I just bought a Rotring 800 for my grandson. He is studying Engineering and I am sure he will really appreciate the craftsmanship.
Jerry Stark best grandpa ever
Your a good man
I hope your grandson loved it :) I just bought one for myself for the same reasons haha
@@ChrisWhoLikesGrapes 600 by far is their best model all other models have some very bad flaws. I would never recommend anyone get anything besides the 600
@@slurp3194 i have both the 600 and 800, and the 800 feels more premium to be honest. I like it more
"Or in German *walrus sound*"
Wher e did u get that from
Thought he threw up.
Rotring es ist immer wieder lustig Englisch sprechende deutsch sprechen zu hören
Rotring sounds funny to english speakers

Red ring.
red on black = stunning
+FunOrange Agreed!
+FunOrange yeah i use red on black a lot so yeah your right! it is agreed!
Red on black + gold = awesome
If it was green+black=omg I would get it
Senpai , what are u doing here?
I am OBSESSED. I cannot stop buying these. HELP
i used the rotring 600 during my engineering degree and i just loved its build quality... I still have them even after 7 years has passed
I've got a rotring rehau (couldn't find any picture of it on google), I got it from my mom, it must be 30 years old, still works!
How do you not lose it? Serious question.
Rotring is known for quality mech pencils and eye watering price
It is not that bad considering most drafts need to be done in technical pens, like rapidographs.
Now those are around 15 euros a piece and also you need more than three of them atleast plus the ink.
Or order a set for 150 euros.
I swear, i have more pen thingys than a artist would, and i'm supposed to be a engineer.
@@lazar2175 I bought my Rotring 600 in .5 in 1990 when they were new. It was a status symbol for engineers. I've worn the paint off of the knurled grip section in 20+ years of constant use. They were $20.00+ in 1990 so the current price is cheaper when adjusted for inflation.
come on, thats completely not true.
this is a pen made for and used for technical drawings, they where never overly expensive.
only if you drop, lose or damage your pens every year and rebuy everything it gets expensive.
even if they where 100 bucks a piece it wouldnt be expensive if they last a lifetime.
Inevitable Crafts Lab they are expensive, relatively
I used a rotring for 20 years of my life, took me through all my education, from elementary to Phd...
... It was a Rotring which my Mother used for all her studies, passed down to me.
I think it was with it.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY-
oh wait i don't have money
Thank you! Great video! I appreciate the breakdown
I bought my rotring 800 from you guys and I love it!
I got my first Rotring pencil in 6th grade. I believe it was a 600 3.5mm black one. It was my absolute favorite pencil that I owned. I adored taking notes with it. I'm now a sophomore in highschool and just got a Rotring 600 0.5 black mechanical pencil. Genuinely THE best pencil I have ever owned and I wouldn't prefer to use any other mechanical pencil.
Rotring 800>>>
The best comparison video of the rotring pencil range, short and to the point
The Rapid Pro is my new favorite! Rotring really does make great writing utensils.
*IMPORTANT!!!!!!* THE 800 HAS A WOBBLY TIP. I found that the tip wobbles around half of a millimeter inside its housing when deployed. Although it seems negligible, it actually makes a giant difference. For a pen that was designed mainly for artists and engineers (and costs more than my dinner), any level of wobble is unacceptable. The writer should not try to compensate for the pencil's wobble of all things when they are immersed in a hobby or creating a detailed drawing. I own a Rapid Pro with a simpler retracting tip mechanism, and it doesn't disturb my writing or drawing because it doesn't wobble at all.
LESS IMPORTANT BUT STILL LEFT OUT FROM MANY VIDEOS: The Rapid Pro has a larger grip section than the rest of the pencil's body. That is to take note of, since the 600 and 800 have smaller grip sections compared to their bodies. This small difference in proportion translates to a giant difference in practice, especially for someone who is observant or writes for extended periods of time.
Sir Rotring 600 is very heavy. Isn't it. Not really suitable for writing. What do you suggest?
I've used all the fancy japanese pencils out there, from the zebra delguard (which works amazingly if you have heavy hands and break lead a lot) to the kuru toga, which is amazing for keeping a sharp point on any lead, particularly 4b. But no matter what, I just keep going back to my rotring 600. The mechanisms in the japanese pencils are nicer, but the brass body rotrings (skip the 300 and 500) just feel like goddamn surgical instruments. I just wish the twist eraser wasn't still on patent by pentel. They have the best eraser design in history but the worst pencils on the market. Give me a rotring 600/800 with the kuru toga rotation mechanism and a skinny twist eraser and I'd have a pencil for the rest of my life.
make one yourself !
Don't think that eraser thing is true. I have a Uni and a couple Kokuyo pencils with twist erasers.
@@icarus2k huh, maybe the patent wore off or other companies came up with a different mechanism.
@@colinmartin9797 Most likely. As someone who mainly takes math classes but isn't actually good at math, those twist erasers are a blessing.
I'm using my wife's rotring from mid 90's and it's so comfortable...they are quality
been using the 600, its great to write and to share with friends who initially could not believe the weight and fell of the pencil
Thanks JetPens
grennysohail Glad you're enjoying it! :)
I have been using the 500 for 3 years and it still perfect. In addition, some rotrings are also available in blue, green and red.
rotring 600 is my favorite I bought both black and silver
Impossible to choose between the 800 black and silver both look so good :)
The 600 series is the best. Perfect balance, weight and a classic design.
Dang, that roting 800 is just so beautiful uhg
I'm loving the 800, so much so that I think I need one
Ruben Reyes did you ever get one 😅
That 800 looks beautiful
James scholz.
Got 300 recently, it is good value having a well balance weight. Also very cool thanks to german engineering
I’ll definitely be getting the Rotring 800. The retractable tip is a huge selling point, it’ll be great in my travel art kit.
no, they are horrible for drawing, take the 600!!
@@inevitablecraftslab why
@@Alpheus_09C because a retractable tip only works for a few weeks until it falls apart
@@inevitablecraftslab fr? It literally falls off? Isn't that a big design error
I like the lead grade indicator in the lower-priced ones.
most informative vid about most pencils!
Thanks for watching!
I just bought a 600 today :)
Thanks a lot this video was very helpful
TAKE MAH MONEY
rotring 600 is my favorite pencil, period. Last year I bought a rotring 500, 600, pentel smash, graphgear 500, kerry sharp, staedtler 925 05, tombow monograph, zebra delguard, dr. grip, kuru toga advanced, pipe slide, and roulette about a year ago. I happened to pick the rotring 600 to write with first, and all the other pencils have gone untouched
The rotring 600 the best!
Loved 800+
I have Rotring600's copy sample, MIT3000. This mechanical pencil was made in 1994s. It made company name is MICRO.
+서대호 Thanks for sharing! :)
Man, I remember watching this and being so envious. Now I've got a Rapid Pro, and 3 rOtring 600s. (2 in 0.5, one's sliver and the other black, and another silver in 0.7)
That's interesting
Is it worth buying rotring rapid pro in comparison to 600?what about build quality of the pen?any issues problems while using the pen?is this fully metal or some plastic inside the pen?
@@vinaynagdev3774 if you want pens with metal build, I recommend Parker Pens. Simple and lightweight with the refills also made of metal.
Love the silver rapid PRO
I'd love to see the Rotring 800 Pencil in Green like we see with the 600.
I need all of them.
The 800 is so beautiful.
+PhantomDrawing Agreed. :)
Can't wait for my 800 to come in the mail.
rotting user since 1999, Jet pens the best for a parts and many more.
I love line-up videos could you please make a lot more :-) :-D
+The Blacklist LP We'll do our best!
Rotring 800 very nice
I might go for the rapid pro and the 800.
I don’t have a rotring but what weirded me out for a second was what all the design choices of drafting pencils were for. For like 3 years I’ve been using a .3 mm pentel graftgear 500 and I never really paid much attention to it. Don’t even really remember why I bought it haha. But now that I look at it a lot of design choices in it had meaning and not just to look neat. I guess you learn something new everyday, huh
I like rotring 800 the most with silver
this is so cool.
I got my rotring today. WHOOP
My favorite rotrıng 800+
Somebody explain to me why they don't make the tip of these high-end pencils using titanium. The whole thing becomes garbage when the barrel is bent inwards from a simple fall onto the concrete and the lead begins coming out damaged.
the rotring 600 is the best
I using 800+. Sometimes handy for smart phone and tablet. Moreover, to put it in my pocket. Thus does not see the damage the pen tip. Guyz, 800+ is for a lifetime. Amazing pencil, its king...
Ah yes the Thinkpads of mechanical drafting pencils
Very well-said
In Love but so expensive :/
Right?
+Kian Clarence (Goseiger50) how much
50$
$20-$30 for 600
i have the 800 in black and its held up well for 3 years, very good purchase
I would like it if 800 had A turn led Thingy
*I LOVE THIS CHANNEL*
iamJapanese student.Iikerotring!!
It is the best
But we want to explain about rOtring 800 2mm
if rotring were to release the 1000 ver. with the lead indicator and tip retractor, that would be the best pencil period, even better with kuru toga's mechanism it would be the apex of pencils
Senya Gotoku and zebra del guard’s lead protector... Oh man i would buy this combination for ANY price. I would pay 1000€ for it.
rotring 600 0.35 is the best of the line. I use it with pentel AinStein 0.3 B.
not true the 0.5 is the best :) i use it with EF Lamy fountain-pens
OMG!!! I want...but here in Brazil doesn't have
After using the rapid pro I can say it is my favorite the 800 has a problem I can't put my finger on
Simple, yet sharp and sophisticated. Why do I not have it yet?
+Kian Clarence (Goseiger50) You won't regret it! :)
+JetPens PenPal I have it, but not from Jetpens. I was dying wanting a Rotring 600 .35 mm.
i have 600. i like it
Congratulations!Award for most viewed of some ,yet 100k likes and under 20 dislikes.
keep watching this video because I’m so bored, can’t wait till my 500 comes soon
i need this
The 600 is the one to go
Rotring 800 and rapid PRO is the best! Because 300, 500, 600 is not include sleeve protection. Rotring's sleeve is quite weak. Furthermore, rotring mechanical pencils are quite heavy. So, if you drop accidently, sleeve is damaged frequently... :(
I using Rapid and Tk fine 2317 and I'm happy
It would be nice if there's a rotring 600 clutch type 2mm lead holder
hav an 800 and rapid pro, use them so much ,wish i got the black rapid pro though
+jamezyboy11 No worries--the silver one looks great too!
***** i just think the texture on the black barrel would feel better idk
I am using my fathers mid 90s rotring mechanical pencil and it still works like a charm . Not like the plastic crap u get now adays .
I love my 600. but an 800 would be cool. the lead sleeve got bent the 3rd day i had it, and it took me almost 2 months too bend it back
Daniel Eastman I bent mine as well but I've found that a BIC pen cap fits perfectly on it
cccstudios521 thanks for the "tip"
Daniel Eastman boii
I prefer the 500. Best mechanical pencil ever. I slightly shave down the edges of the plastic barrel with an exact-o knife to make it even more comfortable.
+junktube4000 That's cool that you customize the pen to fit your needs! :)
I am german and i dont think that you can pronounce "rotring" worse then you did:D
Valentin How do you actually pronounce it?
I dare you to say "squirrel"
Valentin Is the T silent?
Red Bean Sketches rodering
Than.
I wish these came in 0.3mm
I bought the cheap rotring 500. Accidentally dropped it once, and the metal needle bent.
These are literally the best pencils money can buy. If you’re in college or any professional setting that requires lots of writing and you prefer pencil, go ahead and buy yourself a Rotring 600. For $20 you will have the most enjoyable writing experience for the rest of your life. The 800 is nice but more for show and not as practical (although the retractable tip is nice) as the 600
If you need to do a lot of non-stop writing (or drawing or whatever you use your pencils for) on a daily basis and you use something as heavy as 600 for it, there's a high chance you might be in for arthritis and/or RSI. Heavy brass pencils are best suited for short use sessions that won't strain your hand much. For long sessions, something lighter and with a wide, cushy grip would be a healthier choice.
I think 2mm clutch pens are being overlooked here.
Hi! I am very interested in these drafting pencils. I have looked through information for all of the pencils for a couple months now, made a chart and slowly cut down to which pencil I wanted. Now I am stuck between the rOtring 600 and the rOtring 800. I understand that the only difference is that the 600 doesn't have an option where you can push back the tip , but it has a label. For me personally, I don't need the label because I always use HB led. I also understand that the 800 does have an ability to push back the tip, but it doesn't have a label. Right now I really am convinced on buying the 800, then again I want to start out small...
The 600 is actually our bestseller--can't go wrong with that one!
lesslighter Thank you Ill check it out!
Gorgeous, but unless you're a working professional I'd go for the Pentel Graphgear 1000 for a Rotring 800 equivalent but affordable option
2mm sizes also available

I absolutely love these drafting pencils. I had one until someone decided to steal it from my drafting desk:( Though they are expensive they are worth the money. They are beautifully balanced in weight and have great precision.
Pen thieves are the worst! Hope you can get another one soon.
Yeah, me too. I'm hoping to buy a set soon.
I had a Pentel 1000 but then it got lost now I want to get a rOrting
Oskar Mora Nice, I just repurchased 2 of them. a .35 and a .50
no mention of the 2mm lead holders?
Failed to mention that they are not longer German engineered. They are made in Japan and are still great.
I didn’t know the 600 came in black/red in 0.7mm
i like it 🤩👍
If I ever find a pen called JetPen I will steal it xD

I used to have a 500, but I recently upgraded to an 800
how is it?
+Jason Lee great! I like the retractable tip, because I don't have to worry about it breaking in my case
lol my math tutor is buying me one
Hi! Was wondering if you could do a video about the GraphGear 1000 and/or 500- my two favorites. Also, what is the song in this video?! Love pieces like this.
+Ryan Stone Thank you for the suggestion! We'll put it on our list of ideas. The song is from audio jungle.
