I love accidentally finding stuff like this, its like getting an unexpected Christmas present
Homie pulled up to the church, poured his heart and soul into playing that organ and just left like nothing happened. Amazing.
The angels loved every second of it.
Even just going in and playing music is worship. If it brings one joy it’s worship
When either one of the Scott brothers puts his hands on a piano or organ, us poor mortals are given a chance to experience Heaven on earth!!
Who's Homie?? This is a very skilled artist that knows what to do with this instrument. 👏
At least the church was good for something (have fun ;p)
This is what being an organ player is. We would live for this, we do live for this
The only thing missing is the tumultuous applause of the full house this performance so richly deserved.
I'm not really into organ arrangements of orchestral pieces, but yours are so damned good and so excellently played! These UA-cam concerts are a delight. Congratulations and thanks.
that and the cannons having a little more bass register to their sound like a high caliber cannon rather than sounding like silver fulminate snaps
I appreciate the raw organ rendition. All of the pyro is just fluff. Yes, I enjoy the cannons and fireworks; but the Overture stands alone.
This performance brought me to tears at the end... 😂
Played this on the TV through my home cinema system. One day I’ll play it really loud. Frightening. Only just discovered these brothers. Already a huge fan!
Just played this and my muslim neighbor already uneasy to hear this.
@@augustaverbian 💀💀💀💀
That is the best solo performance of 1812 that I've heard. It brought me to tears. Amazing!
1812, one of my favourites from Tchaikovsky!
The Scott brothers are a class act! Beautiful music!
Never heard this on an organ before. BRAVO!
Oh, to be in that church and hear that organ an those bells! Who dislikes this?
THAT WAS ABSOUTELY THE MOST AMAZING PIECE OF WORK I'VE EVER HEARD! INCREDIBL;E PERFORMANCE!
Wow, hearing it on this organ gives it a whole new character.---I don't know how you guys did that, but you made ME jump!
Yea especially in the finale!
Probably to avoid the cannon balls flying over your head! Yes then better dive.
I am exhausted. What an incredible ride!! Applause, respect and a big, warm "Wow, that was excellent, eh!?" from 🇨🇦
No church was harmed in the making of movie
🤣
🤣🥳👏... Only enhanced in JOY!
🕍🎼🎹🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🧨⚡☺
... only a few eardrums. 🙂
Fantastic transcription! I'm amazed that Jonathon managed to walk down the aisle after playing that!!
I was enjoying the performance at full volume while I was sending emails and nearly keeled off my secretary chair when the cannons went off (didn't notice that in the title)
For one horrible moment I thought Mr. Scott had been assassinated by someone sent by Tsar Putin as punishment for the temerity of arranging the piece for organ.
Will listen again suitably immunized against heart attack!
The organ in Jon’s hands is truly the King of instruments
And the instrument of madmen
Year 2001, somewhere in Ohio, the 4-th of July open air concert... the Conductor announces: "Don't ask me why we perform Russian composer Piotr Tchaikovsky on the 4-th of July...I don't know why"... and the final (real) cannons mixed with thunderstorm, lightnings and heavy rain in the dark... everyone left totally wet and impressed.
(greetings from Russia)
War of 1812. We appropriated it, because of course we did.
@@felipevonkunstmann7090 cultural appropriation, exactly! ))
In memory of the fact that the US declared war on Great Britain in 1812 hoping to take advantage the British involvement in the Napoleonic War to take over Canada. Unfortunately for them they only managed to fight a losing draw that time as the Brits/Canadians pulled back after sacking Washington DC and burning down the White house and conquering the northern shore of Lake Erie almost to Detroit. The French were unable to come and help the US win unlike 35 years earlier.
@@bfcmikthat’s satisfying for me for some reason
@bfcmik Wrong. The US only wanted part of Canada and not very badly.
The US declared war on Great Britain to stop the Royal Navy kidnapping our merchant sailors at sea and forcing them to serve on their ships. That objective was achieved so we won.
Double standing ovation from me. Superb piece-excellent registrations-phenomenal use of manuals and pedal-camera angles were masterful. Left me speechless and appreciative. Thank you
This performance was magnificent. It brought tears to my eyes.
I just picked my jaw up off the floor, amazing.
The beginning of this song is always beautiful, but on the organ, tears filled my eyes. I have never heard this song played in such a unique way, and it is certainly one of the best I've heard. Your gift is beyond comprehension, you are a blessing on this earth.
Yes, the beginning sounds so powerful and emotional, just stunning!
Extraordinary execution, the arrangement was phenomenal! It was an enormous effort in all ways, but the results were without comparison. Even Napoleon would have liked.
Absolutely out of this world. An amazing performance and wonderful on headphones.
Incredible ! A battle-to-the-death between the organ and the cannons and bells raged in the concluding minutes ... I'm not certain which side won.
Saint Bede 🤗
We did. We won.
Both
Way back in the early 90s I was an artilleryman stationed at Ft Stewart GA, and my unit (A battery 13th field artillery) was “salute battery” for the 24th infantry division (mechanized.) The gun crews provided cannon fire from 75mm pack howitzers for military ceremonies, parades, and other functions, and in either 1991 or 92 they fired for the Savannah Symphony’s July 4th performance of the 1812 Overture. Looking back, I wish I’d been part of a gun crew at least once.
Man did the only thing he really could do after a solo performance of this entire song. get up and go home. walks outta there like "I know what I did"
Yeah, it's not bragging if you really can do it and no one else can!
@@phyzygy what an amazing performance....and you never made a mistake!!! (Only u would know). I wish I had adequate words to tell u how I felt when listening....and watching u perform.....with such ease, confidence, and professional. Thank u to both you and your brother for creating such a masterpiece....for ALL of us to enjoy. Where did you get your education... to play??
@@romabovard1137 Your comment was misdirected to me, a humble organist. It should have been to Jonathan Scott, the masterful performer here.
No song can bring as big a smile to my face as the 1812 Overture, and your renditions are the greatest I've ever heard! Thank you for continually inspiring me to keep playing the pipe organ; your arrangements are all beyond superb!
it's technically not a "song" it's a piece of music. songs have lyrics to them. this does not.
@@Daidan0 As a classically trained musician and professional pipe organist, I am well aware of the distinction. I just don't feel the need to nitpick my terminology when leaving a UA-cam comment.
@@secretforreddit was not aware of that. so I guess I'm in the wrong for assuming that you were like the usual sort of person who can't tell the difference between a piece of music and a song. so sorry for assuming.
The 2 dislikes are from Napoleon.
The dislikes are from Napoleon, Ney and Murat.
BAHAHAHAAH!!
The dislikes now reach the count of the Grande Armée survivors following the 1812 campain.
Tchaikovski had some French ancestry, unlike Napoleon , haha
@@MrRavenski23 Ouch
Every one of this man's videos leave me speechless. To the videographer, thank you for showing more of his footwork in this video then you have in others. His footwork is every bit as amazing as his nimble fingers!!
Back in 2005 I was the bass trombonist in the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, we played the 1812 Overture side by side with the ASO, every time I hear this work it brings back such vivid memories of that amazing performance. Hearing it on organ is absolutely amazing, I had chills from the 15 minute mark to the end. Incredible!!
I can beat that (timewise). I played the 1812 (unfortunately never in concert) with my High School Band (Ft. Lauderdale High, FLA) as bass drummer, bought a record on my way back to Germany in New York, have listened to various performances over the years (I’m 74 now) and today (03:27 before retiering) for the first time on an organ. Thank you for the amazing experience.
Amazing performance. This piece has to be one of the top ten songs to be played on the Midmer-Losh in Atlantic City once it's fully restored.
The fact that one person can make this music by himself is truly awe-inspiring.
Prior to electricity there needed to be like, 12 people manning the bellows, but, other than that...
Eine phantastische Interpretation der Ouvertüre 1812. Einfach klasse.
👍👍👍👏👏👏❣
Bist du Schweizer?
The climax brought goose-bumps! Excellent registration. Performance, and videography! I loved it!
Solemne música, solemne interpretación. Gracias, admirable Jonathan. ( Juventino Flores, Córdoba, Veracruz, MÉXICO).
WOW! I've always loved organ music!! When I came upon the Scott brothers organ music a few months ago, I fell in love with their organ music and playing this wonderful instrument!! Thank you!!🎼🎵🎶🎹🥰💕🧡🧡
You guys... Such amazing playing and such a full arrangement. Your gifts are beyond description but felt to our souls. Thank you!
I, too, accidentally found this. Hallelujah! Just SPECTACULAR! I cried and cried. One of my favorites! Thank you! Priscilla
I'm still wondering how you got the howitzers inside the church :)
It's really quite simple, first you use the howitzers ON the church, then you can get them IN to the church.
Carefully. Very carefully.
They found some in a field and built the church around it
some of those pipes have three times the calibre of a howitzer
Absolutely phenominal Jonathan. Thanks for playing this piece. Quite a workout..
EPIC !! Worthy of an Oscar. So dramatic ! "Shot" on the last chord, too. But still bravely walked away !!
The finally sent tremors through me, a God given talent no less.
Absolutely fantastic!!!! Incredible talent. I thought someone would have to dig Jonathan out of the keyboard because he played with such passion and emotion. I’m gobsmacked!!
Then he walked out the door as if he was getting the bus home.......🤭🇬🇧
Stop colonising my phone with your British flag 😡
Wow! Bravo Jonathan. An absolutely amazing performance. Totally took my breath away.

Pretty much the only piece that calls for the 16' Bombardment and 32' Counter Bombardment stops!
Ummm... Bombarde stops should be used whenever possible. They're absolutely gorgeous!
@@jayjones3907 Not Bombarde. Bombardment. As in, artillery fire.
@@KingdaToro Yep, dad joke. :) Thanks, needed the laugh.
@Nathan Camilleri I mean, **it would be possible** to fit compressed air cannons inside an organ. That thing already has ll the machinery needed to make them work.

Absolutely brilliantly!! I am in awe of the skill and effort that must have been put into this arrangement. This is a classical piece that I have listened to so many times, and have been to a few performances thereof. But this must be the most incredible performance that I have ever heard. Bravo!!
I never such beautiful stained glass windows while enjoying such beautiful sounds.
Great piece, great performance rendered by a great organist at the king of instruments !!! Congrats, Prof. Jonathan Scott ! Marvelous ! JAL, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, South America
You know it's coming. You just KNOW it's coming. I'm an older contankerous curmudgeon. When it got here... my goosebumps had goosebumps! One finds one's self right in the middle of things with this man. This performance was the way this piece was meant to be played, and no other!
I just went up to play it again. As my cursor crossed the timeline, the sound level came up. Right around 12:45 it begins to take off.
I don't get to smile too often like this. One cannot be depressed after watching this!
Told my wife I wanted her ship my body to Albion Church, Ashton-under-Lyne, UK for my funeral, just so this organ can be masterfully played. She said she'll ship me over there but not gonna bring me back home. Huuumm, let me think.
…
The only solo instrument that can ever do this song justice. After affects fireworks were kind of corny, but the rest of the performance was spectacular 👏 👏 👏 👏
Wow, it literally brought me to tears because of how beautiful it is!
Absolutely gorgeous performance ever on the Organ recital

This is such an expirence to hear. And I one day hope to hear it in person because that would be a life altering moment
That was just beautiful. The way it sounds on an organ, made it just so so much more awesome.

Well done sir. The history of this piece of music fits perfectly with a church organ. Brilliant.
If this is to your liking there is another massively extravagant piece written for a celebration of a French loss in 1812.
Wellington's Victory by Beethoven.
As written it has an expanded orchestra, two brass bands, cannon and muskets. If you listen with headphones it starts with a drummer marching in one ear and out the other.
Fantastic !
Amazing!
