We do quite a bit of traveling every year, and have had a few close calls, so I have been researching dash cameras for a good 6 months! Awesome video, thank you so much! 😊 I was about to send my camera back due to the app not working or camera then I seen you used another app (I didn’t use it due to low ratings). I added the app with “Rove Dash Cam” with white icon box and it sucked! It wouldn’t play back my videos at all just kept spinning. I seen you used the “Rove” app with blue icon box so went to that one instead. I’m so glad I found your video cause now I can view them and operate everything in the camera or on my phone following all you did. Again, thanks for the video it was a huge help! 😁🤗

Can you explain the wifi setting a little more ? Do the wifi connection go through your phone and record videos to your phone ? I'm looking for a dashcam with a bit more security features. I had a cop go into my dashcam after he placed me in cuffs for "his safety" and then went and deleted the video that proved I was wearing my seat belt and did stop completely at the stop sign.

I’m not sure if something is wrong with my Rove but it took almost 12 minutes to download a three minute video clip. And if I go into the file folder and select a clip to view on my phone it constantly buffers.
A discrete small camera has my preference. One with less shiny visible parts (that blends in with the cars cameras behind the rear view mirror). Invisible for people looking in their rear view camera.

Sure glad i came across your video review, as i was leaning to purchase the Nexae Beam GPS Dash Cam, but this one definitely seems a better-featured camera! Just one question: Can 2 cameras be synched with a single phone, or will it need 2 separate cellphones? I will be traveling to a foreign country, and need to install a front facing and also rear facing camera for parking mode purposes.
Can you access the folders on the app with out having the unit next to the phone?

Excellent review! Thank you for making it so easy to understand in layman’s terms. I had watched the videos from the company, (which I’m sure helped), but your video was simple and easy to understand. I do have a couple of questions that I’m hoping you can help me with though:
1. I just bought an Audi Q5 and want to hide the cord along the top and then side of the windshield. Is this hard to do? Will it affect my car’s warranty if I put cords where there aren’t any?, and
2. I also have a radar detector that is plugged into the 12V cigarette lighter. How can I continue to use it as well as my dashcam if both are supposed to be plugged into the one outlet?
1. Tucking the wire behind the headliner and A-pillar can be tricky if you have not done it before and you should get a set of trim pry tool (link in description). European cars do have very tight fitting trims which make it a bit more difficult but it can be done. As to voiding warranty. That depends if you installed everything properly and also what related problems you are having later on. Dealers can always point finger back to you if they want, and it's up to you to present your case how the issue is not related. 2. To connect 2 devices to one cigarette lighter plug, pickup a 12v splitter box like this one. amzn.to/3nnAgP0

Great review! Thanks for the information. I am a truck driver about to go otr and I have been looking for a dash cam. I am sure I will be purchasing the ROVE R2-4K in the next day or two.
I have DOD cameras myself, I like the feature that the screen goes into saver mode after 1 min. but still displays the speed and direction. dose the Rove do anything like that? I loved the DOD cameras and customer service when there was a DOD-US dealer, now that the only one I could find to purchase from was DOD-UK, I got a camera that won't focus and they want me to pay for return shipping for the POS they sold me. Theres more to but I digress. Another thing about the Rove is its half the price of a DOD :)
The picture for the dashcam on Amazon shows playback on a phone with a map, How do you get it to show the map on the phone (it will do it on a computer but how on a phone..

If limited to 4gb total recording is there any purpose in getting a 500+ USB card? If you wanted to record all of a scenic route at highest resolution, how many minutes can you record before you hit the 4gb limit? Once you have hit the 4gb limit and it stops recording, can you save it and press start again to begin a new 4gb recording?
I think it goes off of the recording time if that’s what you mean you can how much more radio if you buy a bigger SD card
What I understand this to mean: you can record one continuous video up to 4 gigs OR you can set the loop recording to 1, 5 or 3 minutes and record continuously with a maximum of a 512 GB SD card (per website). After you have filled the 512 gigs if that's what you choose it will just record over the oldest file. This is why you would reformat the SD every so often.
one continuous recording up to 4 gigs or 512 gigs of broken up one or five or three minute recordings
The "Loop Recording" setting also has a "10 Minutes" option if you push the down button past the "5 Minutes" option.
The "Delay Shutdown" setting has two more settings, "30 Seconds" and "1 Minute" when you push the down button past "20 Seconds."
The "Format Reminder" setting has one more setting, "90-Days" when you push the down button past "60-Days."

I also have one of these dash cams. Been running it since October. My only complaint is I have to be really close to the camera for the wifi to connect if I'm in my car I have to be about foot away from it with my phone. Other than that it works very well and the picture is excellent in my humble opinion.

Can tag details be noticable at night just as day for legal use. Like if someone side swiped you and kept going. Youl want to be able to note the car make, model, and tag info to file a police report.

Thank you for the review. Helped me from opening the box until it's installed in my car. Only thing is I left the Gsensor at 1 and when I drive it stays going into parking mode which is weird and when trying to watch the videos on my phone they run for about a 10 seconds and then start to load 10 seconds and load? Any advice? Should I raise the sensitivity on the Gsensor and to what would be a good number. Plus the lagging video is there any easy fix? Thank you again.
Hi Josh, thought I might try to help. I would probably raise the G sensor to medium setting 5. I think he just lowered it to show how it works. Also with the lagging video, have you tried actually downloading the video to your phone once connected to wifi on the rove. They take a few minutes to download. The videos played back fine once I did that. Hope that helps!
@@stronger7122 yea I figured out the Gsensor. Lowering it worked. I just figured it wouldn't activate parking unless it powered off and was parked. Didn't know it would activate that driving around and I'll check the downloading it to my phone next time I try to watch a video. Other then those things it's been a pretty good dashcam. I'm having issues with it turning on when I start my car now but I think it's from what I have it powered too. I have a USB port off of a gps box I have in my car that's not being used so instead of having wires in from of my center console. I have it ran behind my glovebox but the USB port draws power for about a min or so after I turn my car off without giving it power to charge the internal battery. So I think it drains it alil while it's still on. But my parking mode still works becuz I've checked that. So it still has enough battery to at least turn on for that. I just have to manually turn it off when I get out

Will parking mode drain your battery?? If so can I hook a trickle charger adapter to battery for charging overnight and or hook up alternate power bank if parked at motel or something???
Parking mode using internal battery does not drain car battery. Parking mode with hardwire kit will drain car battery but the protection circuit will shut off the dash camera when battery reaches certain voltage. As to your method, sure you can try but it's not practical for everyday use.

One thing you didn't comment on was the audio quality! Rove has come out now with the Rove 3 that I'm thinking of buying as it covers forward, rear, and inside cabin. Hopefully it will have great audio pickup for anytime I need good audio for like when/if I get stopped by police I can record and playback and be able to hear everything that was said. Otherwise great review!
New to dash cams but doesn’t it turn off if the officer ask you to shut off the engine .
Will this camera function if used on a motorcycle that does not have a 12V cigarette lighter connection but only a USB port?
I got that 2 years ago in 2020 I bought it brand new and I kept it for a year my speaker quit working on me it won’t say video mode anymore. It talks and everything. But it doesn’t do that anymore. But it’s still works but it won’t talk anymore but still records I’ve been using it a lot.
