Site Prep for Storage Pavillion - New Build
After evaluating our growing farm, we decided we have to make storage for equipment a priority. We have been using 10x10s and tarps and they just aren't holding up to the weather. Its time for a permanent structure. We used our Yanmar 221 tractor to help prepare the site and our friend at Country Line Land Management helped us with some ground work and spread the gravel base for us! We are so excited to have officially broken ground with this project! Here's to managing our time with a new little one, work, and the farm. Time to build!

Sawmill Setup - Rebuilding Base / Foundation. Hud-Son Oscar 428
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
Sawmill: Hud-Son Oscar 428. If at first you don't succeed, try again! Rebuilding the sawmill base became a necessity pretty quickly after our prior foundation started failing. We have had so much rain and the blocks just couldn't support the weight. For this setup, we used 4x6 beams, 2 1/5 feet in the ground with 40 lbs of concrete for each support post. With 2x6 boards between post for stabili...
Sawmill Base / Foundation (Hud-Son Oscar 428) and First Use!
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
The Hud-son Oscar 428 sawmill opens so many doors of possibility on the farm! We are so excited to be working on the base to get it up and running! We aren’t 100% sure this is the forever spot for the sawmill, so we wanted a movable foundation. We used cement blocks and 4 x 6’s to create the base for the tack to sit on.
Finishing the Fencing and Goat Barn (Part 2)
Переглядів 1,8 тис.Рік тому
We have a winter storm heading our way so the rush is on to get the fencing and goat barn done! The goal for building the barn was to use as much reclaimed material as possible and I am so happy we were able to get it done and only purchase 5 boards! Its very rustic looking, but Chip is loving it! Glad to get him out of the cold wind we have coming our way. For a great pair of boots, check out ...
Building Goat Shelter / Barn from Reclaimed Material - Part 1
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Рік тому
Impromptu goat barn to give Chip a shelter! We wanted to be able to build it as cheaply as possible. We bought 5 boards for this build. 4 for the ground contact, and one for the top support. Austin cut dead cedar trees out of the woods, and we used those as the support poles for the build! We had scrap lumber from another project we used as extra support. For the roof support, we used metal sup...

Delivery, Installation, Setup and Tour of our Manufactured Home!

Plans change! No camper living for us after all. With the prices of everything always increasing, we know we will need time to buy and build the shed to home into what we want it to be. Our plan was to live in a camper with a barn built around it while building, but plans change! We were able to get this manufactured home for the same price! It was already sitting on a lot near us so it wasn't ...
Creating a Second Driveway (land clearing, stump grinding, tree removal)
Переглядів 3,5 тис.2 роки тому
Our main driveway has quite a turn to it and many trucks have been stuck there! When we bought the land, it was the easiest place to clear so that's where the driveway started. Now that we have been working the land for the past 3 1/2 years, we were ready for a second entrance that comes straight off the road. This old logging trail was perfect access and leads directly to our BIG PROJECT! We c...
Shed delivery [Second] - set up with gravel pad and shed delivery
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
In the process of moving to the property, our plan was to move our two 10x10 sheds…but our state transport laws changed the regulations and it was going to cost quite a bit to move them. Then we found a new shed to purchase, but we were on a tight timeline to get it before we closed on our house so we would have storage! We plan to use the new shed as a shop while building our shed to house con...
Patch T1-11 Siding | Shed to House | Homestead

Since our shed is a repo, it has lots of extra screw and nail holes in the siding. All of these hole are potential entry for water. Plenty of work to do! This was an easy fix to help protect our siding for years to come. Thanks for watching!
How Did We Get Here | Shed to House | Homestead
Переглядів 12 тис.3 роки тому
All the long days at work working on our current home working at the property will all be worth it, when we are living here, debt free. Without the trials we’ve already faced, this adenture might have seemed impossible. But if there is one thing we know, it’s that if you’re working towards were God leads you to be, you will not fail. Not that long ago, this seemed to far out of reach, but here ...
Site Preparation for Shed Delivery

When we were clearing the land, we weren't sure where we were going to put our two 10x10 sheds once we move them to the property. Our focus was on the house site. Once the cabin shed was in place, we started discussing where we wanted our other sheds. This area seems to be the best place for us, but was no where close to ready. After hand clearing the trees, pulling down the vines, and raking t...
Clearing Trees for 2 More Sheds and Orchard Maintenance
Переглядів 15 тис.3 роки тому
Whew! Things sure do grow up quickly! After we installed the automatic irrigation system for the orchard, all the plants took off! Including the weeds... we had to handle the overgrowth before it got out completely out of control. Just a push mower and weedeater can make a huge difference. While finishing up the orchard, I got started clearing trees beside the shed/house. I love my electric dew...
DIY Irrigation System / Automatically Water our Orchard / Homestead
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
We are beyond excited for this step on the farm! After carrying water for the past two years to these trees, setting up an automatic system sounds like a dream come true! We started by digging a trench through the middle of the orchard with our Yanmar 221 tractor, finished it out with shovels, and ran PVC piping to 4 spigots throughout the orchard! This set up will also water the raised garden ...

Question, how exactly did you use the root rakes? Basically the guy was dozing the trees over, and you would pick them up with the root rake and take them somewhere else to pile up? Or how exactly were you using this method in order to keep the topsoil somewhat intact? I'm about to clear some land next week and am worried about the topsoil situation since they will be bringing dozers

Can you give rough estimates on what it cost to have the home delivered? What it cost to connect utilities? Have a septic design approved and installed? Did you have to clear any trees or level any land, and what was that cost? What permitting was required, what it cost, and how long it took?

Take the top of the handle off (The curved part with the button releases in the lower section). Then pull the left side lower handle back--should allow you to remove and reinstall the carb (but agree it's a PIA)

    • @CountryRootsFarm
      @CountryRootsFarm 4 місяці тому

That’s awesome! Congratulations! We had the septic instillation done after our home was set up because we knew the home would have to travel over where our septic lines were permitted to go and we didn’t want to risk damaging them. Also, the size septic field will depend on the number of bedrooms/bathrooms in the home. It might be worth picking the house you want first and then getting the permit for septic to save money from pulling the permit more than once? Thanks for watching and commenting!

Whats the story on the oils. The one on the pull side says motor oil 10 w 30 20 oz. The one on the other side looks like it also shares same place with motor oil. Have you ever changed the pump oil. Says its w85 90? If i put in motor oil and can drain it from other side i guess they are the same reservoir. Thanks
