HELLO GAMERS, ONE AND ALL! (Edited out a segment which summarised a spoiler, totally my mistake!) New video is out (finally) and I decided to tackle an incredibly niche release that seems to have been swept under the rug a little. Hopefully this video does a good job at explaining why I think it deserves your attention! :D Look after yourselves, and I'll see you all next time!
i hate that CC2 is more known for their licensed arena fighters nowadays to the point that people think that's how they started and completely forget about their original IPs like .Hack// and the Little Tail Bronx series, thank you for covering this game. btw absolutely LOVED Solatorobo when it was new and i really hope they go through with that remake of the game & Tail Concerto
I think it's more of an issue with Bandai Namco that they aren't doing as much original IP these days and this is partially why they self published Fuga and have 2 more games planned in what they call their "Vengeance" trilogy. In Q and As with Matsuyama when a remaster original 4 games or a continuation of .hack is brought up he is constantly saying "Go tell Bandai Namco that," so the fault is obviously with the publisher in this regard. I also think that Asura's Wrath's poor sales figures and the BS way Capcom handled the DLC for that game soured the company on working with other publishers. I'm happy their taking matters into their own hands and self publishing games like Fuga instead of relying on a bigger publisher. They might be more budget titles but they've got a lot of heart behind them and if they can keep up the quality it'll be worth looking forward to their next original IP.
@@jamescarter6468 I haven't played an Armored core game yet, but I would like them to do another one or a spiritual successor, much like they did a spiritual successor to Tenchu with Sekiro, after they release Eldin Ring. I also would like to see a sequel or spiritual successor to Lost Kingdoms as the action RPG card combat was very unique in that series, definitely way better than how Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories handled it. I can just imagine summoning monsters with an updated card combat system with the current visual style of From Software for a game like that and having a lot of fun with it. Also I think the reason why both CyberConnect2 and From Software are kind of type cast developers is thanks to Bandai Namco's influence. They only pay for what is popular and don't let the developers branch out as much. I think this is why From went to Activision for Sekiro and why CC2 is trying to self publish. I hope they can both branch out more and do some more interesting stuff outside of what they're known for.
My first thought at seeing just the thumbnail was "wait, this looks like Solatorobo," which led to an immediate rush of nostalgia and a quick google search, leading to learning that this is from the same series. I haven't even started the video proper yet, but am already thankful to learn that this game exists, I really adored Solatorobo on the DS when I was younger and that game's soundtrack was absolutely stellar. High hopes for Fuga and the video. Probably going to add notes to this comment later once I've seen the video, I just really needed to gush for a minute since I have fond memories of one of the entries in this series. POST-VIEWING ADDENDUM: Yeah, I think I'll make Fuga my last game to pick up for the year, SMTV is gonna eat up a lot of my time and I've been looking forward to going through Metroid Dread, but once those two are out of the way this'll definitely be the next game I pick up. I like the general setting and the music of the Little Tail Bronx games, and want to see this series continue. Also glad to see Clemps trucking on in his usual style, I've been a patron for a few years now and I'm honestly just happy to see a new video come out whenever it's nice and ready, the regular streams have also been fun to catch from time to time. You keep doing you Clemps!
I thought the same thing! Never played the game myself but I’ve seen screenshots and heard good things despite its niche following. Might give that game and this one a try eventually.
I really like how the game builds upon itself. Each fight you want to do the best you can so you can risk more dangerous paths for better rewards, while taking the safer path helps with recovering but has less rewards for permanent upgrades. Even the relationship levels are important for fighting better. It's impressive how it all comes together. I really hope to see more of this series, and that they get the success they deserve.
Was sold halfway through the video. I’m usually a “wait for a sale” kind of guy, especially having just got SMT V, but you beyond sold me. Jumped on tonight and bought it. The artistry and passion here is beyond evident and it looks like the exact kind of gameplay loop I’ve been missing in my life as of late.
This game looks so unique, from the kemono characters to the Advance Wars/Metal Slug aesthetic to the Valkyria Chronicles story beats to the streamlined RPG experience, its like it was made for me. I bought this game shortly after watching this review, I'm now on Chapter 3 and I absolutely love this to bits. Just like 13 Sentinels, this game needs more love!
I fucking loved Solatorobo, it's a goddamn CRIME how little marketing this new game has gotten, I nearly missed it!! I'm so hyped to dive into Fuga also, sorry to hear about the health struggles, man. the new videos sure do brighten up my day when I see them in my notifications, but I won't mind the slowdown in the slightest if it means you're making them from a healthy and safe place. here's hoping for a better morrow
I seriously hate that even though this game could get all the spotlight in the world, it will still be ignored or even rejected by most "because furries". The entire joke about hating furries spread beyond it's scope of a joke and made a genuine irrational hate towards people that like anthropomorphic animals and by extent anything that features it. Remember before the internet when everyone liked Loony Tunes? Well, that era is no more because people like to mimic each other. The worst part is that I'm not even a furry. I really don't get the appeal of antropomorphic animals other than looking cute but not to the point of obsession. However I sympathize with people that get attacked because of their hobbies.
Yeah, I agree. I'm not what you'd call a card-carrying furry, either (more like furry adjacent? At the very least animal anthropomorphism rarely bothers me any, so when it's applied to something I would otherwise like, I can still enjoy it.) So it makes me sad that a lot of the, often extreme, dislike for furries seems to have stemmed from the fandom being able to keep to the idea of "no throwing stones in glass houses" better than most "outcast" subcultures. Like they were already somewhat ostracized just for liking anthro stuff, but while groups of that type do tend to be more accepting of people that are rejected by the mainstream for other reasons, it doesn't happen to nearly as much a degree as you'd expect, or, at least, not as much as you'd hope. Just look at how gatekeepy most need groups can be. But furries seemed to take it to heart even more than most, so they accepted a lot more people with interest that most people would think of as "weird" or "gross" instead of rejecting them or trying to shame them into silence. So with a higher proportion of people with more extreme interests alongside an interest that a lot of people already found somewhat strange or uncomfortable, furries got an even worse rep. Especially since, for a long time, the first and only times a person was likely to encounter any one of a number of the more extremely niche kinks was amongst furries, since that was the only time and place those with said kinks were allowed to be open about them. So furries got heavily associated with weird kinks. Plus the fandom was heavily focused on making art, which is much easier for outsiders to encounter and appraise in large quantities, than, say, fanfic or fangames, and those outside looking in cared more about showing each other only the "worst" or "weirdest" examples to point and either laugh or stare aghast at. So furries became strawmen of themselves.
It's not that people hate furries. It's that furries made it sexual, and like even a sexuality. So it's hard to avoid the association. Though I've never liked talking animal media. Which is why I've been watching reviews for like over a year, switching it in and out of my wishlists. I don't know how much you can blame people for having awareness of furries. And associating furry characters with them. Though I don't even know how much it's true since there's still talking animal stuff around. Though this has a dozen other things working against it to make it niche. Not flaws, but niche.
All the CC2 anthro/tail games are so damn good and underrated.. I didn't even knew they released a new one until like a week ago? Their aesthetic are so on point
@Grima the Fell Dragon Sad thing, they just seem to lack budget for marketing (at least, as self publishers), they actually announced Fuga alongside two other games (not related to the Tail Bronx world, tho. Fully original IPs), which for a while got marketed as the "Trilogy of Revenge" due to their theming, though Fuga was the further in development, and even then got delayed. I haven't heard any news of the other titles since, and I was actually following them short after the announcement! To be honest, I barely got to be aware of Fuga being actually finish and ready to go to stores, just a few weeks before release.
This time they self-published, they really need to get a better grasp on marketing. They didn't even get a page on Steam until the week before release. That's something even indies figured out to do early and promote often.
If you play this game I really recommend playing it with French audio. It's actually the Japanese actors doing the french voices, but while keeping their japanese accent, so you end up with some kind of cute alternative french that is veeeeery charming and immersive.
The editing is so good, especially the little touches of humor. Never heard of the game before but Clemps did an excellent job of bringing it to my attention.
3:03 Don't worry Clemps just say furry, you don't need to be savvy on that part. We all love Robinhood and Zootopia here. Sidenote: kinda funny and surprisingly well sounding "Cainu" and "Felineko" is, as they're just Latin and Japanese smashed together.
I played Solatorobo: Red the Hunter back when in came out on the DS and fell in love with that game. So much, that I got into the .Hack games because I wanted more CC2 games. Can't believe this is a thing, and am so happy Daddy Clemps showed me to it
I remember hearing about this game a while back and it reminded me Bokurano. I'll have to look into this for the next time I'm interested in a more...potentially depressing experience.
@@Mir_Teiwaz I remember years ago i wrote on his Patreon feed that these games might really be up his alley. Got my copies of them on a flee market more than a decade after their release and fell in love with the soundtrack and characters
I was sent here by Sean Chiplock and I have one message: Boron is a god, I am his Acolyte, and y'all better worship him if y'all don't want to be tossed in the Soul Cannon /j But seriously, watching this game made me cry. I love it so much, and plan on buying it sometime. 10/10 Thank you SO MUCH for making a review
1:50 I knew this art was familiar! looking at the game, I immediatly recognised the Tail Concerto & Soloatorobo artstyle. I hugely enjoyed Solatorobo on Nintendo DS, so at first I thought it was some kind of "fan game", or love letter to the bronx franchise. Oh boy, I didn't even realised it was made by the same dev and canon to their universe. Thank you for bringing that up.
I'd say you and Sean Chiplock are some of the folks most responsible for spreading awareness of this game in the West (although there are Fuga fans all over the world, and the games have gotten especially popular in Russia since a guy named "Degrastream" played it). It's always a team effort, but… thanks, man. Really appreciate it. By the way, Fuga does indeed have an active community of fans. A lot more fan content has started to come out over the past year, more memes have begun to spread, every day at least *one* new Fuga-related video is posted on this site, and I know a few folks who are even putting together an English fandub of the game. It's a shame to me that CC2's marketing is… not that good. Come to think of it, the simple-yet-effective premise of "furry kids riding a tank fight a war" *does* sound like something you could get a lot of potential out of, right? Like, I dunno, Transformers or something.
Thank you for bringing attention to my favorite game of 2021. I played Solatorobo on its western release in 2011 and I immediately fell in love with the world, characters and incredible lore. Seeing a new game in the Little Tail Bronx series after ten years it's pretty much a dream come true, I was surprised by how amazing the entire experience of Fuga was and the true ending for fans of Solatorobo is quite a treat. It saddens me that this series seems to be cursed to have low sales, even though you can clearly see the team always puts their heart and soul in every single game of the series, I'm doing my best recommending this title to everyone because it's a crime a game this good to be so overlooked.
As somebody who has been a fan of the Little Tail Bronx series and finished all three games (Tail Concerto, Solatorobo and Fuga), thank you so much for making this video.
I'm so glad you're giving this game a lot more attention. The Little Tail Bronx series really needs more love than it gets. Solatorobo was such a good game and while Fuga is a much more linear experience by comparison I think they did an amazing job with this game's concept. The combat reminded me a lot of Grandia and has quite a bit of depth for how simple it looks on the surface. I hope the next game in the series isn't another 10 years down the road and maybe they will consider remaking Solatorobo for modern systems since it's one of the rarer DS games.
2021 has been a really messy year in general, so please don't worry about needing more time to work on new videos. Always nice to hear you talk about what you wanna talk about
last month I finally played Fuga 1 and 2. Bought them when they where on sale and it was the best story and time of my life. I loved the game so much I do want to look into Solatorobo and the other game's lore to see where the story is going. I cried, laughed, and felt such a strong connection to the characters that I can't wait for the final game to be made, and my doggy hands to experience the pain all over again. I have your video to think for that, cause I did want to play it sooner but money was tight for one reason or another. But I always come back to this video to get a good laugh about the game. And after I played it I agree with all your points. Wish more people played it. CC2 always have banger games. Also something i want to say. I reset my game in a spot I will never do again. I reset it during the exploration ruins. I was near the end of the game and because I did that it got me to chapter 8. I learned my lesson and never doing that again.
Glad to see some coverture for this game! Solatorobo before it was already one of my personal favorites back in the day, and though Fuga is a very different experience (both in genre and tone), it was a delight to visit this world a second time. The game is fairly simple, yet very effective and fun for any lover of turn based games. My only nitpick is how much it ask to 100%, or even just to get all the special events between characters, but that's a very small nitpick. Great video!
17:28 considering you cannot replay sections and it's possible to screw yourself over(along with not getting the true ending if you sacrifice ANYONE to the Soul Cannon) that's the POINT. So you can, inevitably get the true ending of the game no matter which path of upgrades you pursue.
That is literally ALL I wanted from this, this game looks fantastic but the thought of being required to sacrifice anybody, especially *children* to complete the game definitely feels upsetting.
I feel like they could have shortened the game somehow then? It may be too much work, but if you just want to give people extra lore and the good ending, making them grind through the whole game seems a bit much.
@@whotookmypuddingcup4131 "The games easy if you don't fuck it up" dosen't..really sound like it's an admission of difficulty but of the players personal intelligence. Not saying that's what your doing, just an observation

I can't afford to buy this at the moment, but I guarantee that as soon as I can I'll be checking this out! Fantastic review Clemps, and thank you for getting the word out about this game (and in fact the series as a whole. Hadn't heard of it til now)
Omg this came out on my birthday!! Thanks for the present, Clemps! My boyfriend and I have been enjoying the hell out of your drakengard series lately!!!
Thank you for bringing this game to my attention, I loved it so much. Just finished 100%ing it last night. Extra thanks to showing those shorts at the end, those were so good to watch, especially after playing through the game myself.
I regularly rewatch your Drakengard/Nier playlist about 3 times a year. It is still amazing and I was very happy to see this new upload. Get well soon, best wishes from Germany!
Thanks for bringing some light into the game. The Kemono artstyle might have pulled me in, I stayed for the charming characters, the story and the music. I hope people will give it the chance it deserves.
Got a little behind on your past few videos but finally catching up. Once again, top notching editing. You have a great talent for it. And youre not kidding. The ost is quite good!
I haven't finished the game yet, but from what I've played of it, I really like it. I played Solatarobo, and felt stupid for underestimating the title. I picked it up on a whim during my military career because I kept seeing it in various gamestops, and the game was so damn good. I want this series to keep going, and I do lives me so CC2 content.
okay I've not beat this game yet, so I'm not watching the video right now. just want to say I'm loving this game and I'm very happy you're reviewing it. I'll be back once I beat it.
At 15:20 Fuga 2 actually fixes this and let's you check the tank's status and needs while in the shop. I'm starting to count up to 4 quality of life improvements the sequel gives you. I still only played the sequel because it was free on GamePass for at least 4 more days before expiration by the time it told me. And yes, I beat it while it was free just barely in time lol.

Glad I follow you on Twitter Clemps because this video didn't show up in my "To-watch" list. I'm really glad you showcased this game Clemps! I've known about this for a while and really wanted to pick it up. The only thing that has stopped me is that I don't really want to see the kids hurt :( I'll pick this game up in the near future and probably have to get past the tutorial stuff (although, NG+ does make me pretty interested).
Cool, gonna have to pick this up. I was digging it, but the choir changing along with the voice language is an amazing touch. I really really like this soundtrack, and honestly this really reminds me of Banner Saga
Boy I remember hearing about this when it was announced, being really excited, and not hearing a single thing since until this video. Didn’t even know it came out.

Plus it canonically make sense since Solatorobo also has French quips spoken by Japanese VAs.
@@heardofrvbAnd it was glorious
That is actually very interesting lol
Im french and Ill follow your advice
This game always seemed like the sort that would make me cry like a small child.
"children losing their innocence in the perils of war" will do that
It was really awesome to see another entry in the little tail Bronx franchise after almost a decade, definitely will purchase it whenever I can.
The editing is so good, especially the little touches of humor. Never heard of the game before but Clemps did an excellent job of bringing it to my attention.
SEQUEL CONFIRMEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
3:03 Don't worry Clemps just say furry, you don't need to be savvy on that part. We all love Robinhood and Zootopia here.
Sidenote: kinda funny and surprisingly well sounding "Cainu" and "Felineko" is, as they're just Latin and Japanese smashed together.
And the Japanese is just "inuhito". Dog Person.
I played Solatorobo: Red the Hunter back when in came out on the DS and fell in love with that game. So much, that I got into the .Hack games because I wanted more CC2 games. Can't believe this is a thing, and am so happy Daddy Clemps showed me to it
FUGA: Melodies of steel 2 is coming out soon, by the way :)
I remember hearing about this game a while back and it reminded me Bokurano. I'll have to look into this for the next time I'm interested in a more...potentially depressing experience.
I immediately searched the comments after seeing the "twist" to see if someone mentioned it!
I really hope it's not as depresisng as Bokurano tho haha
Wow a Ar Tonelico pfp! Another game nobody ever talks about haha
@@tj8815 I'm surprised Clemps hasn't tried them, since he likes Gust games so much.
@@Mir_Teiwaz I remember years ago i wrote on his Patreon feed that these games might really be up his alley. Got my copies of them on a flee market more than a decade after their release and fell in love with the soundtrack and characters
I was sent here by Sean Chiplock and I have one message: Boron is a god, I am his Acolyte, and y'all better worship him if y'all don't want to be tossed in the Soul Cannon /j
But seriously, watching this game made me cry.
Fuga 2 has been announced!!!
CC2 makes incredible ost for games, and i DEF fell in love with Fuga's music, melancholic yet beautiful
There's a game where a ragtag group of furry children fight fascism in a giant tank and the world needs to know about it!
Well, that tutorial section in the beginning makes me already want to play the game.
Seems hella neat story wise!
I'd never heard of these games before now. Definitely going to check out this one. Thanks so much for putting a spotlight on it!
@@Healermain15 the games actually pretty easy if you're able to manage your resources correctly.
@@whotookmypuddingcup4131 "The games easy if you don't fuck it up" dosen't..really sound like it's an admission of difficulty but of the players personal intelligence. Not saying that's what your doing, just an observation
@@ariannadravis3934 to be fair, it isn't hard even then, but I *am* playing on new game plus rn because SOMEONE decided to- *censored due to spoilers and language not suitable for a youtube comment section*
But uh sorry bout that :(
Though I haven't been watching your streams when they come up, the way you talked about Fuga was so genuine and that got me curious about it. I'm gonna add this to my games to play list now.
Ended up getting this from this recommendation. Thanks so much, it's really great!
Every time I hear the word "two" I can't help but hear it in Axel's voice... I'm glad Clemps does too.
Great video dude! I just finished Voice of Cards and I know what my next game'll be now
Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I was a huge fan of Solatorobo and didn't even know this game existed. I would have missed it entirely
So good to see another video from you! I was hoping you'd review Fuga!
SolatoRobo and tail concerto hold a very special place in my heart and Fuga coming out felt like a dream, real happy you covered it
"Children piloting giant war machine and are sacrificed as a fuel source" - sounds like Bokurano in gaming form...
Oh my God you're right now we just need shadowstar nataru as a game
I can't afford to buy this at the moment, but I guarantee that as soon as I can I'll be checking this out! Fantastic review Clemps, and thank you for getting the word out about this game (and in fact the series as a whole. Hadn't heard of it til now)
well, so it's gundam with cute critters, and some darkest dungeon tossed into it? I'M ALL IN!
Thank you for covering this Clemps. Hopefully this reaches out to people and gets the love it deserves.
No worries with the frequency. Every new clemps video gets me excited no matter the time between.
I predicted the Bokurano plot twist as soon as I saw the big fuck-off tank.
This is one of my favorite UA-cam channels. You're the best kind of UA-camr
Boron is the best character, No one can argue with that
God I miss .Hack// games....
I wish it was so much more popular (-More so than freaking SAO-)
Was literally just thinking about finishing one of your more recent reviews, and here you are with a new vid. Sweet.
Nothing brings a smile to my face quite like seeing a Clemps video in my subscriptions :)
okay I've not beat this game yet, so I'm not watching the video right now. just want to say I'm loving this game and I'm very happy you're reviewing it.
A problem about that spoiler timestamp: you briefly summarize the spoiler immediately after it.
The first spoiler timestamp, that is.
How did I miss that every single time? ;_;
I'm real sorry! I'll add a corrected version in the pinned comment!
@@Clemps No worries, the spoiler didnt' bother me b/c I already knew. Just wanted to get out ahead of it for those it will matter to!
@@jmporkbob I actually went into the YT editor to remove that bit :) people skipping ahead later will go slightly further ahead, but its better than the alternative! Thanks again for bringing it to my attention!
@@Clemps you da man!
Never heard of the title before and you definitely managed to get me invested Clemps! Hope your doing well and take care 💪
I never would have checked this out on my own, but it looks really great. I dig it!
Couldn't recomend the game more. The first "fight"is breathtaking through presentation alone. Great music and voice acting for real.
Also, play Solatorobo if you can.
Been debating for a good while whether or not I should buy this game. And this review is the perfect thing to tip me to buy it!
FINALY this game gets some expossure, Thank you Clemps
Glad I follow you on Twitter Clemps because this video didn't show up in my "To-watch" list.
Great video, I still can't forget my time playing Sola-to-robo, I'm really happy to see CC2 haven't given up on the series and I'm definitely gonna pick this up even though it's not my usual preferred genre of game.
FInally! A good review of FUGA, I'm sharing this with all my friends, guys give fuga a try! Its great. While you're at it try your hand at sola to robo too.
Boron is the best character and no one can change my mind, he is too pure for this world.
No never seen or heard of this but IMMEDIATELY catches my attention from you showing like 10 seconds of it. Time to play it before I even watch this video.
Oh my God yes a new Clemps video! I could listen to you talk forever you beautiful man!
the artstyle reminds me of what I liked about Metal Slug
You can't keep hitting me with these fantastic recommendations Clemps, my backburner is already full!
I seen art from this game on Twitter and fell in love with this world, I'm glad its something they believe in and want to keep doing. I hope they reach the success they deserve
Thank you Clemps for this review, because of that I just bought this game on my switch :)
Loved Solatorobo, gotta check this one out. Thanks for shining some light on this, looks so nice!
FINNALLY someone talking about Fuga! and also a new video from Mr. Clemps
Thank you very much for this recommendation! I had this game on my radar a while ago and now I am very happy to find it on Steam. Great video as always, Clempsy!
Really like the Metal Slug vehicle style but the whole child soldier/weaponizing souls is pretty messed up.
I really want to play this, I already have this on my wishlist because I was a fan of Solatorobo.
im so happy you made this video, I really want to buy this game now!
The setting reminds me a lot of the Utawarerumono series' setting. And that's one of my favorite stories, so I might go and pick this game up.
Thank you for giving attention to one of my personal favorites this year! ^_^
Always happy to see a new clemps video. Also since it was briefly shown how's voice of cards?
This is a surprise! I'm in the middle of my second playthrough. This game definitely deserves more attention
Thank you for introducing both myself and a friend to this game. Ironically we both saw your review separately.
I was pretty curious about this game, thanks for the vid mate. Pray you get well soon. Praise the Sun
Cool, gonna have to pick this up. I was digging it, but the choir changing along with the voice language is an amazing touch. I really really like this soundtrack, and honestly this really reminds me of Banner Saga
Welp, I know what I am adding to my Christmas list this year. Thanks for the recommendation, the game looks amazing!
14:40 "That's XCOM baby!" but furry
Boy I remember hearing about this when it was announced, being really excited, and not hearing a single thing since until this video. Didn’t even know it came out.
today we have been blessed with new clemps and i can FEEL my serotonin production working again ♥️♥️♥️
New Clemps content is a blessed day. Still waiting for thoughts on nier reincarnation though
Are you in my head Clemps? I was looking you up not 2 hours ago, worried because I hadn't seen any of your stuff lately and that I must have missed it!
So happy to see this video! Fuga is a beautiful game. The entire Little Tail Bronx series is so full of soul and love. So many fond memories, and hopefully so many more to be made! ♥ Just happy to see you talking about it!
Really good review! Very cool that you got to talk to the director too! Been interested in this game since it first came out, sadly it got trapped between bigger, beefier releases. Hopefully I'll be able to afford it soon. Anyway, thanks for the video Clemps, all the best!
As a massive fan of the little tail bronx series, i was SO excited to see you post this~ great work as always! If you loved fuga, you would ADORE Solatorobo. Can't reccomend it enough.
I need to play all the rest now. Fuga was a fun way to be reintroduced to the story after leaving off at Tail Concerto when it first launched. Gonna have to either hit my retro game shop or do some lurking about online. Thank you for covering the game, Clempsy
Clemps reviewed FUGA!? I am soooooo happy. I hope Clemps does more of the Little Tail Bronx series.
It's ok Climps take as much time as you need, it's always a treat when you upload.
