The Buffalo Bills Draft Pick That Confused the Buffalo Bills

  • At the 1996 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills said that if, for some bizarre reason, Texas A&M running back Leeland McElroy was to fall to their draft pick (pick #24), that they'd be overjoyed and would take him in a nano-second... but that Mel Kiper didn't know what he was talking about, and there was no way that McElroy was going to fall that far. Sure enough, when it came time to draft...

Eric Moulds was one of the most underrated WR's of his generation.

I forgot he even existed until this video.

John Butler definitely made the right decision to draft Eric Moulds instead of McElroy. Moulds was pretty reliable and I have no idea why he's not on the Bills' Wall of Fame. The Bills need to honor him this upcoming season.

Eric Moulds name doesn't get mentioned enough. He was a bright spot for the Bills. I feel he gets lost in history because the Bills weren't a playoff team for most of his career. In 2006, Moulds was traded to the Houston Texans for a 5th round draft pick, that the Bills used to get All-Pro defensive tackle Kyle Williams. This pick made in 1996 ended up getting the Bills two franchise players for 23 seasons.

Unmatched NFL assessment knowledge and intensity.
Thanks Official JaguarGator9! McElroy was a predecessor to Ricky WIlliams of Texas.
We would love to see a video of what your mock video for the upcoming draft will look like.

When it comes to drafting Leeland McElroy, I guess you can say that the Butler... didn't do it.

Ahh Leeland McElroy, one of the original Reggie Bush's 😅
That A&M team was STACKED at RB too.. how they all got fed back in the day was pure credit to RC Slocum

This unofficial Official Jaguar Gator 9 historian will remind everyone you made a video about the non-smokescreen Dick Vermeil had regarding Perry Tuttle in the 1982 draft.

I will never forgive Jimmy Johnson for refusing to draft a WR in arguably the most loaded class for that position ever 😡🤬 *NEVAH~!*
Especially since Moulds would go on to have more receiving TDs and tie for the most yards against my team than any other in his career. Good one, JJ!!!

I’m going to watch this tomorrow morning. But I just saw Tom Grossi do a video about “Every Tom Grossi Video”. Are you going to do a video about “Every JG9 Video”?

Looks like buffalo made the right decision to choose this guy over McElroy-if they did,he would have been the biggest bust of their draft-nevertheless,the chance they took was a good one! 😊😊😊😊😊😊

If you are seeking show ideas, I would like to know how Ahmad Rashad or Dave Casper (or even Lynn Swann) who decided in 1980 they no longer want cards of themselves made by Topps.

Smokescreen? Oh yeah? Like like when Jim Irsay says he wants the Colts to draft a QB to fool everyone & then he drafts … a quarterback. Oh wait…😂

Hey hey. You may have only been hypothesizing with Harbaugh drafting his guy from Michigan. But I gotta tell ya. I wouldn’t be upset (as a redskins fan) if I woke up between now and next week and heard the news that Washington traded the 2nd pick for Justin Herbert and San Diego’s 1st round pick. But if course not JJ is not that hot that if Harbaugh did want him he’d be available at 5. 🤷🏾‍♂️

and remember Andre Reed had missed most of 95 due to injury. Bill Brooks was gone. Russell Copeland sucked. They had Quinn Early but were rather thin at that position. I think they chose right

Eric Moulds WAS the BEST DRAFT CHOICE in this SITUATION. Leland McElroy was good for SPIKING the FOOTBALL into the ground 39.6 TIMES!!!
