Abusers almost always isolate their victims from their friends first. This makes it easier for them to manipulate..

You know people say this and I didn't believe it until this year. My friend was dating a guy who distanced her from her friends and family, I am the only one who persisted. Now I haven't seen her since their wedding in mid March, her calls with me are brief and far between. I still can't believe it's happening. The scary part is she didn't notice how distant she had become to her family and friends. It's like she's blind. I don't think I would want love like this.

it's so common for the "vulnerable" so called, to be blamed for what happens in a relationship with the narc abuser, as if his toxic behaviors are excused because SHE could always leave, say no, or whatever......Why can't anyone call out a bad person when it's in plain sight? this is especially true when it's a woman victim, such as victim blaming. Narc/psychopathy is never excusable! That said, we need to build up our little girls so that they aren't vulnerable to these predators.

It also seems like her mother wasn’t helpful, either. When a child gains fame, it’s the parents’ responsibility to protect their child, not ride on their coat tails. Some other examples of this are Lindsay Lohen.and Britney Spears.

After Brittany Murphy provided a written statement in support of Julia Davis, she was targeted by the DHS/ICE. This included helicopter surveillance, wiretaps, an arrest in the middle of the night and an unsuccessful attempt to deport Brittany’s fiancée Simon Monjack, whom she later married.

Ladies. When you are in the exciting beginnings of a new relationship, it's easy to over look warning signs, write them off as nothing much to worry about. Please, the FIRST TIME you feel manipulated or gas lit, walk out. Right then. Cut him off. This usually happens about three months into the relationship, if it's going to happen. You've been through the "love bombing" phase, next comes the testing of the boundaries - how will you react to these little digs that are now popping up from him. The only way to react is to walk, because that shit will only get worse. I promise you. And you are better than that, you deserve better than that. Walk. Away. First. Time.

I had heard that Brittany was extremely immature in a "child like" way. I knew someone that worked for her during "Uptown Girls" a movie she did a long time ago. She was described as a "woman child" her mother took care of her in the way a mother would take care of a young child. Brittany and her mom's relationship was always described as strange and at times uncomfortable. I'm not surprised she ended up with a guy like this. This story is so sad, unfortunately it seems brittany had been being manipulated for much of her life, by her mom then her husband!

Brittany’s death has always stuck with me. She was not your typical Hollywood star who does a few movies and then their career fizzles out. She had true talent. I never understood what she saw in Simon. Now, through Dr. Grande’s analysis, I have a better understanding. Shame on her mother for not recognizing Simon's manipulative ways and properly watching out for her daughter's best interests. Had Brittany become aware of Simon’s true nature and then divorced him, I believe she would still be alive today and a huge, in-demand actor.

It's not really fair to judge the mother for falling for Simon's act when her daughter clearly did. Brittany's autopsy revealed her pneumonia was off the charts -- severe. She had been displaying symptoms for several weeks, then there was her severe anemia. Now, Sharon Murphy had been living under the same roof as her daughter and wackadoo son-in-law. How could Brittany hide being dangerously ill during that time and her own mother, who proclaimed total devotion to Brittany, drop the ball completely? How don't you have any inkling something is seriously amiss with your "soulmate" (not too healthy IMO, for a mother/daughter relationship)? Brittany's lungs drowned, literally. Sharon was deluded by her own design..the behavior with Monjack after Brittany's death spoke its own bizarre volumes.

Didnt know about the husbands behaviors. When you have money the vultures circle. And why did no one notice 90 pill bottles omg! Guess because he isolated her. She wouldn't heed coworkers/friends advice because hubby brainwashed her. Maybe she was desperate for a companion. I know how those narcissists operate. Charming and loving to snare you then wham! B seems, sadly, to be lacking in these areas - which I find VERY strange since her mom w stayed near always & THAT is why I feel her mom was evil and manipulated B into being emotionally and physically ill and weak so that her mom could inherit B's money after B and S died after she (the mom!) slowly poisoned them (in a sneaky way that make S looks suspicious not herself).

I think a bigger problem was Brittany's mother. What kind of "mother" allows her child to be drugged, manipulated, live in filth, hoarding...while living WITH HER! As mothers AND fathers, our job is to try to protect our children...regardless if they are children or adults. Brittany was an adult, with an inability to take care of herself. She relied on others to care for her.
No parent should be blamed if they tried to help their troubled children...especially if they tried and failed to help their child. In this situation, Mom lived with her and still allowed her to be abused and probably did some of that herself. That is a tragedy.

Interesting, dr. Grande. But I think that Simon wasn't necessary the only narcissist in Brittany's life. Her mother played a huge role and even LIVED WITH THE MARRIED COUPLE. I've also read that their death might happen because of toxic mold in their house, but I don't believe that since the much older mother was totally fine (even in the SAME BED!!!). This is why I have my own, non proved speculations. Both deaths happened in very similar manner and both times Brittany's mother was there. The mother also does not allow to exhume her body for aditional testing. The only beneficiary of the wealth was also her... Well idk. There is much much more to this case in my honest opinion.

No-one collects Vermeer paintings. There are very few of them, they are legendary, and more or less priceless. You might as well say you collect paintings by Da Vinci.

What a creep. I was in a relationship where he faked having cancer to gain more control over me among other things. Thank God, I was able to end this toxic relationship without too much drama. Hearing this about Simon really hit a raw nerve for me. What a sad tragedy.

It feels so sad about her death. I think many of us could see there were something behind that fun loving smile and personality. With the increase of success she had prior to her death i almost thought that she was in a rather good place in her life. But alas another life that ended too soon. Thanks Grande and rest in peace Brittany.

The sad thing is, we have many many examples of people who were successful, beautiful, rich,... does not equal happiness; does not equal happy ending. Life comes to all of us.

U r so right Dr. Grande - We can Not underestimate the power, maliciousness and cunning of narcissistic predators! Unless u have known one u will not understand how easy it is to be taken in by them. Even when u know what to look for it can take awhile and a few bad experiences to realize ur in the presence of yet another one!

Oh my goodness! You are so right about that! My brother is one! He did that to me my whole life. It’s no wonder I was unaware of narcissistic predators…

I never heard about this case, always learn something new from your analysis! My absolute last video request for a while is for you to please covert the potential personality profile of the fictional character Adrian Monk from the show “Monk.” I recently watched your favorite tv shows video and was shocked when you listed Monk in your top 10 - it’s such a well made show with some amazing characters!

Narcissists are aware of their behavior and know exactly what they are doing. They are master manipulators and can turn it off and on like a switch to their benefit.

Your analysis is on point. I started the video without any preconceived ideas (I barely remembered previously hearing the exact circumstances surrounding Brittany’s death), but the more I heard you explain Simon and his influence on her life, the more sad and disgusted I felt. I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean to be who he was, and it’s unlikely she recognized how far from healthy the relationship was. I wish she had taken a different path! Their deaths seem so unnecessary and preventable.

Great assessment. I had heard that he wouldn't let her go anywhere without him and wouldn't let her see doctors. Obviously, someone was seeing doctors. Brittany had a short tragic life. I always liked her and I'm sad for the loss. RIP Brittany. 🥺
