    I have almost 90k miles on mine, according to FCA the base hellcats are grand touring cars. It is extremely comfortable and roomy, and easy to drive, full stop. Add the fact it is a legitimate 200 mph car, and those qualities are extremely rare. Mine is actually my family car, kids, groceries, road trips, everything.

      Agreed. This car gets a bad rap for it's weight and handling. But daily drive a Lotus Elise and lmk how that works out. Wrong purpose of this car IMO. This car is a grand tourer as you said with a crap ton of power!

      @SwellHemi in reality, except for front end collisions, there shouldn't be much wrong with a used hellcat, most people don't drive them much, or really very hard when they do. At the same time it is a legitimate 200 mph car, it's going to require more maintenance than a Honda civic. On that note you should know what you are getting into, a tune up every 36k miles 16 spark plugs, about 450 for the set, 250 for a headlight bulb, and the inner fender well has to come out, 550 for front brake pads, 1k for a front rotor, minimum of 300 for a tire. I would think you would be ok, as long as there's no weird noises on the test drive and you get a pre inspection from someone who knows about hellcats. I drive my car hard, every day, so I expect mine to need more repairs, my biggest problem has been finding someone with the necessary aptitude and attention to detail to work on it. A slight drift in your alignment becomes a hard push under hard acceleration and or at high speed and so on, good enough is not good when it comes to maintenance. Eventhough it may not sound like it, I say get one, of course lower miles are more desirable, but idgaf really how many miles, it is the best car all around I've ever owned, faster than a Nascar, literally, and can fit my whole family and our crap, comfortably for a cross country trip. I would absolutely buy an extended warranty, the one with the best coverage in terms of components covered is the FCA extended warranty, it's also very expensive and doesn't cover the car for a long time. Carshield isn't the best company for coverage, although it's decent, they aren't the best when it comes to major repairs, over a certain amount can only be authorized by 2 people in the company, however the price is decent and more importantly as long as you pay every month, the coverage never ends, it has saved me a lot of money. I would wait though, right now the car market appears to be beginning to realign with reality, the end of summer maybe, at the earliest we should see a return to more normal prices, the price of my car increased right around 20k at the peak. But lots are a lot more full, I'm starting to see rebate and cash offers, so it's coming back, until then, you will most likely pay way too much.

    Nice! Love to see people dailying manuals. I drove a ZL1 and was super surprised at how easy it was to drive in the city. It seems like this one is similarly easy. Also, love whatever you're doing with the rotating camera there. Cool setup, smooth and not bouncing around, good angles!

    • @natesrt
      @natesrt  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks! I daily drove a manual G35 for a few years in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic and didn't mind it much. I think the power has a lot to do with it since you can get a bit lazy about shifting and there's still enough power to move in a higher than optimal gear.

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews 3 роки тому +1

      @@natesrt Yeah I've been dailying stick in traffic for years at this point, and it doesn't bother me too much unless I'm in something with a really heavy clutch. I just expected that all that power was going to make it tough not to launch it in first in traffic, and I expected a really rough ride, as well as a heavier clutch, but it actually handled the city really well. I got to drive a manual 2011 SRT8 that was a blast, and I imagine the Hellcat engine only adds to that fun.
      Can I ask what your setup is with for that camera?

      @@GearboxCarReviews For the bouncing, the image stabilizing makes a huge difference. I can use the 4K module on the Insta360 and it's still smooth. I have an older GoPro that doesn't have stabilization and the difference is night and day. Even in track mode 👍

On the highway, you can just leave it in 6th gear and cruise. Even passing in 6th is effortless! I used to have a 392 Challenger and I felt like it could have used a little bit more power - 550 probably would have been enough. The Hellcat met that need and then some! Scats and hellcats are better daily drivers than mustangs or camaros. Hands down. Even mustang drivers have said that to me.

    Is the clutch hard by any chance

    • @natesrt
      @natesrt  3 роки тому

      I don't think so. I had an STI with an aftermarket clutch that was insanely hard - this one felt like butter compared to that.

      NateSRT friend has a hellcat and his clutch is really hard. Probably depends how it’s made

      My clutch is bone stock. I haven't had to replace it yet. I've had manual Challengers before so maybe I just got used to it. Also that STI clutch was brutal so it might've given my left foot a good workout lol 😂

      It's a 360 camera so you can reframe and do those type of angles in post. You can check out the "Making Of" video on my channel to see how it works and what equipment I'm using.

    Ummm ... you never never never start in 3rd or 4th , 5th gear period and your car should’ve died and if don’t your clutch is slipping now...
    Get a heavy duty racing clutch assembly , your pedal will need to be push harder but the rewards are a big plus @ 700+hp engines.

      This car is a monster. It didn't need much revs to get going in 3rd but yeah won't be doing that again. Clutch is still fine. The worst I did to the clutch was after I first got it. I wasn't letting it out quick enough when downshifting to gun it. I smelled the clutch bad back then but learned from my mistake to be quick in and out. I will likely do a McLeod when it's time to replace the clutch finally. And then start upgrading the drivetrain components going back 🙂

      @@JrGivesBack I'm not the best at launching but I'd try 4K and feather the throttle after you dump it. Depends on your tires also.
