  • We are beyond excited for this step on the farm! After carrying water for the past two years to these trees, setting up an automatic system sounds like a dream come true!
We started by digging a trench through the middle of the orchard with our Yanmar 221 tractor, finished it out with shovels, and ran PVC piping to 4 spigots throughout the orchard! This set up will also water the raised garden beds once they are installed!
**I called the threaded PVC parts by the wrong name. The threaded piece that goes into the spigot is male threaded and the side that doesn’t have threads that connects to the pipe is female unthreaded.

I just found your channel a couple days ago and subscribed. You're living my dream!
Depending how cold it gets where you are, you'll probably want to blow all the water out of your orchard pipe for the winter, not just turn it off.

Awesome! We only have a few nights a year usually that it gets below 32 but blowing out the pipes is a good idea to make sure we don’t have problems! Thanks for watching and commenting 😊

Good job. Not many gals would do pipe work (even though its quite easy) because it might break a nail !!😯😯👍👍

Glad you guy's are living the dream, I'm trying to find property with some room as well. Not sure if you are aware but PVC pipe is bad for you to use for drinking water. The right pipe is PEX and it's pretty cheap as well and it comes in 100 foot rolls. When you run irrigation there is a backup preventer so pvc doesn't mix with your drinking water. Just trying to help don't want you getting sick. Good luck with your farm

Oh wow!! I will have to research into this. Every house I’ve ever lived in is PVC/CPVC. We do plan to run PEX in the house and we used the PVC as the irrigation just because we already had so much on hand. Thank you for letting us know! We will put filters for the water coming into the house, I wonder if that would help?

We are working on our current house to get it on the market before taking the next step on the shed! I’ve been drawing out some layouts though and can’t wait to frame it!
