What an extraordinary talent.....this is supernatural.....just the footwork alone.
I love Casavant organs , they are made in Canada and have a wonderful French accent . I've Played the Casavant organ in the chapel Joseph Smith building located in Salt Lake City Utah. It's a two manual and has just over 2,600 pipes.
This version he plays with exquisite skill and incomparable technique is comfortable to the ears
I hear this every time my parrot takes off flying around our house. Sometimes he does flybys and I laugh out loud
And then he becomes a stuka when he divebombs guests lol
Does he come low out of the rising sun and about a mile out put on the music!?
I have heard this organ in person and I would have loved to hear this live. You used this instrument showing off the magnificence of this Casavant gem. Stupendous arrangement. The Gods must have been looking down and smiling at you!!! BRAVO!!!!
This organ design is beautiful in its simplicity and the sound. OMG heavenly !
Anyone else pretending the keys of the computer keyboard are the keys of this organ while this plays? Amazing arrangement! one of my all time favourites. Thank you.
I 1000000% adore this song because there is chamades playing on the organ to make the song more better
and interesting.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This organ sounds fantastic... also thanks to the acoustics of the environment..
My goodness what acoustical excellence!
We put this on when we attack coming out of the sun in the morning. Scares the hell out of Charlie.
Almost nothing rivals this composition! Richard Wagner knew what he was doing!
Extra delightful for me, that it was played on a local organ. Would have been even better if there were video of him actually playing it.
This is like the 9th time I've listened to this. I believe it is better than the original. The bring in the Valkrie. Wonderful………… work!!!!!!!!! OUT STANDING !!!!! CVD
I was very pleasantly surprised by the pedal notes at 4:30! Beautifully arranged, performed, and recorded!
Superb arrangement. The way the stops voice the orchestral partition is remarkable. It is not without a certain irony that this pagan Teutonic piece is played in a Christian church.
One of my favorite organ installations!!!! Simply thrilling! I got goose bumps!
This exact arrangement is what I listen to during take-off on commercial flights. I always take my noise cancelling headphones and MP3 player aboard all commercial flights and this is the song in cue on every single take-off. After this song I have several pieces of classical music in cue that play through the climb and into cruise altitude. Usually by this time the flight attendant is asking me what drink I'd like and then turn off player until landing phase. The effect is awesome.
This has gotta get played on the world's largest pipe organ, the Midmer-Losh in Atlantic City, NJ. Just imagine the main melody on the two loudest operational organ stops in the world, the Grand Ophicleide and Tuba Imperial.
This organ was originally built for Phillips Academy in Andover Massachusetts by Casavant in 1927 opus number 1127. It stood in the George Washington Auditorium until the Cochran chapel was completed. It was moved into the chapel, for which it was originally designed and remained there until 1979 when it was removed and stored (abandoned ) in a barn. The remains of the organ was salvaged and rebuilt by the Schantz organ company in 2001/2002 (See their opus list) and installed in St. Andrewswhere it presently stands. All the original chests, reservoirs and console were destroyed including a huge 32' wood open Diapason, by water leaking through the barn roof. The Diapason was cut up for lumber and replaced by a Haskell style 32'.
+robert shaw Doh! Casavant organs are like gold!
Organs ARE gold.
Thank you for this sad history lesson. As our society further deteriorates, stories like this among our once-hallowed halls of learning are all too common. The mismanagement, waste & destruction of our artistic heritage as you describe are profane and should be punishable.

Magnificent. What a beautiful sound this beautiful Art Deco organ has, as crisp and clear as mountain air. Really enjoyed this.
What a magnificent instrument !!!
Absolutely amazing !!! You have used technology to create something never before heard by human ears !! I feel privileged to live in an age where human creativity can innovate and produce new sounds that give new insights and perspectives to old works. Hats off and salutes to you!!!! More More More....
Fantastic and beautiful !
The sound of this instrument is just amazing. The intonation is remarkable! The reeds are very clear and strong. Despite that the remainder of the registration is not drowned. Seems to be a lovely instrument to play with ... Take care of it! ;-)
the best version of this . Organ sounds like a dream.
Absolutely magnificent! Bravo!
Thank you Sir! Beautiful. I admire your drive and detemination to give your skills to the world. Play on!
Brilliant performer who died way too early; we are fortunate that Josh left us many superb examples of his ART! RIP!
If ever I want to get the thrills (spine tingling thrills) all's I to do is listen to you playing this piece. It happens every time. Can't get over the bio-electric radiations coming from you and this great organ… at the moment of you playing this great work. WoW? Love it. CVD
Gave me chills @ 3:29. Outstanding accomplishment!
One of the best trumpets here on youtube 😳🏆
Such an amazing thing. What I wouldn't give to just see one in person and hear someone play. I can not imagine what it took to restore this organ but what a beauty. Great Job!!!!
Josh Pershbacher, you are a genius!
The Casavant!!!!!! Mercy! Josh really exposes the reeds(trumpets, bombard,et al) in this arrangement!
Casavant was a fine one, this organ is fabulous doing the amazing task of one whole orchestra.
Josh, thanks so much for sharing these absolutely fabulous pipe organ recordings!
WONDERFUL!!! I am truely amazed by this version!!!
I think that the first time that I ever heard this piece was when I was little girl watching a Looney Tunes episode with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck being chased by Elmer Fudd. I didn't know what it was called until more recently. I love The Ride of the Valkyries! I will forever be reminded of a wild, heroic, and fast paced chase whenever I hear it!
hah, every time I hear this, I also think "Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit".
gadget73 neah whats up doc ?
was answering the comment above mine....
hah, every time I hear this, I also think "Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit....lol
Schoolgirl325 I always picture a U-Boat fighting 40 footers in the North Atlantic.......
'someday this war's gonna end......'
Great arrangement, Josh!
+Dylan Frye I picture the Illinois Nazis plunging over Chicago in the Blues Brothers..."I've always loved you..."
You can't tell me that Ernest Skinner wouldn't have thought that this was the greatest thing ever . .
Very nicely done.
One of my favs - first time I've heard it played on pipe organ. Awesome arrangement and voicing.
Just beautiful!!!!!!!!
Absolutely amazing piece. He truly was a pioneer in pushing organs to their limits with midi
I still love listening to this CD Josh...
Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing your amazing musical talent.
Just FABULOUS!! The sounds, the playing, the recording. PERFECT! This is really thrilling. Great arrangement.
What a wonderful arrangement. Masterfully done. Brava
andrew j wolf You're on every organ video I watch...
Omg
oog... three days later and I STILL have nice hard goose bumps!! Now if I can just combine the sound of rotors to this, and the smell of napalm, it'll feel like the finger of God is descending!
Well done! Glad you had the chance to enjoy my brother's "baby" :) (I'm Bill's sister.) I wish I lived in the Twin Cities so I could hear him play this extraordinary instrument more often!
This is simply majestic!
that organ is just unbelievable
This is crazy!!!!! Awesome!
Absolutely phenominal!
Magnifical, and superb, great job
The player is a real master!
Um desempenho de altissima qualidade que é raro ver-se por aqui( só lixo ) O meu aplauso do tamanho do mundo! Parabéns
Awesome! I am American but you have gotten my German blood stirring!!
Very very beautiful trumpet!
Superlative arrangement, exquisite musical performance.
am taken away by it's grandeur.... my goodness.... beyond words....
Mind bendingly awesome!!
Now *this* is damn clever! Well executed.
Wow! Congratulations! It's so much more true to the score than Lemare. Love it! As a teen, I transcribed excerpts from Walkure for my senior organ recital. Thanks!
Sounds mighty. I’m all goosebumps.
This is one of the best versions ive heard.........
Wow, what a amazing instrument.
simply fantastic and overwhelming, my sincere compliments, can´t wait for the next wagner transcript!!!
Boy, This is some awesome organ!! Would love to be able to play like that!
Gefällt mir sehr gut. Die Stimmung ist fast so wie in der Oper.
I heard a recording of this on the John Hayes Hammond organ (his name, not the B3!) by Richard Ellsasser. Have finally found an instrument with the clarity needed for this piece. Well played on a brilliantly redone Casavant.
Very nice arrangement/rendition... and for such a complex orchestration that Wagner conjured, your adaptation of the voices, registrations and execution are all quite remarkable... hence my remark :-)
Thanks for sharing, Josh.
Yeah . Thanks Josh . That church's architecture to great !
¡Impresionante, una maravilla. Gracias!!!
Magnifique!!! Thank you so much for this video
Raramente si può sentire una interpretazione così stupenda di questa splendida composizione del grande Wagner.
Che bello ascoltare un simile interprete!
Bravissimo! *******
Awesome! Best organ interpretation of this wild piece I've ever heard. Loved it...and I'm not an organist but afficionado. You kill, JOSH!
Ansolutely thrilling and entirely convincing: this enormous instrument becomes agile and crisp - so often one gets 'mud' from other organists and their transcriptions! - magnificent. Quintessential perfection in transcribing a full romantic orchestral score to the King of Instruments!
The audio on this video is incredible!! Run the audio/phones output of your computer into the aux input of your stereo receiver or amplifier and crank it up! You'll need an extremely good system to do this justice! If not listen to this video through a good set of headphones.
On organ it sounds like a soothing song.
Excellent transcription, masterly played!
Thanks for sharing this excellent arrangement!
An entire orchestra in a single instrument!
Napalm and coffee in the morning...
AHHA! this guy!
It really feels like the original orchestral version. nice arrangement for the organ. It's AWESOME!!!
The only thing that could have made this any better is if there'd been some footage of him playing the piece :D
Problem is that playing this in one sitting is impossible unless you had three hands. It uses Midi in the arrangement.
He explains what he does and how he does it on his website! The link is in the video description. If I remember correctly, he doesn't even play the organ.
***** Alright then footage of *someone* playing it
Computer is playing the organ, as mentioned above, via MIDI (musical instrument digital interface). It would take at least two (and more likely three) organists to cover everthing that's being played here.
@Dinkelstein Kerman There are far more discrete notes being played at any instant than twelve digits and two feet permit. It's a faithful transcription of the complex orchestral score which has relatively little unison playing
perfect in every aspect
Excelente interpretação! Nota Máxima!
Excellent arrangement! Well done!
L'orgue est un instrument sensationnel !
Directional audio for a church organ recording is nice.
Todo en Grande, la obra, El órgano,el organista
Beautiful organ!
And music! ;)
reminds me of my urban commute
Wonderful music !
YES!
YES!
YES!
goosebumps man...
This music makes everything fun
fabuleux,cet instrument me rend dingue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Stirring" and "awesome" are entirely inadequate responses. I wish I was in the hall hearing it in person.
I don't care for the sound of this particular organ , but I totally agree that it would be an experience to hear a live performance of it .
This is absolutely glorious. The only thing I would wish for would be to be in that sanctuary when this is played, and hear it live in all its majesty. Beyond that I would be speechless.
If music be "food for thought", this would be the aural equivalent of a sinfully rich tiramisu...
