Thinking about taking parts to a CNC machine shop to see how much it will cost to have a bunch made. I made a set on my Harbor Freight lathe. They will be for the shorter rolls. The top will be thick enough to push the core down against the core seal. Probably not necessary but won't hurt. Just bought a package of Great Value 1000 at Wal Mart with the 1 1/2" core.

You guys might try Ralph Wood Motor Guard element change tractor For some info. I'm 80 and having some senior moments. Called a Motor Guard a Gulf Coast on the tractor. I use them on any thing with An oil pump.

Thanks for posting this information. I have an M-30 filter I want to modify but until now didn't know what modifications were done by Ralph.

Occasionally the coating will fail. Haven't had any problem with oil. Had one filtering gasoline on a Camry for 20 years or so. The coating held up well
The coating failed in a short time on my tractor gasoline. The Motor Guard was the best when they came out as an oil filter. They had no coating until they started making compressed air filters.

Some people use the.filter as is for hot motor oil. The polypropylene parts will last awhile.you can make a restrictor orifice with a wire welder tip of .030 at the inlet. Might need to reduce the size to make it press.into a fitting. You.can.get ATF cooler hose from auto parts store. All you need in.the.top.of.the filter is something to keep the paper from compressing up against the top and restricting the flow to the top of the paper. Might not be necessary especially with the shorter Scott 1000. I ordered every thing I needed from mc master Carr. O rings metric adapters ECT. I like to use the Perma Cool universal sandwich adapter. Then you don't need the restrictor. Some times I plug one port and put the restrictor in the other port. I return the clean oil into the fill cap or other points. The problem with hooking the filter up to both ports is air can't enter the filter and let.the filter.drain at shut down. Making a mess to change. The conventional method is good if.you have easy access to the oil pressure switch. I got my adapters from Jegs. I see there are others now. The shoulder at the bottom is a little.to small for the 1 1/2 O D aluminum tube. A short piece of copper tube goes on first. Not enough demand to have them made.by a machine shop. The coating sometimes turns loose from the the aluminum. I asked Motor Guard to send me 100 filters without the coating. They pretty much told me to get lost. The oil filter people are all gone now.

I don't remember the inside diameter of the copper tubing. You don't need the aluminum tubing. All you need is a good seal at the bottom around the core. Some think the tube has to fit tight inside the paper core. Not true. All you need is a good seal at the bottom. Never tried it but an old wheel seal might work for the do it your seller. Just a flat washer would be fine up to 2 1/4 or so. When you change it and there is evidence that the oil pressure is compressing the roll down against the bottom its working.

I went to Home Depot and bought a 8" piece of plastic drain pipe 1 1/2" to replace the two pieces. This is the piece that has a built in flange on one end. Cut it to length and it worked out great. Whats happens is the inner sleeve on the filter collapses and then the air blows by and does not filtered.
