The ones choosing to wear floor-length single-ply negligees and teddies garnished with massive tortured boas or long dragging strips of scarf for Red Carpet events probably take "tacky and tasteless" as a compliment.
I do think in the 90s it was scandalous enough to get press and likely helped their careers (rose McGowan, Elizabeth Hurley, JLo) Now, however (or me at least) it’s an eye roll.
oh good grief, putting a figure of Christ on a dress that you are dragging on the steps and for PR and merching? I'm not Christian and I'm offended! Maybe Cannes needs to have no red carpet at all or severely cut down the guest list.
I do not understand these celebrities - no dignity, grace, elegance, glamour any more and then displaying such poor behavior - what is wrong with these people?!!! Such entitlement!!!
LOL. I saw that drama around the long train with the Jesus-face at the Cannes steps. First, Jesus as a train: Tasteless in itself. Second, long train and taking up all the space: Silly. Third: Time to move on - and don't loose your cool.
I don't see any celebrities acting up on the stairs...just a bunch of me me me attention seeking narcissists. Feeling for the security people who were just trying to do their job and keep people moving.
But I feel it's not the "us" in mind when celebs are dressing. Is the competition so fierce that they will do anything, show anything, be "unforgettable" in any way, whether tasteless, classless, just plain ugly.
Whoever the weirdo was with the long train showing a pic of Jesus she's a great example of "hypocrite". Think of it - Jesus and his message of humility, sincerity and love and her conceit and self-centred, aggressive tantrum. shocking behaviour.
It shouldn't be too hard an exercise but I guess when one believes the sun rises and sets on their command it would make complete sense, sort of. Anyway, what a bunch of brats! (I'm keeping my language clean)
You know, I used to have fun looking at celebrity fashion. It was pretty, creative, lovely, fantasy. Is it just me or has all that prettiness, loveliness, creativity, fantasy just completely turned to nakedness, weirdness, shock, do-anything-to-be-different? I barely waste my time anymore as a "candy break" on celebrity award fashion. It's kind of hideous.
I totally agree with you! It seems like a one upsmanship competing with each other who can outdo you. True elegance and style where there were no nude dresses and most were couture and calm, no midriffs, no granny panties under the nude dress look. Leave some mystery rather than putting it all out there. 👍🏼
Sis, I agree... I used to watch all the red carpets just to see the dresses but that has become a thing of the past... It's all who can ridiculously show more skin... I just don't get it they are already famous and rich why demean themselves this way... The only thing I can say is they're given to reprobate minds...
The security guard was doing the right thing, I can’t believe the arrogance of these women who think the rules do not apply to them. Loved your analysis of the gowns. The naked look just cheapens the look of these gowns.
The behaviour on the stairs 😱😱😱🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. WOW what happened to the old school Hollywood glamour??? I have not watched an award show in 12-15 years. The fashion and clothing have become cheap looking , nudity not necessary …. Skin skin and more skin 🤦🏻♀️. I love when the class is in the house and old Hollywood glamour steps on the carpet ,
and that's why I love Beebs so much - always hits the point. Some of those ppl were nobodies and were so desperate for photographs, clowns keep moving. Security was doing the right thing.
Sigh. So much center-parted unadorned hair hanging down. So over it. Cannot wait til gorgeous sophisticated up-dos make a comeback on red carpets everywhere.❤😊🎉
The woman was doing the job she was paid to do . How arrogant do you need to be to ,after being told the rules, you think you are above them . As always Beebs your analysis was spot on❤❤❤
I didn't watch all the Celebs walking up the stairs, but I heard Kelly Rowlands talk about this issue with the security guard. She said the issue was that the "hurry along" demands were very selective. Kelly felt it was an obvious racially motivated issue with this particular security person. She said certain others were allowed to stop, turn around, pose and wave with no interference. Did anyone watch all of this and witness this difference in treatment??
I thought the behavior on the stairs was atrocious. Whatever happened to glamour and grace? The lady with the long train with the picture of Jesus on it behaved very inappropriately. I seriously doubt Jesus would have been pleased. If she had just walked up the stairs, it would have flowed nicely. Selena Gomez was spectacular. Now she shows poise and grace.
I have no clue who the train-woman is (she certainly is NOT a lady! 😊). Do you happen to know her name? And I'm against ANY religion being incorporated into such events - it's just disrespectful and sooooo 80s when Madonna started this trend.

I don’t understand how so many rich people don’t know how to accessorise a dress! It doesn’t require an innate sense of style; it’s mostly a matter of a few basic rules and having eyes in your head. Andie MacDowell’s lovely purple gown clearly needed something to contrast with it: a big chunky bangle or a sparkly brooch on her left shoulder would have done it (silver or clear stones would have matched her hair too). The woman who wore the luscious orange gown got it exactly right; the somewhat unusual (but flattering) hairstyle and the big earrings were just as important as the dress for her overall look. Selena Gomez’s 1940s-style waves went perfectly with her ruffled dress, and leaving her hair down filled in some of the bare space created by the off-the-shoulder design. It’s just geometry. A formal gown should be easier to accessorise than an everyday outfit that has multiple garments involved. Queen of the costume jewellery Coco Chanel would be turning in her grave….
