These videos help me forget it's snowing outside. These videos for someone who cant afford to be in the City your videos are so wonderful💟 and congratulations on the child
When we lived in the Outer Mission, Beep's was a regular stop. Same with Whiz Burgers when we were nearby. We now live elsewhere but remember them well.
The best place WAS Hot & Hunky. After that Bill's Place. But one went out of the business, and the other downhill after it changed hands. Hamburger Mary's was good too. They're all gone now. Beep's looks good. Maybe I'll try it out.
You may have already left the city by this post Joey, but a few I've tried for the first time in the past couple years are Bill's Place on outer Clement - EXCELLENT first meal impression!; Belly on Geary and a newer one - Flippin Burger on Haight! Also, after a painfully long wait that was worth it - Hamburger Haven FINALLY reopened earlier this year!
Tik Toc's - one on Columbus Ave and the other on Third St. near the O'Doul bridge. Oh wait, that's 50 years ago. Bag of french fries - .13 cents. For now, it's Pearl's Deluxe.
We moved to a tiny town in KY 4 months ago (after 11 years in SF). I had always wanted to get over to Beeps and never did. MAN that burger looks good! Thanks for the video! Hope your move goes well. You will find much to love if you embrace the adventure! I recommend not comparing old and new. Enjoy each for what they gave/give you!
the quality in your videos is primo 👌🏻 as a life-long SF man I can’t wait to try out Beep’s!! Never heard of it but I’m for sure taking my boyfriend there ASAP
It's funny, I know people who declare you're Not A Real San Franciscan if you drive a car yet here is SF born and raised Joey with the specific vintage joys of a drive up burger in an underrated neighborhood. Not that times haven't changed. A counter example was the McDonalds at Haight & Stanyan, a prime location at the entrance to GGP, whose huge parking lot sat empty for almost 20 years because hardly anyone drives here for a Big Mac. It was finally demolished by popular demand and now sits empty while competing neighborhood groups try to veto everything, a tradition that certainly does mark Real San Franciscans.
Joey, you were sorely missed. Thanks for bringing attention to Beeps. I’ve been going there since the 1960s. Also, on a slightly embarrassing note, the nearby McDonalds was my first…and The Gap store down Ocean Ave. (long closed) was the original store that started the chain.
When I hear "Mel's" I think "overpriced." When I hear "Tony's Cable Car Restaurant" I think of the shakes and how crappy their hot dogs are. When I hear "Whiz" I think there's one I haven't tried yet. When I hear "Beeps" I think how does McDonalds compete when Beeps is just a couple blocks away?
I love Super Duper, but Beeps holds a place in my heart. I grew up on Ocean as a kid, went to high school there, and was at SF State for college. Thanks for the vid Joey!
Welcome back, Joey! 4 months is way too long between videos! I was suffering some serious withdrawal and hoping there wasn't anything wrong on your end. I'm glad you are back and in fine form. Thanks for my SF fix. I've only visited once and it's STILL my favorite city. Cheers!
Missed these videos, needed my SF fix since I have been feeling homesick lately too. Love the editing as always and not only was it about drive-ins (moment of silence for some of the dearly departed burger joints--Zim's/Tokyo Stop), but you also mention parts of SF not many non-locals would know about. Loved seeing all the shots of the neighborhood and what is true to SF. I think to really know SF, it's not the tourists spots but the inner city spots that show the real character that OG/natives know (even the not so pretty ones!). Have not been back for over 20 years now and I hear so many bad things than good things nowadays so it's really nice to see your videos. Thank you and I wished more people would subscribe!!!! xx
Amazing Video Joey, Beeps is my Personal Favorite but you forgot one quintessential drive-in in the city that 90% of these list tend to ignore, B&Js ¼lb Burger on 3rd St & Paul. Not your fault though, the Bayview tends to be over looked. But do yourself a favor and give em a try. You won't be disappointed.
Oh shoot! I would go there after class at CCSF 😄 it’s soo cool that you featured them, there my default burger place to go 😊 another burger joints I go to also is 4505 Burgers & BBQ, Roam Artisan and Calibur INC. Happy to see you back and look forward to watch your next video 👍🏻😊
It's crazy I've past this place so many times, not even realizing what and if it's open! I'll go tomorrow!! I've lived here for so long and I'm still learning! Thank you for these videos!
That liberating space is the result of either owning the property or having a landlord who is content with the status quo. In the case of Mel's on Geary Street, the property owner has already indicated that the building will be demolished and replaced with a mid-rise condo building when the current lease expires.
Super Duper Burger #1 scratch the super sauce and get chipotle sauce which is spicy super sauce..I call it "Ed's Sauce"...#2 is In N Out..shake shack is terrible!😮😮😮😮😮
Glad to see a new video from you, Joey! And glad to see Beep’s is still around. Used to live right down the street when I was a kid so I remember going there with my mom all the time. Nostalgic…
Drive Ins are free? Do remember that California consumes half the oil produced in the Amazon Rain Forest, and no, they don’t drill among the jungle, they rip it out. I like Beeps too. And it’s easy to get to on transit, BART and Muni. Who the fuck drives a car in San Francisco!?! An otherwise decent video. As usual.
Hey Joey - I follow your blog and enjoy what you have to say. I have been living in Germany for for 18 years now. I would love to have Dim Sum with you and your wife (I promise I am not a phycho and you can invite others to make sure I am not your most basic feat). If you are interested, we could talk about an ex-SF'er and I would be happy to pick up the Dim Sum tab. If you would be interested to meet an older SF'r and interview him - let me know. I will be in SF for 3 weeks in November. If you are not intrested - that is totally cool with me. But I love your videos and just wanted to suggest. I hope you are doing well. I am not sure if you can contact me through your channel - or if I must also send my e-mail address. I hope you - your wife - and your pigeons are all well. Ron in Germany
Beeps used to be much better. The new stuff i don't like the fries were preseasoned, not very good too salty and burger not too good in my opinion drive a few more minutes to bullshead
Okay, debate time. What’s YOUR favorite burger place in the city? (drive-in or not!)
Pearls Deluxe is my neighborhood joint, i also enjoy Hall of Flame and Tanguito
Pearl's is awesome
@@Ragnarok043 Joey from dirty arty!?!?
WesBurger - handsdown

When we lived in the Outer Mission, Beep's was a regular stop. Same with Whiz Burgers when we were nearby. We now live elsewhere but remember them well.

Wow! What a great production. Too bad there aren’t more food videos from the Bay
What do you use for your car shots (outside the car)
I used a Insta360 with a suction mount (while driving verrrrry carefully)
@@JoeyYee thanks for the reply Joey!
Welcome back, dude! You just keep outdoing yourself every time.
Mel's was also prominent in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - the Geary spot.
Been going there since the 80s. I lived a few blocks away. Hope this place never goes away.
Your passion for SF is contagious. Thumbs up, handsome!
The best place WAS Hot & Hunky. After that Bill's Place. But one went out of the business, and the other downhill after it changed hands. Hamburger Mary's was good too. They're all gone now. Beep's looks good. Maybe I'll try it out.
What would you recommend as a best Vietnamese sandwich?
The return of the king!!!

My fav is Hamburger Haven. Sadly I don't think it will ever come back :(
Such good production quality. You deserve more recognition!
I’m just one bus ride away from Beeps. I love their steak fries and shakes too.
Missed you Joey!
Beep's Garlic Fries changed my life.
Great video, mate! I'll definitely have to come check this place out!

the mini corn dogs tho
So glad you are back!
Beeps is the best burger in the city. It’s not even a competition. Great video!
That’s not the old Beeps, supposed to get fries and burger in same basket dude. Steak fries n greasy burger, it was great.

I just got back from my first trip to SF this week and I can't stop thinking about the city. Can't wait for my next visit!

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll have to check them out.
Hey Joey I was too shy to say hello to you at Trader Joe’s but just know I love your vids. Keep up the good work!
I knew this was going to be about Beeps when I saw the title! My go to burger spot. Love the way they do their grilled onions
Beeps and Super Duper.
There was also a place in Castro, but I can’t remember the name.
Still remember the pleasure I had the first time I had beeps.
smh what's mcdonalds doing right next to beeps
Love the 'stache. Looks good on you.
This video is great, Joey. Looks like a lot of love for the city and hamburgers went into this content. Keep it up!

You can definitely tell you put some effort into making these videos, I love them keep them coming! The quality is top notch😊

Thanks for the inside tip. I had no idea and I looooove a good burger! And a drive in to boot. I grew up on White Castle.
Uncle Boy's Cowboy Burger
Tries v hard to be funny
Mission Bowling has a pretty good burger!
Hey Joey, you gotta try the burger and rib sandwich at The Richmond (615 Balboa)!
Super Duper Burger #1 scratch the super sauce and get chipotle sauce which is spicy super sauce..I call it "Ed's Sauce"...#2 is In N Out..shake shack is terrible!😮😮😮😮😮
Great episode. Loved the animations, really took the concept to another level. Fantastic editing & scoring as usual. And man am I hungry now! 🍔
Glad to see a new video from you, Joey! And glad to see Beep’s is still around. Used to live right down the street when I was a kid so I remember going there with my mom all the time. Nostalgic…
Why the vegan hate? Next Level Burger is the best in San Francisco.
Great video! I have to ask though, light mustache, full mustache, light mustache.
Was time travel involved?
Maybe just a little…
Joey, Joey, Joey…. You neglected to mention Umami Burger!
Yeah I get it that this is a drive-in video
Beep's is ok.
Would love for you to do a video on coffee in SF! I would love to help too!
As usual.
Theeeeeeeeee triumphaaaaaaaant retuuuuuuuuuurn of Joeeeeeeey Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Mr. Joey Yee! It has been too long. Of course, wishing you great success in all you're doing, but don't stay away so long.

Side note: If you could just suggest a place or two that is open I would be very appreciative.
