Clearing Trees for 2 More Sheds and Orchard Maintenance

- Whew! Things sure do grow up quickly! After we installed the automatic irrigation system for the orchard, all the plants took off! Including the weeds... we had to handle the overgrowth before it got out completely out of control. Just a push mower and weedeater can make a huge difference. While finishing up the orchard, I got started clearing trees beside the shed/house. I love my electric dewalt chainsaw! I have way more confidence using it then a gas powered chainsaw, because its much lighter and when I let off the trigger, the chain stops!
Soon we will be adding two more sheds to the homestead/farm! Every step is progress in the right direction. :)
Shout out to my cousin Jordan for helping us on the farm today!
UA-cam is also another full time job, I did not think there was much work involved making videos-until, I started my own channel. New sub here, I like the channel.
You aren’t lying!! There is so much to learn and so much time spent editing videos in addition to the work actually being done in the videos 😅 but it’s so worth it. I love sharing our journey and I hope it helps someone else accomplish their dreams too! Plus, rewatching videos to see our own progress gives me energy to keep pushing forward. Going to check out your channel now! Thank you!
If only our crops and orchard trees grew like the weeds and blackberry bushes
Lol exactly. That would be a dream!! 🤩
Amen!!! LOLLLLLLL!!! Soooooo true!!! If only...but the weeds declare the ability of the soil I have found and the ants usually are busy working under there and around the roots of the weeds!!!
Hi Thank you for letting me know that weeds take from the trees. That was nice to know. I always thought trees took moor then the weeds. You guys have a good night. And thank you for taking the time to video tape what you do out there. So nice of you.
Our trees are still getting established so their roots haven’t spread nearly as much as an established tree would, which is why they are competing for the same nutrients from the soil. Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope you have a great day 😊
It’s coming along and looking good.👍
Love the rewarding feeling of cleaning up an orchard
Yes!! Motivation to keep going!
I just stumbled onto your channel and watched a few videos and am now subscribed. I particularly liked that you showed details that I haven't seen in other videos, either you're more thorough in what your doing or the other people just don't show as much. I particularly enjoyed your house video installing and the anchors to keep it in place. Also you well drilling video was particularly good.
Thank you have a good day.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it and I try to make each video better than the last. We are learning as we go, and if we can share what we learn with other people to help them as well, even better! Thank you for subscribing and helping our channel grow
Looking good, kids.
Yall are The Best❤

New subscriber here, glad I found your channel love your videos.
Thank you so much!
It's looking good. I just got to the drywall stage of my 16x52 shed conversion and it has been a ton of work. Well worth it
That’s awesome, Congratulations! I bet the dry wall really helps it take shape and look more like a house! Enjoy!
Looks great !!!
Lotta work, but it's kinda fun, right??!!! We're doing something similar. Escaping to the country!
Awesome! Yes, I love seeing the progress! I’m going to check out your channel now 😊
Just a thought here you all mite what to put some Tordon RTU or rock salt on them stumps so they dont sprout back
Great idea! Thank you!
You can make a video on renovating the old house 😂😂
One day I will find some time to get my hands on the old homestead house! 🤞
Hurry and get that home listed, I hear that in some markets home prices are on the decline (Foreclosures). I keep a watchful eye on the economy and stock futures as a useful hobby.
We are close!! Thank you! Thankfully we are in a growing area that is desired so 🤞 🤞
You guys need a bigger mower. If it's taking you hours to push mow it and a rider would be 20-30min it's more likely to get done..then you can move on to other projects.
We will be able to mow it with a riding mower on day! We are still working on establishing this area as trees and grass. It’s full of large rocks, uneven ground and roots that are dying/tress that were mulched. We started this area first on the land, and honestly if I could do it again, I would have dozed it. We have a lot of work that needs to be done to fill in holes/remove stumps/rocks/roots before being able to mow it with a riding mower safely.
I feel there was more than adequate space around your property to place those sheds without cutting down more trees. Losing those trees is a shame really.
Is there much problems with snakes in SC?
So far, we’ve only seen black snakes around. I keep making noise though to keep the snakes away 😆
@@CountryRootsFarm thank you for your reply!
@@smwon1 of course! Thanks for watching and commenting!
What state are you in?
South Carolina
@@CountryRootsFarm how's the weather on the east coast?
@@CountryRootsFarm I'm in east Texas and it is hottttttt!!! 99-105 most days.
So glad this video popped up. Enjoy watching your journey. 😊
Looks good love what you are doing. I purchased 8 acres a few years ago started cleaning it up cutting down trees and planting fruit trees. I was burning all brush and then I purchased a small wood chipper and started putting the mulch around my new trees,it helps keep the weeds down and the moisture in. Just a thought it beats burning them in this heat. Keep up the good work and have a great day
Awesome!! Great advice! We have put mulch around the trees once a year from when we had some of the property forestry mulched, but clearly I need to add more 😆 we sold some stuff we weren’t using and purchased a chipper so I will give it a try! Thank you!
I love my chipper, just a small one but helps so much
I also live in SC and you can call and get free truckloads of chips. It is awesome ! As much as you need .
What! Where can you get free chips from? That’s awesome!
Your videos are great but very short show the work you just explain and move over things week needs days of work
Thank you for the input 😊

Wow!! That’s a pile of work!! It sure looks sooo much better when it gets cleaned up like it is now. Every time you clear an area and put a shed in place or any permanent structure, you won’t have to do it again! Not for a long time anyways. You two are definitely working hard to get things done!! Stay safe, Eh!
The transformation is always worth the work! I’m looking forward to the day when it’s less wild and more maintained. But hey, progress is progress 😊
