What a welcome relief to the white on white so often seen on interior channels. The darkness of the interiors often gets mistaken for making an interior smaller- I disagree. It adds emotion and the darkness pulls the surfaces away from your eyes. Interesting to see how harmonious the furniture chosen works with the ceilings, carpets and walls- they were made for each other. Bravo. 👏🏽
as an Australian I want to know this answer too. I have given up looking online for inspiration at new North American homes and decor. There must be many architects in North America who adore contemporary style, have they no clients who are in love with it too and aspire to it?-- or are the architects of the contemporary in North America compelled to leave and work elsewhere...
An incredible re-imagining of a 70s gem. Somehow it feels more natural and lived-in than the original. More depth, texture and shape and an almost seamless integration with the landscape and unique positioning of the site.
My partner and I have a routine where we watch these videos over lunch, and when someone says “materiality” we cheer while our dog looks on in confusion.
I was just wondering when he said that word if it is actually a real word or a made up one? I live in the UK and have never heard that word before and I am an architect.
@@jmk1962 I think they are referring to the actual materials of the home and how they work together to create the environment they were looking to create. From the cork flooring, to the wood walls and the deep red tiles - it creates a very dynamic and soft space
Wow!,,, Well, what to say? I am a designer in Los Angeles and Palm Springs who specializes in period restoration; namely of Mid Century/Late Modern homes. What a Late Modern jewel you have on your hands here! I especially love that you rightly took your design cues from the existing, original design and materials. How many fabulous, inspiring Modern treasures have been destroyed by "designers" who think they know better than the Mid Century Modern Masters??? My exact philosophy in my work goes something like this: "I listen to the HOUSE FIRST... THEN (and only then) do I listen to myself". It is so validating and refreshing to see the stunning results of another great designer doing the very same thing. The impact of this sort of astute work is obvious and palpable. Congratulations on succeeding at the noble task of ushering in a timeless classic that will shine for years to come. All the very best from California. -Daniel Krog
Utterly stunning!! This is my kind of style: the earthy colours, use of wood and yes concrete. I hate concrete on its own but when it's married with timber it conveys another aesthetic altogether...A beautiful, warm and inviting home. I love the garden area; so peaceful and calm. The colour scheme is especially lovely.
Treehouse paradise . Love the concept . The layout is perfect. Really enjoyed the color palette, the greenery makes it such a luxurious retreat . I would never want to leave the house . Well done . The concrete and timber , yes . That view . Love it . Love these videos .
Gorgeous space, free, earthy, organic, safe, lots of prospect and refuge and beauty, beauty everywhere! Lovely filming too, thanks so much for sharing this home x
Beautiful renovation. The use of birch plywood and cork flooring works beautifully. I was excited to hear about the improvements you made to your windows. The problems you initially experienced reminded me of the State of Illinois building which is located in Chicago, Illinois in the USA. It's an all glass state government building which unfortunately is impossibly to keep cool in summer and difficult to keep warm in winter. I have often wondered if there have been improvements to glass technology. So I was delighted to hear that there have been improvements. I also love the use of vegetation around the home. It feels so natural. Thank you!
Superb. I love how they overcame the challenges of west/south outlook. The colours and aesthetics of the furnishings are outstanding, and I l love the triangular dining table.
I’m in tears. This is unbelievably beautiful. I think I’m crying because I dreamed of living like this but by the time I turned 40 no matter how hard I worked I realized I would never.😔
What a find in Balmain! I lived in Balmain for a time in a 30-square metre apartment! Most places are very small and snuggled together. But there are gems by the Harbour. The gardens around this house look fabulous.
Yes, the colors are outstandingly BLISSFUL. The RED tiles are so RICH in Color, Marvelous. I Noticed your frequent use of "Softness" as in the flooring material, I LIKE that. Not a big fan of concrete: it's just TOO HARSH, for me. To each their own. Softness works WELL for me. I live in USA. Do you think you could build a home like this here in US? I'd LOVE that! Kudos, Well done! Thank you for sharing~
Beautiful home. I did think it was funny that he kept referring to the retro wood ceiling because that material is called Tectum here in the states and it’s used primarily in schools. I appreciate its use in a residential project because I’ve never seen that before
There is nothing about this home I don’t love. It is timeless, dramatic yet cozy, emotional and intellectually stimulating and so sensual. Brilliant.
Might be the most beautiful house you've featured. Stunning!
Me with every single new Local project video 🤣 amazing work and quality content 🙏🏼
@@zorro-games3523 lol same
I think so too!
Simply beautiful and the way the materials speak into the design really
Not really.. many outstanding project covered by TLP
Downside is animals. Insects, reptiles, pests

why are all the most amazing architectural houses in Australia and Malaysia/Singapore?Indonesia? The US is so far behind our houses are so boring

Two words : DISPOSABLE CULTURE…Its unfortunately that this applies also in architecture in the US…we make everything cheap and fast.
Its the nature. They build around the nature. Plants trees take years (10+) to look like that.
🙄 this style of architecture is literally *from* America. It was an American design movement after WWII.
Y'all always find a reason to hate can't just enjoy the video and shut the f up ?!
I keep erasing my message to try and convey how amazingly beautiful this house is, just down to every single last detail. I'm an awe and in love.
A true representation of a modern day Tree House. Beautiful and brilliant design!

My kind of people.....I always listen out for joinery, not something we hear often here in America.
Honestly one of the best we've been treated to. Dripping with elegance and style, yet still entirely homely and warm. A true dream home.
I am in love with the glass and the abundant foliage. Stunning. Absolutely Stunning. 💚✨
The cinematography and aesthetic is so clean and complements the house perfectly
I know that house, I worked there in 1982, when I was a Chef. We did a contract on a film set. It was some dark dank space. Love it now.
What was the film?

I love the sense of privacy that this house provides
GORGEOUS house! Stunning color palette and choice of materials. Red bathroom tile is MAGNIFICENT!
Wow, one thing you can't manufacture with a project is the storied heritage. Coupled with an amazing reinterpretation and this is special.

Beautifully retain the beauty of the past yet modern surrounding. Love this.

An amazingly beautiful house. A piece of art
The inside is beautiful, but the outside feels like you are living in a jungle hillside, which is amazing. So unique.
Beautiful sight, beautiful house and amazing greenery

Lovely Balmain home. I like all of it except the exposed brick, especially in the bedroom. Everything else is very comforting and inviting.
Great job. It shows that you put a lot of work and care into the home
Exquisite, in every possible way!! Ahhhh....❤🧡💗
Amazing home! Definitely one of the best.
wow love that new products section! Have always been interested in knowing about what brands / companies architects specify within their projects.
