- Опубліковано 4 лип 2024
- A special post-election episode of #NCFNewspeak as NCF Director Peter Whittle and Amy Gallagher of Stand up to Woke are joined by NCF Fellow Emma Webb and special guest Dr. David Starkey. The panel analyze the election results in their broader context: what can we expect from a supermajority Labour government? What is the future for the right in Britain? Will the Conservatives seize this opportunity to become truly conservative or veer towards the wets? What lies ahead for Reform now that Nigel Farage is finally in Westminster but with only 4 seats for Reform?

@lloydjones7925 The problem isn't the First Past The Post system, it is political parties themselves. Remove political parties, and you have independent MPs - just as the whole system was designed for. The creation of the political party system in the 1860s was a terrible disaster that undermines everything, and destroys the check and balance system. The Commons has far too much power, and the party system is a key element to that.

Wrong. The defunct Faketory party is taking up the space for an actual conservative party. So, step 1: help remove them as a viable government. Step 2: Over the next parliament, replace the Fakes in the public mind as a possible alternative to Loony Leftyism. Step 3: Replace the inevitably disasterous Labour government in 2029. Good point. The weak spot in any Identity Politics (in democracies) is always their failure to speak to the majority. They only achieve that through authoritarianism and affording themselves special status, or burdening others with imagined privilege. The answer seems to be to look back 30 or 40 years when our democracy was a bit stronger, or at least more representative. Our society was less divided racially, and people weren't anti-trans.

I love him
Yep! He’s brilliant!
Britain, do not be defeatist!! Any attempt to erode democracy must be vociferously opposed by the People! Never Surrender! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Vociferous opposition should have been demonstrated a decades ago. There doesn't seem to be stomach in England for it. Maybe it is too late now?
I think David Starkey thinks the British are like they were in the past being patriotic but now we have a world of he, she, cis, they, them etc. god help us
King Charles is head of state, need to make the king more prominent to bring back patriotism. The Royal Family are the greatest head of states in the world, why are PMs acting as anything more than executives and legislators selected by the people. I’d trust the King over Starmer.
“Don’t have a mandate”? I am not sure the Labour Party care about niceties like mandates. The Bolsheviks did ghastly things even though they were the minority.
The Labour Party have the MPs and in sufficient numbers to do what they like. And I think they will.
Any majority "should" be irrelevant if each MP was allowed to vote on any policy put forth in the commons as to how their constituents desire, not having to tow the party line.
They can try but one thing they cannot do is alter our constitution in any way shape or form. The Tories and Labour have both tried it in the past and come unstuck. Shamer will be no exception.
@@simonmorris9877 If in Labour area tell them, they're not allowed to vote for these changes
No, they don't care about being elected by a small minority of Brits, but the fact they lie so obviously is hugely concerning.
Starmer explicitly claimed that the British people had given him a 'clear mandate' to do what he likes, when that's a flat-out lie, and the public know it - 34% is far from a 'clear mandate'
I don't know if Britain has seen a more manipulative, dishonest PM. His MO seems to be to pretend that up is down and down is up, and try to shame and/or punish those who refuse to bow to the lie.
I hardly think that the labour party are half as left wing as thr tory party thinks they are or they would have won a bigger majority ,seriously o don't blame Distington for resigning as most of the party are unmanageable lunatics
English constitution is made by us to defend against government overreach. They may not make such law. They only make statutes, which are rules for commerce. The men and women have primary sovereignty, don't we? Who created government? Oh yes, us. Who elects them? Oh yes, us. We have God given, inalienable rights, which must not be trespassed against. Every one of those statutes that do that must be nullified.
And yet the permanent bureaucracy has been running roughshod on your rights for decades. Now it will do so with total impunity.
If a law is fallacious it can be ignored. It is a duty. Trans laws are such.
Our constitution is unwritten and flexible. You read as if American and their written inflexible centuries outdated constitution ties them in terrible knots and is the root of their present parlous political situation.
Starmer told us what he intends in one of the last lines on his speech: "Tread more lightly on your lives…" This new government will certainly be treading on our lives, just not lightly.
For those who can’t be bothered to vote can’t complain about the Government.
God help us with Sir Kermit Stalin in charge.
The Stalin thing cracks me up
They will kick him out and replace him with a 'piece of work' like Corbyn
@@glennpower5441 Why would they do that?
@@georgerj2419 watch this space
@@glennpower5441 He is move left wing than Corbyn.
Keir Starmer needed an act of parliament to secure his own monstrous pension arrangements yet he is coming after pensioners bus passes as he nationalises the bus companies. As if that's not enough he will means test our OAP pensions which we have worked over 40 years full time to earn and scrimp along.
start food prepping now!
Don't forget school children whose Parents work hard NOT All of them are Rich Quite a few work All hoursvand go with out to give their child a good education as well I've Never feared a labour government as this one!! wait until all the secrets come out mind you they get away with it All the time as there's that much going on amongst them they guard their secrets well and now how to wriggle out of trouble
@@soniahesketh3565 One word - Rayner.
When he starts attacking old people's pensions there will be a lot of anger in the streets!
@@Chirimbolos88 there is NO money LEFT for their plans!! He will have to go for your savings, nest eggs, properties, pensions, anything you have he will take it
Its all well and good Starmer talking about "respect" when referring to Islam and trans, but those groups must also respect people outside of those said groups.
They NEVER will 🛑
The main issue with Labour, is they have the view that if you work hard all your life and make some savings for retirement and old age, those savings are theirs and should be given to people who haven't worked or lived here at all.
Only fools vote for that!
Great to see Emma back!
I am Reform UK through and through but we didn’t have a Reform candidate to vote for!
We're in the uk are you
luckily i did but Labour won. My Dad comes under Clacton so they got the result they wanted .
@@mayhorse66same here but I was happy to see penny mordaunt lose her seat.
Real pity.
This government will be a disaster. The next election room will be very interesting.
Instead of straight up PR, why not consider a preferential system like Australia where you can rank order your vote. This allows you to vote for smaller parties first, and if they’re not in the running, your second preference counts. Seems fairer
PR has been in vogue in NZ and it’s a disaster. Australian preferential system is certainly a better option.
Starmer lied in his first speech outside Downing Street, when he said he was a working man.
I know I near choked laughing at the tool 😂
Strictly white collar, giving orders to those who do "the heavy lifting".
Starmer's parents were a nurse and a toolmaker, both highly respectable positions. So, Starmer trained to be a professional lyer, sorry, lawyer, because he saw what hard work was & wanted nothing to do with it...
He was telling the truth when he said his dad was a toolmaker.
😂😂😂😂😂
Our constitution is based on the 1215 magna carta end of
usurped by the EU, once humbly known as the E E C
But!! Some foriengners and Looney lefties Don't like it!!
Most of the clauses in magna carta have long since been repealed
2 words to deal with all this legal democracy bollocks, "NO CONTRACT" ie fcuk off
Bill of rights 1689 “shall be the law of this realm for all time to come” starkey ignores this consistently because he’s a parliament is unrestricted shill. Read the bor yourself it says three times it can’t be changed
David Starkey nails it as usual.
I hate to say this but i think Labour will succeed in turning the country into their image. Massive respect to those willing to fight but its over.
No, we must fight for right. Never give up.
But , no matter, for all the remedies / antidotes to labour being discussed here, we are stuck with them, they have five years to utterly trash the Uk,
Trash the UK? You mean worse than it is RIGHT now? Cant really see how unless you mean reduce the number of entitled rich ponces sucking the life blood out of this country... does that mean you are one of those? No wonder you are scared!
Maybe he would like to, but don’t forget, he now has a very formidable MP in Parliament, who will not just stand by while Starmer tries to impose his ideals on the Country, that MP is Nigel Farage, and I predict he will be watching Starmer and his Labour Party like a Hawk, he will be all over Starmer like a rash, and rightly so, Nigel Loves this Country and if he feels something is not in the interests of this Country, he will speak out and defend it with vigour, no Starmer won’t just have a free hand in this Parliament!!
I agree. He will become the official opposition. The issue is this: How much will the media show this? If we end up like Scotland, where the Scottish media fed off the SNP tit - then not much at all. Remember who Murdoch backed before the election.
We shall see.
Unfortunately with a large majority Starmer can do pretty much whatever he likes.
starmer is identical to Jacinda Ardern one term then gone
Jacinta Arden went for popularity at any cost, wrecked the country, and fled to an Ivy League in the US of A in the middle of her term. NZ will take decades to pick up the pieces❗️
Could we keep David Starkey to programs where he is the only guest? I like his speeches, but he isn't a good participant in discussions. Amy and Emma produce a good discussion with Peter, but David dominates and curtails their points. They do remarkably well to cope with him, but I'd love to hear their points made fully without the incessant and irritating interruptions by David.
I suspect neither Amy or Emma would complain. They made their points well and succinctly, particularly Emma. It DS had not been part of the discussion, this - I suspect - would not have been so. I suspect that competing with Starkey is a good thing, rather than a bad thing, if it means that rambling digressions are kept to a minimum.
@@omblackwell1183 Could be, but I was frustrated by his continual interruptions when I wanted to hear their points developed. OTOH, rambling does describe some of his monologues. He does have some very interesting views, but always wants to be contentious.
@@Merlin3189 I take your point. Rather than being a constant ‘Dr. Johnson’ he might adopt a more Socratic method. His Ex Cathedra manner does a serious disservice to some of his more salient and incisive points, as does his snobbery over trifles.
David is an interesting guest but he needs to let others speak.
Dave prefers monologues: His monologues, obvs.
@@brianlopez8855 Also be more agreeable. He's mostly right but must cut some slack to differing views.
It's only because he has so much to say, and very few opportunities to say them.
He’s on another level
He used the word "reset" that was a huge red flag 😨
A COMMIE FLAG, TO BE SURE
Yeh, he was mocking us.
Yes. David Starkey seems to be unaware of the malevolent existence of the World Economic Forum (The Great Reset) and the United Nations (Sustainability Agenda 2030). The constant elephants in the room.
The damage done to this country, our children and our living standards since the late 80s is speedily becoming un-reversable. Its absolutely tragic and ive witnessed the change throughout every town and city over 62 years.
