or three attempts may not. From a much less experienced artist who has been watching your content for a few years, thank you Jazza. Keep doing what you’re doing.
It's so rare and inspiring to see the successes and failures of the process that you choose to keep in your videos. For that I respect you so much more. It should give hope to those that think of giving up at the first hurdle and instead learn and push on.
Love this video and its idea. And love all the pieces done in this video. And love the final result for the last idea. Good luck with the Kickstarter Jazza.
I enjoy the switch back to oils. The clouds kept shifting making it seem off but this was still really cool looking. Love to see it jump to underwater if possible
Long before tiktok we had this as a project in art school. Me being better with Photoshop than painting had nothing to do with how perfectly my piece fit the scene, no sir!
The last one was really cool when you would jump across from one side to another! Reminds me of a video I saw quite some time ago where this guy would wrap a few feet of plastic around the trunk of a tree and he would paint what you would see if the tree wasn't there. It was crazy looking!
i've been watching jazza for a solid couple of years. it's crazy to have seen him go from doing just drawing tutorials to kickstarting his own bag and it makes me proud of how far he's come. then he accidentally eats oil paint...
Your Kickstarter is going up in 10s of 1000s at a time! Woohooo! I think you should try doing a larger piece, up to 6x6 inches, it might make it easier to blend and paint rapidly as the size will be a bit bigger :)
Love seeing a classic aussie road be your chosen scene. This was so cool! Have you thought of taking photos of scenery and then adding to the photos either digitally or via paint etc to make them fantasy pictures?!
So cool to see the behind the scenes of this trend! It would be entertaining to see another like this, with a portal painted on the left and right, throw ingredients in one side, and a cake comes out the other! I never would have predicted to have so many troubles.... the edited timelapse makes it took so smooth!
I've been watching you for years, You are a content creator that has stuck to his ways and I was more than happy to back you! I'm excited that it's fully funded which means i'll get a bag! so keen!
Every social media person is always taught to mention if its an AD, free gifted by that company etc etc etc. It needed te be mentioned on the video and in the description
I really love when you make videos like this, It's nice to see you leave in parts where you struggle and just have fun with trying new things. It honestly makes me feel as if making mistakes whilst learning can be fun and silly
3:23 make this face on the daily. I love watching jazza have a process to things, couldn’t have struggled more but his art always turns out to be a masterpiece 🥹
Jazza, you should try "light painting photography"!! I think your followers would love to see you make that video and it would be really funny I think! Thanks for having such great, lighthearted content. You make me laugh!
Haven't even finished the video yet. I had to check out your bag. It's a beautiful bag. I hope it is successful and you are able to continue selling them after the kickstarter. I'm no artist or creator, but I'm on edge because this would be an excellent gift for an artistic new college student I know. Keep up the good work and thank you for the effort you put into everything you do. 😊
This bag is going to be my first youtube merch purchase!! thank you jazza for entertaining me for all these years and best of luck for the kickstarter!!
Watching this 3 hours after the Kickstarter launched and it’s already blown past the $150K goal. Will be interesting to see how far it goes. Best of luck, Jazza! I don’t watch TikTok (just a lot of reactions to, Lol!), so I’ve never heard of this trend. Very cool! I have to wonder if there isn’t some.. shall we say “Photoshop” type shenanigans going on with some of the TT videos, especially given how difficult some aspects are when it comes to natural settings (light, wind, etc.).
So cool how you Jazza'd up the last painting! 😄This looked sooo difficult! Doing this in a city might be a bit easier if you can back up into a shadowy corner where the wind isn't so ruthless. Also congrats on reaching the treshold for the Carry-all Studio; wáy ahead of scedule 🥳Which is only fair, because I'm exited for one of those to become my new travel bag 🙏 Hopefully in Prussian Blue 🥰
13:55 you can choose a spot where there's a real castle/monument behind but it doesn't look like, and only reveal it after you painted it and remove the frame.
Dear Jazza, I have been watching your channel for YEARS! Like since before 2016. And I used to watch every single video, I would get so excited to watch each new one. But then somewhere along the line your videos changed. What kept me on the channel: your amazing PERSONALITY, CHARISMA & PASSION was disappearing, replaced by quick editing, loud music & meme-type visual gags. I went chasing your original IT-FACTOR, which brought me to your TableTop channel and your vlog, where the editing wasn’t so brutal. And I continue, to this day, to watch your vlog without watching the main channel because it turns me off so much. But I would just like to say that I LOVED THIS VIDEO, because I don’t feel that it cut out any of your personality. I will try to watch your videos again, if this is any indicator. I am not at all saying this because I think that my tastes should matter to you, but rather because it might reflect a lot of people’s feelings and if it does, hopefully can help your videos succeed
Finally, the illusion stands and falls with the rim zone of the picture. Which means that it should be the main focus at first to match these areas with the backround. Then the inside can filled with everything that the painter wants. It could be therefore a good idea to make a far bigger picture by filling at first the rim area with the correct matching colors and then go wild with the rest.
Love this content! Really wanted to order one of your bags but out of my budget right now. I'm going to start saving for your next product though so please keep them coming! You really inspired me, Jazza. I'm now brave enough to try my own living room mural.
It’s hilarious that immediately after he says “well you can’t really see the square” and cuts to the mural it genuinely took me a second to realize where it was
This reminds me of the body painting competition show skin wars where they’d have an illusion challenge or two every season but on a human body! It would be really cool to see Jazz’s try body painting
Would be awesome if you try matt painting as they use to do in movies before CGI. something like the emerald city in the wizard of Oz or the fight of Vader and Luke in the cloud city.
A little cheat code with this is you only have the make the very edges match perfectly. From there, it just has to be coherent and realistic. Like you could paint the very edges while out there, then bring home the canvas and finish the painting from home, then return it to the original position and it would still look good.
Not a perfect illusion but not bad at all. Great first try Jazza! 😁👍 I wouldn't mind you trying this again. Hmm... I wonder if it might be easier to do if you go mixed media? 🤔 Like, do a quick color lineart with color pencils or markers to get the lineup reference from directly behind the camera, do big blocks of underpainting in acrylic paint so it dries fast and then do the areas that need blending and the details with the oil paints? Might work. 😅 Working fast seems to be the key to doing this right, apart from working during a perfectly overcast day. The camera also needs to be positioned just right from what I can tell, practically right above your shoulder and directly behind you, zoomed to about what you see in front of you. That's tough to get perfect and I suspect everyone else who did the effect had someone else doing that part, lol. It might be easier if you were sitting while painting but I could be wrong. 😳
Hey, little tip: If you are using superclamps to hold a pane of glass, consider using the flat insert in the V shape of the clamp, to even out the pressure on the glass. I have cracked some larger panes exactly like that before hahah
I love how Jazza could just film from the sidelines instead of trying to work with the filming set up and put the camera in when he's done but he chooses not to for the sake of the viewers' experience
If an adult saw jazza walking around like this they would approach him slowly and softly say "hello sweetheart, have you lost your mother, or your group?"
9:18 To be honest, it would kinda be an honor to have my grave painted by Jazza! However I understand why others may not feel that way, and I'm glad that's being respected.
Hi Jazza, I recently got into a school because I chose AP art (I'm from Canada. I don't know if you have AP classes. It stands for Advanced Placement.), but I am the definition of a beginner. I can draw my dog and it's not too bad, but I really am not an artist. I love art and having fun with it and I love being creative, but I dont have the skills and I want to get better before I go to school where I know nobody and am in a class I might not be ready for. I was hoping you could make a video on tips and tricks and skills you have learned helping beginners get better. I'm so sorry for rambling. I just love your channel and I think you are an amazing artist! have a great rest of your day, or night, or whenever you see this. 💜
You’re a great artist and I love that you tried this. Even though you didn’t get it perfect I love that you put your own twist on it and made it work for you
really would have helped if that long grass was not there in the last one. But the sky and road were almost invisible if you squint your eyes just enough! Great job overall Jazza!
A cheats way to do it: 1) take a photo of the scene without the canvas on the easel, 3) take a photo with the canvas on the easel, 4) use photoshop to overlay the scene overtop the canvas 5) use this to paint from as reference as it will have consistent lighting, and its much easier to paint from a 2D picture, than from painting from life. Of course if the goal is to practise painting from life then doing it your way is such great practise! Youve done a fantastic job as always! 😄
Well, that's exactly how they made matte paintings for cinema back in the day. But they usually painted them on transparent acrylic to mask only what they wanted to hide on a screen.
Came out really cool. Cemetery would have been cool. Our local art students have days where they do art in the old part of our local Cemetery. I even took some really nice senior pictures for a friend there and no you could not see any gravestones.
Love it. I wonder if a light diffuser sheet above you (between the sun and canvas) would help keep the light on the painting more consistent… doesn’t help the light on the scene but will reduce specular reflecting off the paint.

Jazza, You should paint that white van of yours. Would be a sick video!
Even though you didn’t get it perfect I love that you put your own twist on it and made it work for you
Made me laugh out loud. Love your vids. Thanks for the entertainment and the laughs. ❤
Hit your goal way out of the park Jazza. You shall have bags!
OK, that was very cool, I love that your having so much fun with it
really would have helped if that long grass was not there in the last one. But the sky and road were almost invisible if you squint your eyes just enough! Great job overall Jazza!
The camera man needs some award for recording this
Absolutely Incredible 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
A cheats way to do it: 1) take a photo of the scene without the canvas on the easel, 3) take a photo with the canvas on the easel, 4) use photoshop to overlay the scene overtop the canvas
5) use this to paint from as reference as it will have consistent lighting, and its much easier to paint from a 2D picture, than from painting from life. Of course if the goal is to practise painting from life then doing it your way is such great practise! Youve done a fantastic job as always! 😄
10:32 " i just ate oil paint!!!" 😅😂
Feeling the positivity in this video :)
This is incredible yes I would love to see another go when the weather is perfect for it 🤩
Amazing! Love getting out of the studio! It worked amazingly! Also love the more relaxed pace.
Yes, do it again! I love you adding your own fictional elements to the picture
Well, that's exactly how they made matte paintings for cinema back in the day. But they usually painted them on transparent acrylic to mask only what they wanted to hide on a screen.
"It's not like you jazza !! You always show you're art but you click baited us this time"
Came out really cool.
