You realize Windows 11 has less than a 25% adoption rate right? I have Windows 11 but blind fanboy defending Microsoft because you hate Apple is a joke. Next year Microsoft may release Windows 12. Why? Because Windows 11 is Windows 10, and they want to build 12 on the back of Co-Pilot and actually new systems. Regardless there was no need to restart 40 times. He could also just uninstall One drive or mute notifications and he would never have had any of these problems. The real major difference is Microsoft's obsession with Ads. Mac OS is the best experience for creators but if you do more than that, for legacy applications or gaming you need Windows. @@jeanbaptistelabelle

À Mac does not support touch, does not morph in a tablet, does not support pen... And an iPad lacks a lot of software / app and has a super limiting OS and peripheral support.
For me, arguably, Microsoft built with the Surface a MUCH better functioning machine end to end. So it seems it is clearly a matter of opinion.
Honestly, an iPad alone or a Mac alone are super limiting. And even if carrying both everywhere, which is terrible, it still does not do all what a Surface can do (drawing a mask with the pen with Capture One Pro using the Surface as a tablet in the plane with limited space... Thousand of similar examples where you need the combination of hardware and software).

This is why also the iCloud is so easily sold to them vs Onedrive. They also they have the benefit of a closed system. This happened to me. I needed a laptop for my digital mixer for live gigs, and my wife insisted it needed to be a mac. So much so that she bought me one. I connected the mixer, and audio was working flawlessly in about 3 seconds. Literally! On a windows machine there are hours of installs, tweaks, and patches needed to make things work, and even then. Then came photography. Once I saw how color management was universal from app to app, and from screen to printer I was done with windows. I could not beleive how my prints matched my screen EVERY time. I thought it was magic. I never did get Windows color management to work well. I always had to toggle things on and off, and reload profiles. Even then, I'd view something on the desktop with completely different colors than photoshop, even though the settings were set the same. I still have 2 machines, but windows might as well be an xbox. It's a beast for playing games. Anything that needs to get done gets done on the mac, and I haven't even experienced Apple Silicon yet.

Oh no. That wasn’t my first rodeo. It was a FireWire mixer I wanted to run on a laptop in 2009. There were literally a handful that could do it reliably in real time, on stage. Went the same for the three desktop interface before that. Windows doesn’t have direct control of its hardware. It has to do it through driver layers. That introduces latency and the chance for hiccups. Mac OS doesn’t even use drivers. Core audio just gives the device priority and you fly. You can even use multiple, unlike audio interfaces at the same time. That’s almost magic coming from years of windows tweaks and special installs.

This update description sounds like you used the years old Windows-Installation media, instead of getting the latest variant, which will already include most of the updates you now needed to install one by one (downloadable from MS).
I would expect your experience would have been similar, when reinstalling your MacBook with some "High Sierra" install-media, which first needs to update itselfs to the latest macOS.
The reboots on Windows are pretty much down to a minimum for me - not even the last yearly-update to 23H2 needed a reboot.
Also have an XPS - luckily not sticky yet... but I know this effect from other "soft-plastic" surfaces... once you don't touch them for months - they suddenly start "bleeding out"... guess it has something to do with skin-oil keeping them fresh, but without it they start drying out and bleed out their softeners. If that's the case not the best choice from dell imho.
But that is an XPS problem - not a Apple-solution or even Windows issue. My way older Asus notebook is full aluminum and looks great - the Lenovos we use at work the same.

Feels a bit overdramatic. Yes, setting up a Windows system from scratch takes a while. After that though, it just works. Every problem you're describing apart from the restarting issue is due to lack of proper setup. You can turn OneDrive notifications off, you can turn the newsfeed off, you can change the start menu to not show you any ads - or tiles, for that matter. Default windows is a pain, that's fair. The software updates are probably a mix, but he’s comparing with Apple where they do cumulative updates instead of stacked ones and where installation of most applications requires no reboot. @@jeanbaptistelabelle I am not re-watching the video to check, but from my memory he has 4-5 complaints specifically from MS (uncombined updates creates more updates on an out of date PC (Apple bundles out of date updates better reducing reboots when catching up), need to update after installing more applications than on Mac, injecting News and unwanted icons into the Start menu and search bar, frequency and style of One Note requests)
and a few from Dell (some of the updates installed going to be for Dell drivers/software, probably linked IN, bad material choices).
I am sure you know that most people don't buy MS devices as they historically did not have that option and now have very few, so this is the experience MS has designed by giving control of hardware support to their partnered vendors.
I 100% agree that Apple's iCloud is comparable with OneDrive, but if you look at 5:08 you will see the variety of alerts he gets when opting out, and you don't get that on Apple. I think his issue was with the style of the nagging.

You wake up in the morning with a deadline or something urgent to deal with and you run into "windows updating don't turn off your computer!". Apparently after every "UPDATE" something breaks and that important application that you really need runs into an error and you need to restart. Every single time I would have to reinstall drivers for bluetooth and wifi because they would randomly stop working. WHY?
Then I switched to mac and I was surprised why I had to endure all that crap. Now my wifi and bluetooth are always on, I take out my wireless earbuds "connected", I put away my earbuds I turn on my bluetooth speaker "connected". I go to work my macbook automatically connects to wifi, I go home my macbook automatically to my home network. It works every single time, NO TROUBLESHOOTING! Best of all no distracting messages and ads that you have to say no to a million times.

Sure, it is much easier to use Windows over Mac (things like having multiple windows open, file formatting, and if your a gamer the fact you can work on your own PC.) But, overall it's just terrible. Personally I have hopped back over to Lonux after a 13 year hiatus. Turns out you don't have to be dependent on a 80% market share company. And before your wondering... no I don't have to use the command line. There are distros with a desktop environment. Sure it takes a tiny bit of tweaking but, after installing Wine I can't say I can tell that I am not using Windows... well besides not getting bombarded by Microsoft software. Mint is the personal version of Linux I use but, Kubuntu or Ubuntu could also be options.

The built quality is not related to the OS. I agree that Apple has a good build quality. However I am using Thinkpad T Series and HP Elitebooks for 15 years no and had no issues with the material.
Especially the older models allow to upgrade and replace parts which is a big advantage for me.
Installing updates on Windows really is no fun, but to be fair - Installing an old OS on a Mac will also force you to install updates. I make sure to download the latest Windows ISOs and it never takes me more than 30 min to format and install. Less then 10 min if I restore a backup.
My company gave me a Macbook Pro with Core I9, 32GB Ram and 1TB SSD. I really hated this one. It was heavy, loud, and the battery was always empty. Working in a Windows domain was no fun. Apple Photo somehow looks like a joke to me. When I upload JPG and RAW at the same time it is one item and I need to export to get to the RAW, but if I import the JPG first and ten the RAW file, I cannot join it? However I would never say that all Macs are crappy.
Funny that you mention that Microsoft wants you to pay for Onedrive. Thank God Apple provides their services and tools for free.
There are different operating systems and different notebook models that fit different requirements.
Recently I got a refurbished T470s for 200$, upgraded to 20GB Ram and installed Linux. I really like having network and USB A ports without using adapters, but obviously it is not brilliant for photo or video editing.
However I still like your videos on Photography. Sounds like you know what you are talking about.

No, that's not the case. Most of the stuff he mentioned is actually a window as problem.@@Lofote

I went fully over to Mac years ago. It just works. Recently, my mom bought a serious gaming rig, running Windows 11. So I set it up for her. Same thing, reboot after every little thing. The amount of crapware preloaded was insane and the constant wheedling from M$ to buy another of their services as you go through the start up process was just disgusting. Then an automatic update corrupted Windows and the system had to be flushed and started fresh. So I went through it all again. Then it happened one more time, a day later. The did a fresh install without the crapware and the machine has been running smoothly ever since. The experience cemented my determination to stick with MacOS and iOS products.

I've been using a MacBook Pro in some fashion since 2013, and will never go back to a Windows computer. I have various Windows versions (XP, 7, 10, and 11) in VMs for odds and ends as-needed, however (legacy stuff and to run old games 😂).
My next and final computer will most likely be an M3 Max MacBook Pro.
    Thank you for this video!

Man I have been watching your videos for ages and this is very satisfying to finally see you appreciate what Apple brings to the table. Been through the exact same cycle as you about 10 years ago. Apple stuff just works, which is all I care about.

You can turn those notifications off. OneDrive will pop up with that see what OneDrive can do for you pop up. Accidentally click that and all your files are getting dumped into OneDrive. You can turn off iCloud and it stays off.

Ha, our journeys are very similar. Windows user until the M1s came out and they slowly won me over, also moved from an XPS 15 to the 14" M1 Pro!

I would really love to see how a not-turned-on-for-10-years MBP would handle updates & fresh OS version...
