Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger Bands, Bikes and Booze Reviews LOVE LOUIS SHIRLEY
still slightly skunky - makes me think fuggles hops?
I'd imagine that could be the East Kent Goldings that are used in there. They have earthy notes to them. I have to say though, it tastes a whole lot better now it's in bottles as does Spitfire.
drinking a bishops atm and my bottle is brown!
Great review mate. Vince here originally from Kent and we can get this in Australia. It's always in my rotation during our winter. Every time I open a bottle the aroma and taste reminds me of England more than any other English beer.
i thought sheps brewed the lidl kent ale but probably wrong
I think they do. Marstons do Aldi contract brewing and Sheps do Lidl
I seem to veer towards the toffee taste in beer, old crafty hen is my favourite ale, Urquel my favourite lager,I have not tried speckled hen as yet, can you recommend a very toffee like beers?
I’m fairly sure bishop’s finger has recently moved over to brown bottles. I’ve avoided them because of the clear bottles. Might give it a try mow.
It certainly has mate and let me tell you it's glorious. Tastes so much better than it do, even though it still tasted good in a clear bottle.
We all know Percy is the cunning criminal mastermind behind your channel.
Tescos sell Bishops Finger and other Shepard Neame beers, my local one also sells Wold Top beers, I'm from Hull. I went to a new Polish shop to find Kozel and got some Timisoreana, which wasn't metallic tasting at all and wasn't bad, quite subtle though, you may have gotten a bad can, and something called Redd's Zurawina, I didn't know but it's a cranberry beer and is like a Kriek. I've still not found any Kozel yet.
Well Kozel is Czech. You might find it in Polish shops in the Uk of course, but it’s probably not their top priority.
Fkkn love the channel.I miss long rambling coversations. about history beer and music with mates who are not with me these days.
Mate would love you to do a video on the history of your beer drinking ? How long did you drink shit beer for etc when did you first discover good beer , when did it all change for you ? Would be great to hear your side of it , and I’m guessing would be a long video special 😉😅
Mate, nothings sacred.. I bought some today , its now 5.2 % ..I am not fuming , but it seems real ales in this country are going down the same path as David Bowie's discog's website..once revered but slowly eroding into obscurity..Shepherd Neame can do one for their cost cutting bollocks !!!
My tesco have this in for £1.29 a bottle. I made sure I got mine right from the back, so mine isn't skunked thankfully!
Spot on review drinking bottle now watching this, dark fruit with earthy peppery bitterness on finish🤘🤘
Enjoy!
Decent price and beer. Like the Rev James u reviewed these type of beers much better on cask I find. Nice one Bob n Percy👍
I love this beer
First time I had it thought it was rank . But as you say your tastebuds change .. now a good steady beer , seen this scotchland by the way ,, my local Aldis Kent selling Paulaner Oktoberfest £1.79 bottle happy days
Another interesting video, had this beer many times, Morrisons sell hear in Republic of Yorkshire.i always find it to have a great head sticking to the class,I use my Sam Smith glass with a head keeper it works evertime, and never clean my beer glasses in any dish washer or use any washing up liquid just use a cleaning glass brush and use boiling water.keep up the great videos ,your UA-cam beer channel is the best iam will get in touch with shepherds neim about why they use clear bottles
Late red , Bishops finger , 1698 all good beers . Balls to all those tossers that say they don’t like Shepherd Neame beer 🍺
I've been travelling to France every summer for years now. They can't brew a decent beer if their lives depended on it. The wine though, that's another story...
Brilliant review (and I agree about some other reviewers). I have one of these in the fridge along with a 1698. I may try both tonight. if you are really interested in British beer I highly recommend, indeed insist, you read "Beer - The Story of the Pint" by Martyn Cornell.
Thanks for the suggestion on the book mate - duly ordered. Looking forward to reading that!
@@bandsbikesandboozereviews I've just finished it and now reading his Amber Gold Black which is the history of British beer styles.
I'm surprised it took you 14 minutes to mention the clear bottles. I guess Shepherd Neame get away with it.
love the fat bastard reference
8 years ago welcome to the Man's world of true beer you old lager Boy
10:30 all bought and paid for lol. Rationing, that's one of the reasons the yanks think our food is crap because the GIs came back from the war after we had fuck all to cook or eat and only had what we were given! (I say we, not me but you know what I mean lol)
I've been drinking ale for the last 20yrs, let me tell you that's some achievement living in Ireland..20yrs ago they had next to no craft ale...if you mentioned a cask ale they hadn't a clue....I've drank American, European, whatever, but I always come back to proper English Ale...it's my favourite and the best...the American style stuff is like drinking an alocpop at times, great to get a bite back into a beer..bishops finger does this and I don't care what beer snobs say about the skunk....it's my favourite beer 🍻
It's now sold in brown bottles here, maybe they saw my videos 😂😂
Honestly, it tastes so much nicer.
I am drinking this for the first time. To my French tastebuds, this is very much like a Belgian dubbel, without the fruity esthers and spicy phenols of Belgian yeasts. Very similar to a Kwak, I would assume. Kind of curious to test them side by side in the future.
I’ve been drinking lots of craft beer these last months and this tastes basically like sugar to me. Can’t find anything herbaceous, grassy, earthy, spicy or bitter. Just industrial sugar. Well, I’m mean, there are dark fruit notes like plum or date. And hey, I’m certainly not saying this is any worse than Belgian industrial sugar!
That's a pretty good comparison. A lot of Belgian brewers use English hops in the beers. I'm also drink Bishops Finger right now and they've put it in brown bottles. Tastes much better in my opinion.
25:23 I know who u talking about I'm sure of it lol I agree with you it is stupid
£1.29 is an unreal price!!!
It's what all beer should be proved at in the UK. 😂
that "positive skunk" comment shocked me to the core xD
Some people don't know good beers,,this bloke who won't review English beers shouldn't be reviewing beers full stop, bishops finger from a bottle is a fantastic English beer,,I drink it all the time and at £1.49 a bottle u can't go wrong,,better than all that other rubbish some brewers dish out.
