I'm a trucker been OTR for 8 years now and this song gets my lady everytime. One day we will listen to it and mean it but for now there is a load they need in denver.
May whatever gods you believe in keep you safe and get you back home brother. I work 10 hour days, gone 13-14 hours of the day, leave before the sun comes up, get home we’ll after it’s down. I’ve watched my daughter grow through a damn screen most of the time. She’s 6 months old and I stay up just to watch her and my wife sleep. Just to see there faces.
Thank you. I can't help but imagine my son singing this to me. "Close your eyes Dad, I'll be here when you wake up." Rest in peace little Allyn Bear, I love you forever and always.
There's no stronger wind than the one that blows Down a lonesome railroad line No prettier sight than looking back On a town you left behind There is nothin' that's as real As a love that's in my mind Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while There's lots of things along the road I'd surely like to see I'd like to lean into the wind And tell myself I'm free But your softest whisper's louder Than the highways call to me Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while All the mountains and the rivers And the valleys can't compare To your blue lit dancin' eyes And yellow shining hair I could never hit the open road And leave you layin' there Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while Lay your head back easy, love, Close your cryin' eyes I'll be layin' here beside you When the sun comes on the rise I'll stay as long as the cuckoo wails And the lonesome bluejay cries. Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while [x2]
Ben is destined for legendary status. The man cannot write a bad song. A bad collaboration. He will stand with Townes and Elliot Smith as one of the most important songwriters of our time. The most punk rock country musician maybe ever.
I'd love to hear both of yall oN the street agaian! Your music echoes through my head for eternity. Thank you so much for what you've shared over the years. Y'alls soul is just beautiful
The little 5 note melody they play in the chorus after they say "close your eyes I'll be here for a while," is from some incredibly familiar song I can't quite place. It's not in the original Townes Van zandt version but I definitely know it's from a song I've heard a million times... Can someone please help me with where that might be from?!??!?! Jason and Ben are two my favorite all-time writers and performers, but I don't see being able to ask them anytime soon lol Its at 0:42-0:48 , 1:22-1:32 and then each chorus afterwards
Jason if you see this, I have added a part with my nylon stringed guitar and harmonize with the guitar you play It sounds awesome with it. I would like to hear from you. Ron
How can you be anti corporation and monetize your videos on UA-cam/google. The biggest corporation there is. Song is great but not to fond of the label.
The name of the label is Anti-Corporate Music. We’re a label that doesn’t restrain or exploit our artists the way major corporate record labels do. That’s not saying that we exist in some vacuum where we can build up and pay artists without using resources created by corporations. You can’t even record a song without supporting some kind of corporation. Your lack of fondness doesn’t help the artists on the label in any useful way, so I guess thanks for pointing yourself out for just kinda being around.

I think this is a perfect comment. Townes would be proud to see his legacy.
You do it for her
youre supposed to give the load to your lady duck
-A Male Duck
Any chance I can get a ride? Heading to Denver rn and stuck in the train hell of Chicago lol

The only way it could be better is if townes was in it too somehow. But its perfect like this.
Who wrote it originally? I thought Jason west did
This is so beautiful...it makes me forget that my life sucks....
Perfect soundtrack for my life in Florida and Georgia
when the guitar and banjo started playing the vocal melody, that shit gave me chills
For real. Glad there's talent like this out there 🙂
There's no stronger wind than the one that blows
Down a lonesome railroad line
No prettier sight than looking back
On a town you left behind
There is nothin' that's as real
As a love that's in my mind
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
There's lots of things along the road
I'd surely like to see
I'd like to lean into the wind
And tell myself I'm free
But your softest whisper's louder
Than the highways call to me
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
All the mountains and the rivers
And the valleys can't compare
To your blue lit dancin' eyes
And yellow shining hair
I could never hit the open road
And leave you layin' there
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
Lay your head back easy, love,
Close your cryin' eyes
I'll be layin' here beside you
When the sun comes on the rise
I'll stay as long as the cuckoo wails
And the lonesome bluejay cries.
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while [x2]

Never heard this type of music in my life, I wish I could play like this..I am admiring this music. Keep up the good work.
Also can you tell me what kind of guitar that is? It’s very different but yet beautiful in its unique shapely way sir
Jason plays pretty much always is playing a National steel guitar.
This is absolutely perfect.

I hear Lost Dog's songs in my head every day...specially when I'm highway driving...wondering why no credit for Benjamin on Magnolia sessions release?
There is, it’s up on his merch store
Chido.
Lost Dog should tour with Intuitive Compass. Love Heckler but I would go out of my way for that show.
Fuck Yeah my dude
Obviously they're both couragious Townes fans.
I love apalachia. And folk. I'm never going back to lame ass New York
Now I realize what Ben was talking about....Amazing artist!!!! RIP J.
He's still alive. It was another friend of his who passed
Nicholas Ridoubt is the one who passed on. And this is a cover of a Townes Van Zandt tune. Still, they did a bang up job
Nicholas rode out! Miss you man. Love that spit shine.
Where is Benjamin? CLICKBAIT
He’s the 2nd vocalist and the one playing banjo.
To the dirty rat that disliked this, go fly a kite pal.
Idk if it’s true but has Jason left us in death?
No. Nicholas is the one who passed
